Oh man Jake, my family's from there (Xiamen + GLY) - could've told you to avoid the sea worm jelly thing, that's nasty lmao, kudos + gg for trying it.
But my fondest food memories and you should definitely try in case you missed it:
- Satay noodles (沙爹面, hokkien: "sā dēi mī"), and
- The local "spring roll" (might also call it 春卷 in mando , hokkien: "bēr bìa") but it's not deep fried and it's generally wrapped on the spot for you. Ask them to add sweet chilli sauce, coriander, peanut sugar + fried seaweed.
- Seafood on the whole should be good everywhere.
Whats the name of that weird ass neon frog restaurant. It was in a mall. I ate there when i went to xiamen. That was a mistake.

That English teacher was wanting something something. She's right though you are very handsome. I love these videos because it's nice to see how the everyday Chinese person lives. All you here on the news in the west is bad things but the people seem lovely whenever I see videos of them and their culture is amazing. The West is fairly new but China has been around forever, in one form or another.

Xiamen looks similar to Penang
Because they are of the same stock.
All the Chinese people in Penang are all future generations of Xiamen, Zhangzhou, and Quanzhou. In Penang they even speak the same dialect. Culturally there basically isn’t really any difference.😊

I had a layover in Xiamen. We were supposed to land around noon, but I think someone seriously died on our plane so we had to turn around and land in Russia.
Didn’t get to my hotel until around 8PM. Ate at some weird frog restaurant, hooked up with a local bumble baddie, and left at 6am the next day.
