My 2013 Js32 Kelly serial number 666 has been amazing. Been using and gigging with it for a decade now. Now being able to buy top shelf guitars I still Wouldn't trade it for anything.
@jorcormy9165 it's 2013 model made in Indonesia with quality. From checking out other models I'd say mine is comparable to today's pro models build quality wise. Even though today's pro series you can easily find imperfections in them. Today's Chinese Js series are a joke and the licensed floyd in them looks like it's plastic. My licenses Floyd holds tune great and only the saddles had to be replaced due to my own mistake of overtightening.
Do you think it would be worth it to mod one of these over getting a higher end jackson? I know the neck would be the bottleneck but I think it might be good enough for gigging.

Good decision, right? 😄 The answer is simple: upgrading a JS series guitar with better pickups, tuners, and bridges only makes sense if you can get everything at a bargain. Otherwise, it’s often more expensive than buying an X series, and for just a bit more, you could even land a Pro series, which will hold its resale value better. So, go for the higher-end model if possible!
@@benjimusicandgamimg9773 It really depends on the quality of the body though. I can see some situations in which modding a decent but cheap guitar can be a good idea. Like if you want specific specs that you can't find on a stock model. I have a modded P-bass which was 180 euros new, but had a nice finish, perfect weight balance and very comfortable roasted maple neck. I changed the tuners, installed a detuner on the E string and put in an EMG pickup with some decent pots. For a total of less than €500 I have a bass that is more functional (to me specifically) than say a stock fender at €1500. The only drawback is that it has no resale value. But I don't care because it is exactly what I needed so I won't need to sell it. And if I ever stop using it, it's not like I care given how little it cost me.
Modding cheap guitars that have quality wood will absolutely put them in the same league as a higher end model. However, resale value will not be good unless you plan on selling all the parts you put in it individually.

Below a certain budget, every guitar is nearly identical besides the shape. Poor Qc, muddy pickups, cheap hardware… So just go into a store; try them, feel them, and pick by your eyes, hands, and ears. Don’t get lost on specs sheets. Just avoid floating bridges and check the tuning stability of the guitar. Also try to avoid deaf guitars with low resonance. Also mentioning the genre and amount will make you get more on-point recommendations.

Imho, It can be the most problematic factory between IWJ, ISJ, and ICJ due to the QC issues I bumped into repeatedly but I'm happy to hear that from you. Play it in the good days!
@@WrathVault QC problems its maybe due to market testing, but now they tend to be more stable quality like the X and Pro. And for JS series all made in china
It went sour during the pandemic, but in the last year, I purchased 2 Pro series Jackson, which are RR24Q Winterstorm and KV Pro Two-Faced, and the issues on the paint and tool marks around the guitars killed my hype. And those were ISJ's. Still, nothing from ISJ and ICJ beat my 2013 IWJ KV Pro, I really missed the quality of those axes. I don't have that much Jackson around these days, but I'm still a true huge fanboy of Jackson. Hope they will fix this at some point.
@@WrathVault yeahh the IWJ version are great thats why PRS SE are produce by World Music too, but i still like jackson because of graphite reinforcement are great addition due to neck stability
I never played a bad PRS SE, owned a Custom SE 22, also bought a Custom SE 24, and spent quite some time with SE Mushok... Flawless machines, you're right. But the mojo of the Jackson is a whole different thing. Still, I'm too hesitant to purchase a new one. I stuck with my KV2, KV Pro Mustaine, and Indo KV Pro maybe more than 12 - 18 months.

Rahatlık öznel bir konu, herkes için en uygunudur diyemem. Ama V şekilli gitarlar benim için ilk deneyimimden beri en rahat gitarlar oldu. Ancak görece kısa boylu arkadaşlar için de problem olabilen bir durumda. Benzer şekilde Dinky/Soloist gibi superstrat gitarlar, benim için hep sol omuzda ağrıya sebep oldu. Özetle, biraz deneyerek karar vermek en doğrusu.

in my experience the Jackson guitars made in China are usually better than the indonesian guitars. i never had any problems with made in china guitars, except for the ghastly shitty tuning machines. the indonesian made ones on the other hand... garbage, every single one i had my hands on, plastics with sharp edges, finish jobs with finger prints or not properly taped off areas, headstocks visibly made from tiny pieces of wood glued together, scratchy frets. all things i've never experienced on china made guitars. even for the pro series in 1000€ range, the indonesian ones have the exact same problems between the JS, X and Pro series, while the Chinese made JS series has occasionally have tiny visual things but nothing functional, while the Chinese Pro series has always been flawless for me.
@@WrathVault oh i wouldn't rely on the USA select either. seen some vids of people having problem with those too. imagine buying a 4000€ instrument from the customshop basically, and it comes with several imperfections in the paint. you basically can't trust any guitar you havn't played before purchase. the problems people report about instruments have become more prevalent, because more people order online now, and don't get to inspect the instrument pre-purchase at the store. all the made in mexico guitars i own, as well as all i've ever tried in shops were excellent, but there's people who have had qc issues with them. it's weird and wild how everyone perceives different places of manufacture differently. i'm very hesitant now when buying indonesian made ones, but i don't rule it out completely. my RR5T pro series rhoads is indonesian made, and it has it's flaws, like the pickup rings being rough around the edges, the headstock being made out of smaller pieces, the piece of sheet metal where the strings go through being bent a bit. i didn't send it back, cause it's mostly minor things i can fix myself with basic hand tools. only thing that irks me really, is the headstock, every time i look at it from the rear. i wish the, would still be finishing the necks on all neck through models, and i ask myself why they even stopped doing that. besides all of that, the guitar plays perfectly, sounds good and hangs off the strap nicely, not top heavy at all.

IWJ s are really solid axes. I have one and still love it.
I had rhoads ICJ serial number and still feel great just upgrade tuner and stainless steel frets
