29 now, been wanting to turkey hunt most of my life. This year I finally told my boss I’m taking a week off to hunt. I have never been so angry, followed by overwhelming joy then when I was turkey hunting. Dropped a big Jake on day 3. It started raining on me around 2:45pm, had been out there ass in the dirt trading calls with 3 gobblers since 8am. Around 3:30 when I’d had it, I hit the pot call a couple more times. Few minutes went by and I started thinking about packing up when 2 big jakes came smoking in. Ended up killing 2 more jakes but couldn’t get the gobblers. I had a shot at one and hate myself for not taking it. I was waiting for a perfect shot and he got one look at my decoy and dipped off into the river bed never saw him again. Prettiest bird I’ve ever seen. Safe to say I’m hooked on turkey hunting.
