My dads name was robert, people called him robin since childhood long before Robin Williams was a house hold name. He was born in the 50s. He was hysterical. The funniest person I to this day have ever met. 99% of my childhood was him doing a bit, panty hoes on the head chasing us, going to my school in dresses and fuzzy cowboy hats, making wildly inappropriate jokes. His mannerisms were so much like Robin Williams. EVERYONE always compared him to him. All my friends thought i was the luckiest kid in the world having him as my dad and i was. However, what they all never seen was his demons that he carried that were HUGE many of times I stayed at my cousins or friends while he did mental hospital stints. He struggled with addiction and did have 20 years sober before he fell back off the wagon and he teetered on the sober and not for years. When i was 17 i came home it was 2010 and he had taken his own life. Everyone was SHOCKED. his funeral was at a church where every pew was packed. The walls were lined with people. Many of them coming up to me telling me they had met him ONCE and they thought about him everyday since and were sobbing over his death. It was crazy to see how much people cherished their 20 minute interactions with him and surface level interactions. I still will run into people at the store that will say things like "are you robs daughter" "arent you the girl who her dad wore a dress" haha. Anyways when Robin Williams took his life too it was so surreal. It shattered my soul and i didnt even know i could care about a celeb death like that.

Wanted to add just as a note to my dad's unhinged ridiculousness he wrote to each of us kids in his suicide note. My siblings were all in their 30s when he died. On my part he wrote "I know you all think Valerie is my favorite but it's actually Little Kev. HEHEHEHEHEHE." he literally wrote out a long hehe in his suicide note. They had me read it at his funeral and reading those hehes at a funeral was definitely something. Haha. Little Kev is one of my cousins. Lol. So even in his most desperate moment he threw out a silly joke.

BTW, the tragic death in the movie, was altered from the real life Patch Adam's biography, still was a best friend, but in real life was a he, not a she. Patch Adam's biography is still going on, one of his videos on TH-cam shares how he felt about Robin after Robin's death, and another shares how he decided to cope with needing his foot amputated. He is still alive at nearly 75 years old, and still doing good and making people laugh.

Interesting!! I wonder why they decided to make the character a woman instead?! I'll have to look up his reaction to Robin's passing. I'm sure that would be a great watch!

Look at Patch Adam's TH-cam videos to find out how much of the movie is true, but the Geshundheit Institute is a real place you can go to learn to heal and/or to be healed, with humor and love. The video about Robin starts to touch on how much of the movie is true, but there may be others that go into more. BTW, Robin is thought to have had progressing Lewey Body Dementia that was causing him to lose his ability to act and clown around, and that may be why he chose when his life should end, before he slipped visibly and lost all his abilities and had people thinking of him with pity rather than admiration. But I wish Robin would have reached out to Patch when he began to feel suicidal, because some time with Patch and the Gesundheit Institute could have helped him to feel good about what he still had, rather than what he was losing, just as Patch is doing with his amputation now.

That's never a good way to go, but I can certainly respect Robin for deciding his own fate before he lost his ability to think for himself :( I had never heard he might have had that! That's terrifying and sad :/

If you are still struggling with autoimmune disorder, consider spending a family vacation at the Geshundheit Institute, where your whole family can learn the art of healing with laughter and fun. Patch has retired to Urbana, IL, so he will not be at the G. Institute, but the people running it now are just as good at connecting, laughing and loving.

BTW, for the estrogen-challenged host, the stirrups are used at every gynecological exam for your whole life from your early teen years until you die, whether or not you ever get pregnant, as is the speculum, and I'm not going to tell you how the later gets used, you can look it up for yourself, but if you think a prostrate exam is bad, you ain't seen nothing yet!

🤣🤣🤣 I luckily haven't needed a prostate exam yet and I'd like to keep it that way 🤣 yikes!!

the reason why this movie is so disliked is because it made a fool out of teh real Patch Adams, and the fact they changed the gender and death of his friend for a cliche tragic love story.

That's so weird! I definitely didn't know that about the switching the friend out when you told me, but I thought it still made for a great story!
