As soon as I saw the first of Arthar's videos, I knew there was gonna be some madge out in the community over various QoL stuff mobile has that we've been asking for in retail, and Sly over here fulfilling my prediction immediately lmao! Love it!
Honestly as a storm blood veteran this honestly looks like the easiest way to actually enjoy base arr and HW and the joy of raiding in those. Hoping that they do something about Gordias though🥶
That would honestly be so much better than playing it on a tiny 6 inch >16:9 iPhone screen lmao But yeah, given the previous signals they gave on potentially porting retail FFXIV to Switch 2, I don't see why that one wouldn't be prioritized first
Just shows HOW bad the state of "retail" FF14 really is. Makes me really sad. All those little qol the devs just can't be bothered to do like the moving whale on the map or the friend list that do not even have the technical limitation excuse. Things the fans have been asking for YEARS now and a damn mobile game does it. And still I can see people defend it all... At this point and with DT's MSQ I actually wonder if the devs are even at work for more than 2 days a week. Edit: It was actually funny seeing Sly lose his mind the more qol he saw. I get you man.
This looks like a great mobile implementation of the game! Nothing for me to be personally madge about at all. The real trick is going to be not messing it up with the monetization. Though keep in mind that that monetization just needs to be acceptable to the Chinese audience who will be playing this first. Whenever a Global version shows up, it'll likely have different monetization and other localization details. But that is likely years away at this point.
Holy shit how am I just learning about the ctrl click to click on the npc/interact thing. I played starting with the original beta for ARR. I have clicked another person 234098572390845792038475902374598273498572398457 times in however many years of playing.
One thing I'm still curious about is housing with Mobile. I wonder if at some point they would have some kind of link between Retail and Mobile like War Thunder for example with useing War Thunder Mobile to keep the daily log in thing going without needing access to the PC/Console version that would be nice for people that would be away from their PC/Console for a extended period of time such as people on vacation or working away from home, for FFXIV they could perhaps have something so Mobile could be used to somehow reset the auto demolition of housing on Retail?
I've been saying for years that what we need is XIV-2, in a new engine that doesn't suffer from past mistakes. Without carrying our characters over, so they can actually rebuild the entire thing from the ground up without having to take old stuff into account like they had to do for ARR. This mobile version is living proof of what could be done if SE decided to make the jump. I would gladly sacrifice my character if it meant having a much more solid game systems that allows the devs to innovate and produce content more efficiently.

Watch them port this to the switch 2 instead of retail ffxiv x.x

I kinda wonder if this project was started before anyone knew the specs of the switch 2 too lol

I still hope there's plans for pvp on mobile, would be fun to do CC or FL while waiting somewhere

If it has predatory monetization then zzzzzzz
It does look nice though i hope it turns out to not be p2w

Looks amazing and all but I think I'll stick with the current ff14 I don't feel like starting over again
