I think this album is more of a reconciling of what her career has been. She has always sort of switched up completely every era, and this has a little bit of everything.
Also, the album is meant to be divided in "AM" and "PM" sides, with Handstand is like an interlude. So the beginning is more chill, then it goes more dance-y and psychodelic, then to the ballads because according to her "the night can be a time to go wild, but then to rest".
I was also a bit underwhelmed by River at first, but I think it's a bop and it might be one of my favs. I see what they were thinking making it a single, but I think it didn't go so well because it's too different from the vibes of Flowers, plus the disco trend has kinda died down already.

Nice to see you Back! Flower is definatly the standout of the album. The rest of the songs may sound good on independent listening, but they somewhat feel a little flat when listened consecutively one after another.

have you listened to "Used To Be Young" the newest Endless Summer Vacation single?
It’s sooo hard to let Plastic Hearts go. So far, it’s her artistic peak. I really anticipated Miles to carry with the rock sound. Endless Summer Vacation is quite cute tho. I enjoyed it, bought the vinyl and honestly very happy for her commercial success. The album is alright, but comparing to some other stuff, it’s underwhelming.
The Disney special was nice, nothing special, but helps to feel the vibe she was aiming for.

I find Flowers to be bit boring and average. I also dont like how the lyrics are basically copy pasted from When I Was Your Man, it feels lazy. Dont get the hype around it all, like you said I think its all drama why it got so much attention

@@SalRocha it's not drama really. It's how now promotion works. I'm huge fan of Miley, but it's quite awkward to use all these dirty shit to promo the song. Moreover as she refused all cheating rumors previously and hated all vilianazing rumors towards herself. And all these absence of interview from her side, indicates that it is better to let all these fakes live in order to promote the song and album, even if this is not true. It's really sad for me, because it's not about art at all
The same feelings as yours towards this album comparing to Plastic Hearts. It feels to me like PH was currently her best record. I think without these fake unconfirmed rumors spreaded from Twitter about cheating, Flowers wouldn't have risen as it did. I like this song but it feels like it's not as good as it fired. Any song from PH is better for me. From ESV I prefer Jaded, it seems to me the best song from the new album.
