Have seen America about 10 different times in 5 different states over 45 years in venues over 60K or as few as 100 people where we stood 10 ft away on stage level and spoke to the band between songs. I’ve never seen a bad show or met nicer guys. Every band I’ve ever played in had several America covers. It will never get old. Thanks for all of the memories !!❤❤
Two legends!! To be that successful and talented and be so down to earth and normal is amazing. In a business renowned for egomaniacs, druggies and crazy people, to be so humble is a tribute to them and their families. Its also such an amazing story to start so young, find success so quickly and still be performing so fantastically well after 50 years is incredible.
My favorite band! Love these two guys. Great interview. They make me laugh. Had a 45 record of A Horse With No Name and played it over and over growing up. It's neck and neck with Ventura Highway as my favorite songs ever. Saw America in Nashville at the Ryman in June 2023. Up there with the top-most cherished memories ever.
I played Drums and then guitar and loved this group as they made quality acoustic music you loved at the first chord .... song after song - Still a fan and I am their age ! GBjj
The first album is so good , and from 3 very young very talented guys . Their guitar work was so clean and vocally very tight . America were never going to fail , they hit the ground running . Love them ❤
Funny how some people make comments that they talk about their fathers but not their mothers. They also don’t talk about their siblings. It comes down to the interviewer’s questions regarding their fathers being in the military. Great band, nice guys and loved their music.
I like the America songs , when they are playing, no Beach boys, no Beatles, thank you very much, just America, they have enough songs in their catalog to last a long long time, i know, I have them and play them
Gerry Beckley s solo albums are really good. He did one album (Big Brother), with Chicago s Robert Lamm and Beach Boys s Carl Wilson that you should all check. Also, in every country you will be surprised that some "deep cuts" were hits (Seasons, All Around, Moving Train, Amber Cascades, Jet Boy Blue and many others)
Dewey’s songs were extremely evocative of the feeling of a place, or particular time and place, and they had the most substance; they should have continued in this vein rather than going down the road of the more popular, superficial, love songs - then, they would not have ‘disappeared’ in the 80s and they could have been massive.
@@baileyruel1985 Gerry stated in another interview he was too young to have any recollection of being born in Texas , out of the 3 of them Gerry's accent is softer he's got what I call an American/British sound . Being British I recognise this . Dewey not at all and I'm sure both of Dan's parents were American .
My favourite band.. however Mr B was born in England and Mother was English and Mr J B Mother was English....yet always Dads get the mention. Dan... American on both sides. He loved England. Irony.
I’m here for the musical history not necessarily their ancestry but thanks for the data. Now I know they were are into The Beach Boys love the blending of their vocal cords so they where Air Force Brats nice one thumbs woohoo jet boy blue? Maybe?! All speculation on that one going to hear it now…thanks algorithms 🎉
Your researchers would have known and told you . Mr B was born in England. I lived through these times and playing in bands. Glad you have the data. Which is not really important in most people's lives 😂
This band has class those songs are iconic beautiful music😊

From day one loved America, followed Dan Peeks career.❤❤❤

Great America band never fade until now

They never were as good after Dan Peek left. They lost that great three part harmony. RIP Dan
NO CREDIT AT ALL GIVEN TO DAN PEEK. THE MOST TALENTED OF THE THREE.
No english accents Did they once have it?
Nope, they’re all American born they just happened to all meet up in England
@@baileyruel1985 father's were in the military and at one time in England.
One parent of each of them was English, I believe.

Strange how they never mention their mothers were/are English...
lol, Gerry asks David Gilmour, do you "Remember that Night"? I wonder if he did that on purpose? Great Song too.
Great duo. Creepy interviewer.
Yeah , odd
America lost it's cool 70's vibe by 1980 . Dan Peaks departure didn't help.
Absolutely correct.
@@afterlate8866 Very true , the 3 part harmonies can't be replicated by 2 , although I think they carried the torch well 😊
Worse than AC/DC, Aerosmith AND KC and the Sunshine Band. And that's saying something.
What ?
