Imagine your father just telling you you’re about to be trafficked but you need to help him out and start yelling stuff about what you see. This movie was insanely intense from this scene onward.
I also think it's a great lesson on what to do in these situations. I don't mean call Liam, just call the local emergency services (cops) and do the same thing.
What will always stand out to me is how Liam Neeson played it during the "Set of skills" speech. At the start, after hearing his daughter get dragged off to who knows were while she's screaming in terror, Brian is clearly the scared out of his mind/"I'm powerless to stop this" parent. However, as he goes on his speech, that fear/powerlessness is changed to an unstoppable determination to get Kim back and he's basically telling those who took her: "I'm coming for you and there isn't a dang thing you can do about it."
His training kicks in, change in his whole demeanor, telling his daughter, calmly to tell him certain particulars. The way you are trained, your subconscious mind kicks in immediately, and you internally calm down. You have enhanced ability to focus, and that training kicks in. My 2 favorite scenes are that holding house, and the yacht. When you're focused on a goal, and you have the ability to harness your adrenaline, you become a weapon. In martial arts, if you pay attention, not only are you taught to hit, but how to hit/strike, with precise force. For training in any of the governments "special divisions" take everything up several notches. Yes, it is possible to go through multiple opponants, especially if you're trained and their not, or they only have moderate training.
@@eriktruthbringer11 ??? Some people doubt something like this movie is possible, like they doubted the First Blood scenario, 1 guy taking out all of those cops. I took the 1st line of his comment to mean he was in doubt it was possible. I’m just saying it is. Green Berets were like 250 men. CIA same. Both movies, guy’s in the theater were saying it was fake and “no way”.
I was deeply saddened by stories like Amy Bradley (s3x traffic victim in real life) and yet it’s impossible for me to understand the level of despair her parents live ever since. Only a father/mother can really understand that.
This guy Trained Obi Wan to be a Jedi. This guy has gone Solo and saved Passengers on a Plane. This guy saved a Submarine. This guy trained Bruce Wayne to be Batman. This guy led the A Team. This guy took on an entire pack of Wolves in the Alaska Wilderness. He has done all this because he has a particular set of skills. 😂
"DADDY!" Gets me everytime..Makes me want my Dad. Our issues aside, i know he would do whatever he could to at least try to find me..Sad thing is, like the friend said, after a certain amount of time you can truly be gone, more than likely forever. What a mind job..
A very US point of view, we in Europe feel you overprotect your kids. Mine wanted to school on their own, 2 km, from 1 grade on. Our kids take the subway on their own, starting with 12 years. My daughter travels on her own though the world, Asia, Australia and now South America - on the road on her own since 2 years and 4 month, she left right after she turned 18. And it is maybe saver to travel to Europe, especially France and Germany, vs many US cities.
@PeterLustig-f8c No offence but if not letting a minor travel to another continent alone is "overprotecting" then I sure am glad we're overprotecting our kids...
Crazy thing is he was right, the mom and duaghter lived in a bubble and dint think anything would happen. but he doesnt hold the blame against them, he just goes and saves her. and lets the kidnappers know they grabbed the wrong girl
The best part about this scene is how he follows through. Even after torturing the information from his daughter's kidnapper, he still kills the man in one of the most brutal of ways.
Great movie. Pity Liam has parked his particular set of skills. I was hoping for one more outing for Bryan Mills, maybe his buddy Sam got taken hostage and Mills has to work out how to rescue his friend and both get out of dodge alive......
je me suis un peu pris pour vous , mais c'était sous la pression😂 , et c'était pas très dangereux ... notemment pour mon casier judiciaire ... mais suite au prochain épisode
Somewhere in the multiverse, Ra's al Ghul was trying to save Black Canary along with his daughter with Jean Grey, who herself was later killed by Jacob Kane who framed Ra's for it
3:53 to 4:00. That's really messed up if you think about it. If what Liam is saying here is true, if they agree to this I guess screw the other girl they took, she's on her own.
Nah. Liam then gets an even more accurate description of them from his daughter, and then he finds them even faster, saves the other girl, and still kills them.
The START of his career? 'Taken' was released in 2008. He played Qui-Gon Jinn in 1999, Rob Roy in 1995, and won an Academy Award for Best Actor playing Oskar Schindler in 1993.
This is preposterous and utterly stupid. If he knew they were trying to take her he can call the hotel/police. Nobody would ever do anything like this. This is dumb.
@borood1188 are you REALLY this naive?! No matter whether it's small town America, NYC, London, Paris, Tokyo etc....every police force on the planet has a certain level of bureaucracy that can't be magically "sped up" just because you're a visiting foreigner saying "HELP! My daughter has been taken" (not to mention these are seasoned traffickers) who 1. Have side deals with local law enforcement to ensure they either get away or the investigation hits roadblocks... 2. Getting off the phone with listening to your daughter get taken (permanently if a leader isn't uncovered in a certain time frame)..."just call the cops' half way across the pond really doesn't work when they have a REALLY BIG HEAD start and the cops won't have the response time someone a block over making the call would 🤦♂️....and 3....(Yes it's a movie)....but part of me would think this conversation wouldn't even take place in real life as the abductor (not knowing who's on the other line) wants to give any more "evidence" than necessary (even given the likelihood they'll get away regardless)....
Quite possibly one of the greatest scenes and lines of any movie in history.
Agreed

What he says to him on the phone still gives me goosebumps to this day
It’s a good thing Kim called precisely when she did. If she called half an hour earlier, he wouldn’t have had a clue what happened to her
What will always stand out to me is how Liam Neeson played it during the "Set of skills" speech. When he says “and I WILL find you” …😱
And thus began, Liam’s greatest project of the 21st century! ❤😊
since i became a father, this has become a horror film
I was deeply saddened by stories like Amy Bradley (s3x traffic victim in real life) and yet it’s impossible for me to understand the level of despair her parents live ever since. Only a father/mother can really understand that.
Right there with you!
definitely
With you brother.. especially with teenage daughter..
Good thing Liam Neeson ended up being the movie monster for those kidnappers
This guy Trained Obi Wan to be a Jedi.
This guy has gone Solo and saved Passengers on a Plane.
This guy saved a Submarine.
This guy trained Bruce Wayne to be Batman.
This guy led the A Team.
This guy took on an entire pack of Wolves in the Alaska Wilderness.
He has done all this because he has a particular set of skills. 😂
Your assessment seems to be correct and accurate 😂
But most of all He has the will to act
You're forgetting that he also played Aslan AKA JESUS CHRIST.
He also saved a bunch of Jews
and he was the mighty zeus god of gods on two ocassions lol
A very particular set if skills ❤
You know this movie really does make many fathers think about what they would really do for their families
Liam Neeson talks about skills more than a rap battle.
I watched this movie. This scene is iconic 😮
Question: Who thought it was a good idea to mess with a father who has a particular set of skills that can make a person's situation more hazardous?
Best introduction of all time !
One of the BEST. EVER. 👊❤🙏😀
"DADDY!"

Master Qui-Gon Jinn with a very particular set of skillz
😂
Iconic cinematic moment
What kind of mother says it’s okay for her 17 old daughter to go to Europe by herself with her best friend?

Yt people
The best scene in the whole movie.
Soon as she said they took her friend he got his suitcase and he was ready to go…
This was an awesome movie and that scene is classic!!!!
And thus a meme was born.
They messed wth the wrong dad!!
Every father should have a built in instinct to be able to find their children when they are in danger.
Very good movie. I'll have to watch it again.
Crazy thing is he was right, the mom and duaghter lived in a bubble and dint think anything would happen. but he doesnt hold the blame against them, he just goes and saves her. and lets the kidnappers know they grabbed the wrong girl
When Liam Neeson did the movie that WOULD CHANGE EVERYTHING
The best part about this scene is how he follows through. Even after torturing the information from his daughter's kidnapper, he still kills the man in one of the most brutal of ways.
it's just a fabulous technique to fill out my empty criminal record file ... and there's a lot of this kind techniques
2024: Take a pic and hit send
"Good luck."
Marco should have corrected his grammar, it should be “What I do have IS a particular set of skills”
This movie relaunched Neeson's career
It changed his career into an action star. Only 3 years before he'd played Ra's al Ghul
Great movie. Pity Liam has parked his particular set of skills. I was hoping for one more outing for Bryan Mills, maybe his buddy Sam got taken hostage and Mills has to work out how to rescue his friend and both get out of dodge alive......
Why would i want to leave when my happy thoughts about to come true.
Classic
The sheer stupidity from the bad guy on the phone. 🤦🏽♂️
In the words of retired Tulsa PD Sargent Sean "Sticks" Larkin: "We don't catch the smart ones."
When I watched this the first time, I remember saying to a friend, "Oh crap they taunted Obi-Wan, that can't go well for them. And it didn't.
Qui-Gon*
A SPECIAL SET OF SKILLS!
hollywood movies talk about it like it's not an S file ... but this entertainment they ask nothing
Should have never gave the father +10% luck.

A pretty lame plot, but turned out to be a beast of a movie..... Neeson carried it all 👏👏

Wtf
Schindler’s list came out in the early 90s.
The start of his career? 😂 Neeson has been revered since the 90s...
This was far far off from the start of his career
The START of his career? 'Taken' was released in 2008. He played Qui-Gon Jinn in 1999, Rob Roy in 1995, and won an Academy Award for Best Actor playing Oskar Schindler in 1993.

This is preposterous and utterly stupid. If he knew they were trying to take her he can call the hotel/police. Nobody would ever do anything like this. This is dumb.
His daughter and her friend (Amanda) were staying in Amanda's cousin's apartment, not a hotel.
Also, its a movie.
@ An apartment building doesn’t have phones? I’m pretty sure you call the police to report crimes.
He didn’t trust police to find her in time
