Looks like you made this video 7 years ago and has answered a lot of questions for me to. I'm trying to send the morning and if it helps I'll respond again tomorrow. 🙏🙌
This is the most helpful video I have seen for my problem thus far. I was riding my gsxr and my chain snapped and it took out the push rod with it as well. I was contemplating on if I needed to split the motor to put the new one in
Great video but you don’t have to take any bolts off just pop the rubber boot off us a 10mm socket to just crack the bolt loose then adjust with flat head a quarter turn counter clockwise after you feel tension going clockwise
Bruhhhhhhh😆😆😆😆😆 thank you so much for this video. I have a 2005 gsxr 750 is my baby lol. So after Trying to do rolling burnout for my first time ever after my 3rd time notice my clutch handle had a lot of play on it so i took off home rite after lol. So I'm going up a hill and I noticed my clutch slipping on high rpm only. I tried adjusting it from the handle like 10 times and no luck at ALL . BUT after watching your video I notice I was doing everything wrong so I did exactly what you did on your video on my bike and man I tell you this my clutch handle and clutch grip couldn't feel any better my bike is actually running 100% better than what it was thank you so much for this upload. Clutch it's gripping 100%
I have a 2002 GSXR 1000 I bought it brand new December of 2001 I opened the box it came in . until recently I have never had any issues with it other than new tires about every six months or so I've been pretty good to it but it's 2020 and father time is starting to catch up! recently I had to replace my chain and sprockets, and now my fork seals are leaking and as you all know motorcycle repairs can be very costly .The new mechanic I've been dealing with has been pretty cool and Fair on his prices but they always try to recoup it one way or the other he noticed my clutch cable had a lot of Slack an adjusted it but he also mentioned I would be needing a new clutch soon which worried me. I also never take anybody on their word I'm very skeptical so I did some research and purchased a new clutch cable hoping that would be the issue the same day after buying the cable I ran across this video and illustration on cable adjustment I followed your instructions word by word and to my surprise not only did I not need a new clutch but I now need to return the new cable I bought because my bike works like the day I bought it . thank you very much for your help and advice👍 truly grateful fellow motorcyclist
Rick Martinez That’s awesome! I was sick of seeing the same stupid videos online of people “adjusting” the cable the complete wrong way. Someday I hope to buy a brand new bike out of the box too!
because I have the same bike an my slips on high rpm my clutch has meat on it so it's not totally shot .hoping this does the trick.great video.glad you don't jump into a bunch of unrelated bullshit like other people do.look forward to more videos.
very informative. and this just helped me fix my bike. I was doing a sprocket kit and after I got this cover off I thought it would be a good idea to take the nut and adjustment screw out to clean them up and messed it up. it was kinda difficult to find a video on this. thanks for the information.
I'm hoping this will be my clutch issue, i have a 2003 rgsx600 and the clutch cable just bounces around. Its not broke and that part at 2:18 still moves like yours does. The last guy said he put new plates in it and it still doesn't work, when I got it from him the lever just bounced around like it wasn't even connected.
Out of nowhere my clutch just stopped engaging completely, when i go in gear it would grind. I adjusted the clutch cable at the top a bit and ittl go in gear, but immediately stall out the bike instead of engaging smooth. Im gonna try this and if that dosent work im gonna replace the whole cable. Fyi i have a bit of fluid leaking from the bottom of the clutch cable.
The book says screw in till you feel resistance, then, 1 and a 1/4 turn out.. You say1/4 turn out after you feel resistance , so I'm not sure, which it is or which works better
I got my Gixxer a few months ago and it feels like it engages and disengages as it should but it feels hard to pull compared to a lot of other bikes. Do you think this would kind of adjustment would make the lever easier to pull?
Mine was missing the spring, the tab to keep the cable in, and a stack of little magnets fell from somewhere. I can't for the life of me figure out where the magnets go or if they're even supposed to be there
One cable is the throttle cable that “pulls” the slide open on the carbs. The other is used to close/return and snap back your throttle on the handle bar.
The point of the other cable is incase the return spring on the throttle breaks, that way you're not stuck with an open throttle. It's a safety feature.
Hi mate my cable is fully adjusted out on the leaver and the bottom nut all the way out can I still do this I think or do I need change the cable, just bought the bike and noticed it, it's under warranty or should I just take bike back n get them to change it
yeah i just did it on my gsxr 600Y i only had to turn lever dial out once. im at 0.5 inch free play, but i did dial the lower cable out quite a ways. cus before i made sure the inner part was on a good angle. but when i did thd screw n nut i stopped when i felt resistance, so i cant compare lol
i did give the cable on the sprkt end some slack. now my dial is 2 spins out n has the free play. only thing... i turned the work screw out at tension 1/8 turn, is that ok? 1/4 seems alot n you would have barely any cable in sprocket??
yeah to achieve it its all in the sprocket cover side and 1/8 or so turn out on worm gear. the manual says 1/4 but youd have to dial lots out on sprkt side lol
I'm not 100% sure but if I had to guess I'd say its the same process. If you take the front sprocket cover off you should be able to tell if you can see the clutch rod and roller cam that pushes it.
Hey, I have a 2006 gsxr 600 that I put new levers on... well I put them on and now the lever doesn't return like spring back into place. Any help? Thanks!
I would check to see that the bottom adjustment were the push rod "pushes" toward the clutch. Thats where all your return pressure is coming from. Sorry for late reply.
Hey bro I have the exact same bike and I'm having problems with it and I was gonna ask you if I described the problem to you maybe you can give me an idea of what it is, any advice would totally help!
Trackside Solution Okay so my bike when on 1st gear I release the cluth and give it some throttle and it kinda hesitates then it and I'm going like 25 and it sounds super reved so I'm forced to switch to second and so on and when I'm on 6th gear the top speed I go is 90mph cause the bike sounds like super reved like it's gonnna explode it sounds like I'm topping it at max speed, any ideas of what it could be?
Jorge D'leon if you have already checked the adjustment. My first guess would lead me to believe that your clutch plates are worn out causing the clutch to spin up without "grabbing". May need to get new clutch plates.
Trackside Solution Trackside Solution Oh okok so yeah I'll adjust it first then after that I'll check the clutches bro I'll let you know what happens man thanks for the help I appreciate it!
AudioAction Clutch plates are fine they are still like new. I just did a motor swap now it is letting out too fast how should I go about making it so where it release a little later? Because as soon as I let the clutch out a little its like it wants to take off, but instead it shuts off.
+INFINITYCL hard to diagnose without seeing the problem in person. Clutch basket springs could be to still or torqued down incorrectly. Or could be a deal of adjustment. Hard to say.
+Cody Peterson have to use key to get rear seat off then there are two bolt towards the front of the front seat on the left and right side. Thanks for watching!
Dude, i own a 2004 gsxr 1000 and have this issue too. Everything adjusted and new clutch install but no bite, can you help before i kill myself seriously

wow thanks bro! saved me $1000 bucks at a dealer who was tryna rip me off saying i had faulty clutch plates! cheers!!!
Literally saving my life right now! I messed up my clutch today going to do everything you say tomorrow !
I'm glad this helped out. Thanks for watching! Ride safe!
Had one of those "Do as I say not as I do" moments there didja?🤣🤣😆😆
Still helping people till this day! Everyone said my clutch was blown but guess who’s pulling hard agin!? Me 😁 thanks brother!
More helpful then any one the videos I watched. 1996 works the same way. Thanks 🤙🏻

10mm socket stuck over flathead works gr8
Awesome video. Thanks buddy.
Should the chain be bouncing about like that or does it need adjusting,
Could you adjust it from the bottom without replacing it?
Hey have a question what is the difference between the top cable and bottom cable for the throttle cable
One cable is the throttle cable that “pulls” the slide open on the carbs. The other is used to close/return and snap back your throttle on the handle bar.
I adjusted the top one do I need to adjust the bottom one too
chucky 7923 yes. Adjust it to the point where it is not tight with just a little bit of free play.
You gained a subscriber
The point of the other cable is incase the return spring on the throttle breaks, that way you're not stuck with an open throttle. It's a safety feature.
Might be a dumb question but whatever lol So after you take out the push rod, should oil come out since the rod is out?
Oil will not come out. The oil level is much lower than where that rod is in the motor.
Trackside Solution alright thanks, just picked up the bike so I'm trying to get everything figured out with it. Appreciate the help and great video
@@mr.smetty7130 it depends, if you were riding before there could be some small oil dripping from the hole, but normally nothing comes out
will help if there's clutch drag or slipping clutch? I mean if it's to tight will the clutch slip?
Could be possible. Easy way to find out would be to make the adjustment and see if it helps. Its a simple process.
Great video, would this be the same for my 2003?
Not 100% sure but I would image it is.
What would make my clutch pressure plate engages but doesn't go back in unless I keep my hand on it
Thanks again 🪖🧡🦈
Hi mate my cable is fully adjusted out on the leaver and the bottom nut all the way out can I still do this I think or do I need change the cable, just bought the bike and noticed it, it's under warranty or should I just take bike back n get them to change it
If its under warranty and you are unsure, I'd say take it in. It could be an issue of the cable not running down the right path the way it should be.
My rod is stripped where can I find a new one to get the tension that I need
change to 2nd gear. less bounce on your chain.
Saved be bro good looks
Nice bike
Did you have a spring on your cam??
after all of this did you spin the lever out a bit to achieve ur release point, i found when i dial mine out it releases higher
The clutch lever, i believe, is suppose to have 5-10 mm of free play. Thats the last step you do.
yeah i just did it on my gsxr 600Y i only had to turn lever dial out once. im at 0.5 inch free play, but i did dial the lower cable out quite a ways. cus before i made sure the inner part was on a good angle. but when i did thd screw n nut i stopped when i felt resistance, so i cant compare lol

It’s been a while since I did this. I just went my the service manual
yeah to achieve it its all in the sprocket cover side and 1/8 or so turn out on worm gear. the manual says 1/4 but youd have to dial lots out on sprkt side lol
Can I do this on a 2013 750? And no oil has to be spilled then ?
I'm not 100% sure but if I had to guess I'd say its the same process. If you take the front sprocket cover off you should be able to tell if you can see the clutch rod and roller cam that pushes it.
Thanks bro I'll give it a go
I have a 2013 gsxr 1000 damn thing doesn't like to go to the neutral position is adjusting the clutch cable the issue you think?
FuturisticViper probably not. You may have internal damage to a shift fork or shift detent inside.
Whats the name of that cover
My man!
Hey, I have a 2006 gsxr 600 that I put new levers on... well I put them on and now the lever doesn't return like spring back into place. Any help? Thanks!

Did you actually replace the clutch cable at all?
Anthony S. Yes. Old cable way frayed.
thank you!!

it would have been nice if I could have heard a word you said....
My whole clutch cover pries out when I pull the clutch in . Any advice ?
Take it all apart and find out what was installed wrong.
That means the set screw was too far in when you put the cover back on, just back it off a few turns and it will work
