Good to know! That was based off the claimed weight of 53.5g in the Amazon link (in the description) to the casting rod. It sounds like they just did a copy/paste when publishing that page. I'll pin your comment. Thank you!
Thanks. All reviews are helpful. There are good groups on Facebook with people who have a lot of experience doing BFS. And reviewers on TH-cam for rods, reels and lines. Mavlos Delicacy is the rod that a lot of those BFS guys use. All Mavlos rods are dirt cheep on Aliexpress. Many BFS rods are sold with 2 tips. I enjoyed your review. Good job 👍🐟
Yep after doing my extensive research the Mavllos Delicacy was the one i chose, every bfs angler has one and uses it. The rod comes with a fast tip and medium making it ideal to use for soft plastics bottom fishing along with using the medium tip for crankbaits. The commando has 2 spools deep and shallow, having those customization options on the fly for a little over $50 for the combo is phenomenal.
I almost got the Plume, but after watching a handful of reviews i decided to skip it. Between the lack of guides needs more guides and the locking nut for the reel it was an easy decision. Chose the Mavllos Delicacy instead and paired it up with a Seasir Commando reel the combo was little over $50. The lowest entry point for BFS, going to film some videos on my channel showcasing $50, $100, $150, $250, $300, combo's in bfs gets you and if it's even worth splurging the extra bucks. My buddy has anywhere from $500-1000 bfs combo's so I have already tried the best of the best i want to see what the budget market is looking like.
Hey mste, as a general rule BFS anglers will use .06 or .08 gou braid which is equivalent to 12lb. 4lb braid like you mentioned maybe have a tendency to get caught between the body and spool. BFS reels generslly have 4kg of drag so its no issue to have a higher breaking strain line. Ive reviewd both of those mavllos rods.
I believe I mentioned 4lf Fluoro elsewhere. If I said 4lb braid somewhere, it was a mistake. Regardless, The 6lb absolutely DID get caught up in the side of the spool of the Zephyr, OFTEN! That has never once happened with the the HICC50.
Mavllos Plume spinning rod is 53.5g...casting rod they say is 76g...just an FYI

There will be a lot more of that in the future.

Great video Barry. I noticed that you elected to exclude the dog's portion. LOL.
The cams were actually off for a vast majority of it. Otherwise it might already be a viral Karen video. Thanks again for helping out, Ron!
Dr. BarryP, researcher extraordinare. Very detailed.
