the way you respect people most don’t even look at is how you threaten anybody in your life - this defines who is a good person and who has a bad attitude 😢
This shows us that something that's so little has an even deeper meaning to it, even how small it is. It gives us a lesson. It gives us a meaning. It gives us a reminder on what we should be.
Aw this video made me think of my grandfather! He always told us wherever we go learn the housekeeper's name and the receptionist's and treat everyone the same.
I live by this, in fact I feel uncomfortable around snobbish ppl because you don’t know whether they’re genuine or not and most times than not, they’re superficial.
Respect is confusing nowadays for me, seems that people demand their respect aggressively when they haven’t earned it. They want to be feared not respected.
so you have two choices , show them smiles everytime , or tell them if they want respect they must give too , or nobody will talk to them anymore ... the fear of loneliness is a strong tool for disable aggressive peoples who make that for protect themselves .
Bro your professor is awesome! Please let him know how much we appreciate all these life lessons and THANK YOU even more for sharing him with us. Invaluable! Thank you again!
So there I was, watching Meir's videos on YT, enjoying them all, and wondering why he only has 86k subscribers. ...and then I found him on Facebook, and see he has videos with 250m views!! Meir... you deserve it. Keep it up!!
When I was a kid, I once thinked that I would say hello to everyone that I met and yup, they gladly gave me back greetings but right 1~2 hours later, I've realized that I was tired as fuck. You know what, "respect" doesn't mean greetings, or remembering someone's face, etc. It JUST means treating someone as a human.
Ollie... and Sallie. Those were the names of the two women who were the primary custodians at the college which I attended multiple decades ago. When I was first there, as a student, I happened to notice that they were somewhat 'invisible' to most all of my classmates, who simply passed by them without acknowledging their presence through either a nod of their head, a smile, or even a simple 'Hello'... let alone ever actually stopping to have a conversation with either of them. I gave each of them a greeting by name, and fairly often had conversations with each of them, following that first time in which we spoke with one another... those things taking place not only during my time there as a student, but also when I returned as an adjunct faculty member a few years after graduating. They were both somewhat shy and reserved women in their general natures, but that in no way prevented our having had many interesting conversations with one another over the years. A simple 'Hello' isn't anywhere near as difficult to give to another as the actions... or, lack thereof... of so many in our society would at first glance make it appear to be.
No clue what the video is about, because it's unintelligible at 0:42; presumably those words are intrinsic to the point; what is the first name of the woman who cleans the scoom? I see TH-cam's didn't generate captions either.
I had realized this before at a job we had. The lunch lady would give us, the adults free lunch, and no one knew her name. I asked her for her name and stopped referring to her as the lunch lady.
I myself have experienced an unexpected lesson in respect. It was after I was disrespectful to a worker. I took him to his boss’s office for his outgoing, tactile behavior at work. I told him he shouldn't touch anyone without consent. Just handshakes. I said we needed the workers to be comfortable in a good work environment, that he pretty much shouldn't talk about anything other than work and school. How he shouldn't tell his stories because they may be inappropriate to some degree to the other workers; funny to him only. I think he’s about 25. He seemed pretty quiet and uncomfortable during my speech. Answered a question or two with a nod and headshake. Then, that night, he fought a burly brute in downtown--who had a _knife._ The worker risked his life to save a would-be victim, despite being unarmed, shorter, and inexperienced in fighting. He could've easily gotten kiIIed. He almost did in fact. I was horrified when the man seemingly jabbed the knife in the worker's stomach (of course, the angle blocked my view). My worker was barely able to grip the knife-hand in time before it got IN. He got REALLY lucky. He kicked the brute *below,* got the knife, and hit the guy's head with the handle. I praised him for overpowering his enemy and saving a life but he told me I didn't truly respect him. That if it hadn't been for his heroism, I would've still thought very less of him. And you know what? I think he's right. I should've respected him before he vanquished an armed enemy. Heck, I should've been more delicate and sensitive when speaking to him. More filter, less touching at work? Yeah, but compromise would've been fine. Like, only touching friendly coworkers he gets along great with. It's perfectly natural to causally touch or tap people without it being creepy. He never meant to be that word. He just needed some limits. I should’ve shown more patience and _respect._ A *brief* talk in the *hall,* not formerly in the *office with his boss present.* And I shouldn’t have asked her if there anything she wanted to add. Plain insensitive. The guy never meant any discomfort or harm. He deserved better from me. I'm a jerk.
You are awesome for coming out very plainly and honestly taking the blame for your past mistake. That's so thoughtful of you! However, I sense that you haven't completely forgiven yourself nor healed from the incident. How about you let go already? Better still, find the person ( worker ) in question if he's within reach and apologize in person; that would mean a lot to him and say a lot about you. However, if that's impossible, continue life with the lesson - treat people nicely, you never know tomorrow!
Wouldnt work in the middle school i worked in. The students dont have a care in the world for anyone. Taught to them by their parente of course. If I had tried this lesson, it would turn into a bunch of eye rolling, and agumentative attitudes. Sad world we live in and yet one of the reasons we still have teachers putting up with the nonsense is because they care about the future of our society. God bless them even if they seem bad because they put up with all of it and then some.
This is a fantastic elaboration. A kindred book I read had a lasting imprint on me. "Kindness Unveiled: A Journey to a Happier Life" by why i live a happy life
But what if you give respect to others and they doesnt give respect back? im a simply cleanman on my work. If i greet other people on my work they does'nt greet me back. The office workers doesnt like me because im a cleanman (i think thats te reasson they dont greet me back). After months at that office i stopped greeting those peoples is that wrong of me or not?
I think you should still greet ppl but only those who “meet your eyes “. The truth is that people have changed, people are more selfish, self centered and dismissive. Don’t change, just adjust. If a person meets your eyes, you then decide if THEY are worth your greeting. If they do not even visibly acknowledge you, then don’t acknowledge them.
Each of us has the power to make the other feel like a millionaire, yet it is rarely used. If an outside force came to destroy us, would we still see eachother so differently. We are all (now) from the same planet made of the same stuff. Dust amidst billions of galaxies...
For sure he mumbles but I understood him. What's funny is that the closed captioning on the video says, "what is first name of the woman who claims in school."
Beautiful! (One thing though…. how about ,” what is the last name of the person that cleans the building ?”…and say Mr or Ms until you know it’s OK with them to call them by their first name.)🤗
Yes education didn't mean having degrees having placed in big companies serving at big position I guess it means that Mr professor said in vedio that respect is very first to come an educated person character fiet introduce by him self by respecting the other one not mean that the other one is what but means that respecting is first greatness... Of a qualified human being..
This is true and I am sending these speeches to someone who treats me so badly and that person is Rylee idk her last name but she has a sister named liv I think
I dont get it. Test. Question 4: "What is the first name of woman who cleans this school?". Nobody in class doesn't know. "Excuse me Teacher, I think this question is weird". "Ok. I will say something. Respect other ppl". What all of this mean?
How can the camera quality and angles be so fine, but the method of translating the language so horrible? Really takes away from the point trying to be made
the way you respect people most don’t even look at is how you threaten anybody in your life - this defines who is a good person and who has a bad attitude 😢
This is something we can all agree on. Respect and trust is everything.
If nothing else, the gift of giving your attention and kindness is repaid immediately. Need a smile, give a smile. Really good message.
I was teaching computer science in a junior college in Maryland. Her name was Sharon. I'm now 80 years old. I still remember her presence.
This shows us that something that's so little has an even deeper meaning to it, even how small it is. It gives us a lesson. It gives us a meaning. It gives us a reminder on what we should be.
Otis 😘

Being human earns you respect but i get what you're saying.
I respect everyone but i worship no one.
That applies even/especially to women and teachers; by "respect" they just mean "don't offend or annoy me in the slightest"
True
Never confusing if you deal with people on individual level
Bro your professor is awesome! Please let him know how much we appreciate all these life lessons and THANK YOU even more for sharing him with us. Invaluable! Thank you again!
The wisdom is sound but the students in that class are actors
DECENCY & RESPECT is something this Americus & every state, city & town is much in need of ..

You don't get tired as f---. I'm sure you did get tired though.
Respect is like success it build on a foundation of lies and manipulation. Hard work pays off keep working wagies oh here a bone called respect

👏
there are many reasons why it is important to respect people diferences
💯True. So sad that respect is non-existent in today's society. We are the cause of our fall.
Well who did you vote for?
Thank you so much for your work, Meir. Many of your clips made my day. Great job!
i would love this professor as a collage teacher very clever tips to be a good human
... heaven through you...decision...eyes...Ty JESUS
So powerful and so true! Another amazing video Meir! Keep them coming!
The only way of gaining the respect you want is by earning it, not demanding it.
Tell that to the liberals.
Had to rewatch several times but I think O'Brien said "cleans the school" - as in, the janitor.
If teachers were more like this I would enjoy school a little bit more I didn't have some teachers like this but not exactly like this
Amazing as always Meir!
Love for the team 💗
I like this teacher. The videos have a 90s feel to it, and being in 2018 it eases a lot of depression!
What's professor name's???
I can't even imagine how you feel now in 2022. These are purely ugly times.
I know these are actors but I really wish the teacher could be my teacher
Mr. O Brien is the student
Ari Scott-Cowling I'm pretty sure he's the teacher
0:33
Ari Scott-Cowling Woops my bad!! I meant the teacher not O Brien
Thanks!! :D
Same here

My favorite videos are with the professor

❤ Love it!
Be nice to the people you meet on the way up. You may meet them again on the way down.
