actually La Ronde was founed in 1967 as part of the Expo 67 World Exposition and was operated by the AMARC (a sort of municipal corporation responsible of tourism and recreation in the Montréal area) up until 2000. The park was sold to Six Flags in 2001.
I think we, as Montrealers, regret to have done this. Six Flags just started to remove some historical coasters without replacing them with new others. We received an SLC in 2010 and a Zachspin in 2020. Every person that has gone to LaRonde will say that the old rides are better.
@@leoli462 In the early 2000's, Six Flags started to invest tons of money into all their parks, and buying tons of new parks. In that time, Six Flags gave us Vampire and Goliath which are pretty much the only 2 good coasters left at the park now. They planned to completely change La Ronde into an amazing theme park, they planned to add more terrain behind Le Monstre, etc. The problem is, they invested so much money into all their parks during that time, that they almost went bankrupt, and all of their plans for their parks were cancelled. This happened in the late 2000's. Ever since that time, Six Flags is VERY cheap in their investments. Since that time, we only got 2 coasters, all of which are relocated (SLC from AstroWorld in 2010, and ZacSpin from Magic Mountain this year). The problem isn't that we sold La Ronde. The problem is that we sold it to Six Flags, they did crazy shit and almost went bankrupt and are now playing it cheap. If we sold the park to Cedar Fair instead (or even Parc Astérix, which looked forward buying La Ronde in the early 2000's), it would have probably been a way less neglected park. Rant over.
@@Max-ro7sz just reading it makes me sad about the state of the park. I hadn't heard about LaRonde for a long time and was wondering what was new. Quite a bit of stuff is gone and pretty much nothing has been added since the last time I went. Cobra was one of my favorite coaster when I was young, I'd boost my seat a bit so that I could barely touch the floor, sad that it has been gone for 5 years. I was hoping to see new cool rides and go back to enjoy those and the old classics, but it's just so disappointing.
+Yellott9 I only count them if they're different like Lighting Racer or the defunct Gwazi, they're distinctly different rides, I'd consider the same for these as one side is LONGER than the other (that's honestly a pretty big difference), but rides like Racer or the defunct Thunder Road I count as one. So for me it all depends on the ride itself.
It didn't actually jump off the track as that is impossible due to stopper wheels underneath the track, but with wooden roller coasters, when they are going very fast and there is a hill, the do raise up into the air a bit. When this happens, you often get the experience called 'airtime'. This is when you lift out of your seat and float in mid air between the seat and the lap bar for a few seconds until you get forced hard back into your seat when the coasters travels back down the hill. Its fun!
Have you ever been in theme parks in the US? Or in the other theme park in Canada that's on the same scale (and even bigger) as La Ronde (Canada's Wonderland)? Try to compare La Ronde with these... If you've only experienced La Ronde you don't know how bad of an amusement park it actually is...
Going here for my birthday in 5 days, super excited as wooden rollercoasters are my favourite, 14th birthday going to be crazy fun for me, 2h drive there thought
1:43 It's very fun when you jump from the car because of a bumpy track, but it seems less fun to me when this is the car itself which jumps from the track! OMG, that should hurt...
Knotts just sucks. I remember when Ghost Rider first opened, it was such a great ride, it's painful (literally and figuratively) to watch the park let the ride decline. Protip though: the silver train is about 5x smoother than the gold train...
Worst coaster I have ever been on. It was so rough. I wanted to like it, but just couldn't. I had pain in several parts of my body after riding it. The coaster Goliath is so much better at La Ronde!
Dude, it is painful, you have a "mild concussion" upon exiting. You will be asking your girlfriend for some aspirin because your brain will have been jarred so much.
I think this is one of the craziest wooden coasters I've ever been on! It's pretty rough, but I still loved it!
samee
0:24 Ah yes, the famous gum-covered planks of wood!!! 😂
The best thing about this ride is that it sounds like a monster :P
:> :P
The air time in that part of the track is just legendary. Your ass remembers it for a while lol
1:43... best part of both tracks!
Bdan W it’s only on track 1

@@leoli462 This is what my dad tells me every time we go there
I did this ride a few time- I really enjoyed it. This is one of my fav ride!
Holy crap this looks like fun. It's probably the element of competition with the other train
I’m happy that I got the back seat when I did this ride. If you ever go on the monster, the back is always the best experience
I like the feeling of going "into the belly of the beast" when the tracks dips into the wooden superstructure.
This hurts your back so much but it's a very good ride! :)
I don't think so. Yes, it is a Six Flags park. But it was made for the Expo 67 world fair and it was later on sold to Six Flags.
They could still duel them. They just have to release the train on the shorter track a few seconds later.
it looked like the car jumped the track a bit. did that actually happen, did it actually jump off the rails?
ImitationJesus no
Omg my parents brought me on that today….oof
I almost fainted
was the first drop scary?
Terrifying
Hi I've been wondering ever since I started watching ur videos, how can you not scream during the rides?!
I never scream on roller coasters
I never been to track 1! I have the season pass but i always been to track 2! Thanks for the video :)
Nerd question: do you guys consider racing coasters to be two coasters? I personally only think of them as one.
They actually weren’t meant to be a racing coaster, they were built independently.

It's a very very fun coaster, actually. I go to La Ronde every year. It's just very loud.
I went on this the other day it’s really fun
the line is soooo long tho

JammyBand I just call it zero gravity moment but okay
yes they do. but it costs a lot. if you go early it wouldn't really hurt to wait inline.
Do you like the track1 or track2 better?
so? just because we live in a "not-so-popular" city, deasnt mean our attraction parks sucks ya know?
KoirkyLikePenguins ye ikr
U live in montreal?
yes

Does this park have FlashPass?
Mike DiLoreto don’t they all?
Mike DiLoreto guessing you don't live in Canada if you don't know this question, I live legit 2 minutes away😂😂
Yup
i’ve done it a few weeks ago. if you like bumpy rides and speed, this one is for you. btw review by someone from montreal
I closed my eyes the whole time bc i didn't wanted to panic when i see stressing moments and then i watch a video for see what i did 😂💀
who was the manufacturer?
My god, this is gigantic.
lol 8 ans
Is La Ronde a six flags park or a cedar fair park??
rednan132 six flags
Is this coaster painful like ghost rider?
David Liu no it’s just really bumpy and on some of the drops you can’t lift your neck up
Thank you!
Going here for my birthday in 5 days, super excited as wooden rollercoasters are my favourite, 14th birthday going to be crazy fun for me, 2h drive there thought
It's not really scary but it's really amazing
Ngl the bottom of the first drop looks like it has rmc topper tracks
The double down looks insane.
I already sit in this monster ride
This ride is very similar to American Eagle
i love this coaster its great fun!
Every time I went on I was just hoping the wood was still solid lmao
Why does the track look like RMC topper track in some places?
Insane Coasters that’s because it is. They put that in to reduce stress on the track.
Monstre may be higher above the ground, but the American Eagle has a much larger first drop.
No one cares
Should this ride get RMCd ?
MaxPap hell ya
No
It only took 7 months for you to smell it. Besides, we have Gwazi, another dueling wooden coaster.
lol 8 ans
I have been on this and trust me, I was frozen. I was so scared i couldn't even scream. Everyone thought I was braze but I was just mortified
I can smell the jealousy all the way up to Montreal lol
This coaster needs to be repolished otherwise its tons of fun
This was an awesome ride but I was in line for about 45 minutes
Last time I rode it, it was a 5 minute wait 😜
Probably you were on a not so busy day or you went in the morning or at night.
@@WheresPoochieWHAT!??!? I HAD TO WAIT AN HOUR AN A HALF JUST TO GET ON THE THING
my favourite ever.
The first time I did it I was crying 😭😂😂😂😂😂😂 but I wAnt to do it again but it is closed now I wanna cry again!
I went on this! Sooo fun!!
I tried it for the first time today my heart was gone the entier time
it's a six flags park.
1:43 It's very fun when you jump from the car because of a bumpy track, but it seems less fun to me when this is the car itself which jumps from the track! OMG, that should hurt...
I think this one is way better than the goliath
Knotts just sucks. I remember when Ghost Rider first opened, it was such a great ride, it's painful (literally and figuratively) to watch the park let the ride decline. Protip though: the silver train is about 5x smoother than the gold train...
thatguyonstage gci came and retracked it
Reminds me alot of The Predator at Darien Lake.
I hate the fact that they only run one train on each track, but the ride has three block sections.
man this is just like the renegade at valley-fair
My body hurts just from watching the video.
I pulled a muscle while on the ride
A Togo lift hill I can see
Why does this have RMC Topper Track on it, the ride doesn’t deserve it
RMC has no idea this ride even exists... we are still waiting for a conversion.
this ride hurt so fucking bad
I know right!
apparently this goes 96 mph....
96 kph (59 mph)
This one is better than the other one.
I don't like that wood cuz I saw it move
I like this ride, abd it looks like Wild Cat from Hershey Park!
Worst coaster I have ever been on. It was so rough. I wanted to like it, but just couldn't. I had pain in several parts of my body after riding it. The coaster Goliath is so much better at La Ronde!
Le is french I think...Meaning "THE" . So its probably called THE MONSTER"
True
I do the monstre today
amen
Its fun
Someone call Rmc
but that doesnt happen
Nice
very rough...bring a neck brace
Its so fun
I so it in real life and this is not too scary for me x)
1:43 sa déraille
No its just the camera i think
Canada is one of the wealthiest countrys in the fake world.
But no,Canda's awesome.
all that gum
But it seems to happen. ;)
That is way too much gum...

Yes

It's rough, but it doesn't hurt. Everyone has a pain level they can endure right ?
euh... its the more easy thing in the world, i thing
ohh thats wut u mean, i c ic

Sinon, t’as raison.
God that looks painful
Even if it’s painful, I had soo much fun on it
Looks bad doesn’t want to make it up the hill
Lol 0:24 gum mosaic
I think their biters :/
''It's the largest wooden coaster in Canada''
Thats not saying much, considering Canda isn't even a real place.Narnia is more real.
Hieagandaus Canada is real.
Apparently the monster is the worlds largest two track wooden roller coaster
I hate u
Horrible wooden coaster
Best wooden coaster
