Metallurgical note: copper is an excellent conductor, but that goes both ways. The ice will chill the copper much more easily than glass. Conversely, the heat from your hands will warm the copper up much more easily than glass. That conduction is what's causing the condensation on the exterior. If you're trying to keep a drink colder for longer, use a heavy glass, and chill it before adding your cocktail.
The guy that owned the bar where the Moscow Mule was invented owned a stake in a metalworking company, and legend says that they used the copper from a cancelled order to make the mugs for what had become the bar's signature drink.

One of my favourite cocktails. Ginger and anything is usually good, but being a bourbon guy I can't get enough of these.

Just tried it with Even Williams bonded . You can use more Bourbon and still have a nice flavor that's not over powered.

Copper is conductor, so it would not keep it cold longer. It does give an icy sensation which is nice. Nevertheless, love me some Kentucky Mule!

Normally when I make this with Rum or Bourbon I'll add the ice and fresh lime into the mixer with the liquor and shake it up then pour it into the mug and top with ginger beer. Helps avoid that mistake of shaking it with the ginger beer in there I did that once myself. :) Thankfully I kept the lid on tight until it could settle.

I like adding mint to mine. I’ll have to try that Keylime juice. I normally just squeeze half a lime.

you two are amazing. I love everyone of your videos and I wish you would do more but that is me being greedy. I can only imagine how much work it is to do each video.
I found the Keylime Juice on Amazon as well as the copper cups. I normally drink my rum and bourbon neat but that does look like a great and refreshing drink so I will make some this summer.
    Cheers!

I love a dark and stormy so i am sure I will like this one even more. I started my voyage sipping aged rums but after I found your TH-cam Channel I started to explore bourbons and WOW what a difference they are from rums. Love both of them but if I am honest I probably am leaning more toward bourbons now more than rums.

    Pink Bourbon Aide.
Equal parts strong bourbon. Rye or 100 proof should work.
    Pink lemonade
    Cranberry juice
+/-. 1/4 to 1/2 part simple syrup to taste
    Zest of half lime
    Squeeze of lime
    Adjust to your taste.

bulleit bourbon and ginger ale. you cant taste the alcohol or get any burn, they go down sooooooo well. and its also not very expensive. wild turkey and coke is nice
and now this may sound weird but chasing jack daniels with dr mcgillicuddy peach schnapps is actually really good though when i did it the shot was more like 3 or 4 in one big drink :P

      @bmxriderforlife1234 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

btw have you guys had goslings rum? if so what are your opinions, also you guys again are so lucky youre in the states, down there goslings sells their rum in a version bottled at the original proofing instead of 40% 80 proof we get here. we also cant buy ever clear or things like that here without a permit for scientific reasons or a few other things. strongest stuff weve got is 151 bicardi and thats not eve stocked on the shelves apparently you have to request it and theyll go get you it from the back.

yeah i guess the government decided they didnt want people getting drunk off neutral grain spirit....that shits pretty nasty worse then moonshine if you ask me.

oh also incase you remember my last comment you replied to......VICTORY! lol they added wild turkey 101 to the liquor stores. or at least the website. deffs got a new go to cheap whiskey, its the same price as regular old JD here and as much as i like some sour mash id rather buy george dickel for 30$ vs jack for 37$.

Keylime juice?!?! That's a new one. (Obviously not since the video is 4 years old) Key lime is completely different than lime. But I like it, so maybe my next Mule will be a key lime one.

You know what would make it even more of a *Kentucky* Mule? Use Ale-8 instead of ginger beer.

    • @ItsBourbonNight

Orie Stapleton I love Ale-8 but Sara doesn't. I think it would probably taste pretty good but we both do love ginger beer.

Ginger beer and goslings especially. Make my Moscow mules taste like “dirt”. I recommend Fresca or 7 up. The lemon lime replace the need for an lime.

Using wild turkey was your first mistake, its trash bourbon, if dont wanna spend too much get some buffalo trace, four roses, or old Forester in the 20$ range. Also never use a copper lined cup, use a steel lined, copper does not do well with anything acidic and will leach into your drink. And that gosling ginger beer is ridiculously high in sugar, over 40 grams per can, I'd go with either fever tree (19 grams) or spectacular ginger beer brands.
