Here's one that drives me nuts. Why in "Cabin in the Woods" does the super secret government monster zoo have an option on the holding cells that allows all the creatures to be let out at the same time? Seems to be something that wouldn't even be an option.
It was the idea of that one government guy whom had a husband's bulge for mermaids, he was planning to release all the nightmare creatures and then sneak off and get it on with a mermaid...
“Let’s split up, we can find it!” “Yeah!” “You can go outside, I’ll stay inside and check some things out.” “Okay,” **Five minutes later.** **Both dead.**

One thing that always annoyed me in slasher films, was where the hero would use a weapon of some sort to fight off the villain, then instead of keeping said weapon and just finishing him/her off..they just toss it aside....and thew whole tip toe past the villain when there's enough space to go in another direction move..
Yep this... who chucks the gun on the floor even after knowing there are more zombies/monsters/aliens etc about that will kill you! Just no.. I’m not going without having that gun or weapon, ain’t happening! I would be tooled right up 😂

Lorrona had multiple opportunities to take the kids, but she refused to commit. And why not just make yourself holy, wait it out in a church, but no, continue making stupid decision after stupid decision.
In Brightburn's defense, his father doesn't know that his 'son' is bulletproof at that point. We the audience know as we see him toss the lawnmower, shove his hand in the blade of the lawnmower, and killing a few other people. His father on the other hand hadn't witnessed these events so he would have no way of knowing he is bulletproof, so at the time his idea to end his son before he got stronger could be considered a good idea.
Well, he did see the kid chew a fork into an unrecognizable tangle of steel, though in context I suppose that doesn't necessarily mean his dad would immediately make the logic leap to bulletproof. On the other hand, he was still kinda dumb to not at least consider the possibility and have a Plan B ready.
If shooting his head with a gun doesn't work, then probably nothing in range of his capacity would work. So that was definitely not that of a stupid move.

How about 'Poltergeist'? They get the little girl back from the other side and instead of running for the hills they decided to stay in the house while in the process of moving out. Put your family in a hotel and pay movers to get your house packed up for you, and keep your kids away from the spooky closet at all costs!

well, to be honest, nearly everything in prometheus is a giant series of bad/horrible/dumb decisions, Damon Lindelof (the writer who took over the project and made the pile that it is) is utter trash.

One of the worst movies I saw was Sanctum. A group of morons who called themselves "explorers" take a dive into the giant cave. Turns out they didn't check the weather report before the adventure. I mean how come professional explorers wouldn't know it's going to be raining in the next few hours. Then you know what happens next. 🤦
Always going UPSTAIRS. It never fails, when being chased, the victim will run up the stairs and trap themselves on the roof or in a bedroom. There they will wait hiding and covering their mouth to stifle the sobs for certain death. 🎃🐈
This one always kills me dead. The Texas Chainsaw Massacre does it- although it is somewhat forgivable as she was in shock- and at the end the movie hits peak stupidity when the truck driver, upon being attacked by Leatherface, leaves the truck! DRIVE AWAY YOU MORON!
The only instance I forgive of this is Scream. Because she describes that exact horror trope and what they should be doing instead - Only to get forced into enacting that same horror trope

To be fair, that movie was a parody of Night of the Living Dead and any dumb decisions made should be taken with a grain of salt. Still a great movie though.
Resident Evil: Apocalypse is still my favorite RE movie. Alien Covenant was weak but at least in introduced neomorphs. I'd love to see them again. Dawn of the Dead was a brilliant remake though.
irina1296 the characters did make a boneheaded decision for the escape plan in dawn of the dead. I would’ve just taken the vehicles and driven out of the city instead of going to an island and hoping that there were no zombies there
How about in Stephen King's movie Christine when that one guy gets inside of a car that was burnt up and clearly possessed because it literally pulled up with no driver in it..
The part that got me mad is when the guy just watched the car squeeze into the small space he was in, instead of just running up on the car and fleeing.

Honestly, tracking off the signal is the least bad decision they made. Sure, it's a risk that doesn't need to be taken. But it was supposed to be a very low risk. "Okay, this planet seems better, let's check". That's an okay decision, although finishing your trip was a safer decisions. However, going on that planet completely unprotected... Damn THAT was stupid.
I've seen a million horror movies and the hands down dumbest decision I've ever seen was Helen(Sarah Michele Geller) stopping to look back after evading the killer for NO REASON in I Know What You Did Last Summer when she was literally steps away from safety.....I still till this day say to myself "keep running" Everytime I watch it

To be fair in any of the alien franchise if you work for the company you have to check out any unknown signal because if you don't your contract is null and void if they find out about it so not really a stupid decision. It is a stupid decision to not wear your helmet on a planet you know nothing about.
I thought about something. In early episodes of "Namekian Saga" of "Dragon Ball Z", Bulma told Krillin and Gohan to remain in the ship on Namek until she checks the atmosphere or until she gets the space suits ready. However, she found them on the surface as soon as she looked out the spaceship. She got upset with them. I didn't find fault with her because they could have easily breathed in toxic gases.
"Jason X": bringing Jason into the ship because of thinking they might be able to profit from him. Then de-freeze him, stack him with healing nanobots, and then give him his machete back.

I don't remember if you guys already covered this, but "Running off from the group because of petty squabbles/panic/sudden urge to poop or vomit." I know it technically falls under the Scooby Effect, but it is just a little different since it's more spur of the moment decision rather than a conscious one. Any number of horror films do this, including DotD 2004, Scream 3, AvP:R, etc.
For me, the most ridiculously stupid decision in a horror film is found in the British horror movie 'Creep'. In one particular scene, the protagonist attacks the killer with her shoe, knocking the killer unconscious. The killers weapon is lying right next to them as well, but what does the protagonist do? Leaves. It was a perfect opportunity to finish the killer off, saving herself and the others trapped with her, yet she just runs off.
i think one of the most stupid decisions is asking "hello?" and expecting the antagonist to answer "yeah, hey bro. don't worry im just using your kitchen. definitely not gonna murder you later ya'know?"
How did Amanda Young in Saw 3 not make this list? The reason I ask is her repeated consideration of murdering John Kramer's doctor, while John has a critical game going on in which the doctor's purpose is not only to (potentially) make sure John stays alive but also to make sure the main character of the movie going through this trap doesn't shoot both John and Amanda.
I think some of these are things I expect people to do. Alien: Covenant with investigating a signal isn't the same as just a spooky noise, since it implies something of an emergency that they may have thought they could have handled. In Hereditary, he was high when his sister was in a dire situation, so he probably wouldn't have thought straight. Not sure how often people are told of serious emergencies when under the influence. Now, I doubt the father knew his adopted son in Brightburn was invincible, as we saw his ability to be durable and the father probably didn't know, but he did make a decent attempt, compared to the blindly ignorant mom.
In Brightburn they already notice their son never had a single injury or even a scratch since they got him, so he would at least be more mindful on that point there is something not normal on him his wife even said that only the metal in spaceship did cut him. In hereditary that son should have insisted not to bring his sister in a teenage party, he knows what shits are going to happen in there and not suitable for kids let alone a mentally ill one.
While that all may be true theres one part of the movie that makes no sense and was only stupid, and that was sending bill murray in full zombie makeup into the dark movie room with two protagonists with a gun, that have no idea its a joke. why didnt anyone go this may be a bad idea, maybe we should take the weapons. even with it not being a horror movie that was a stupid way of making yourself be dead murray.
Scary Movie 1: When the blonde hits the assailant with several toss bottles of beers and then tries to escape through the doggy door in the garage door. She is then subsequently killed by the garage door coming up. That's pretty up there in stupid. It doesn't reach the scale of many of the things on the list, but it's really really stupid.

That is a deep question. Much like a genie in a bottle I think the soul would be free if the doll were destroyed. Whether that is good or bad depends on the spirit. It is possible the spirit was only being bad because it was angry about being trapped and once free it will go towards the light. Then again it could be demonic and once freed could possess a human. My course of action if I ever get a possessed doll is to gift it to the Pope. He'll know what to do.
@@Hanmacx possible as well. Like I said it is a deep and difficult to answer question. But I personally don't think a soul can be bound to anything physical. Contained yes, but not bound. And I also personally don't think souls can ever be destroyed only Sent elsewhere. But there are so many variables and unanswered questions.
When I was a kid, I genuinely pondered this question as I believed in cursed dolls and all sorts of oddball ideas. I reached the conclusion that destroying the doll was probably a very bad idea.
@@Nocturnalux there is no absolute answer. It depends on what is in the doll, how it got there, if there are other ties to this world etc. But I'm mostly with you. If it's evil and it's trapped in a doll with the constraints of a doll. I.e. it can walk but not fly. It can move and cause noises but not possess someone else.....leave it alone. Let it stay in the doll.

One of the worst movies I saw was Sanctum. A group of morons who called themselves "explorers" take a dive into the giant cave. Turns out they didn't check the weather report before the adventure. I mean how come professional explorers wouldn't know it's going to be raining in the next few hours.

Resident Evil: Apocalypse is still my favorite RE movie. Alien Covenant was weak but at least in introduced neomorphs. I'd love to see them again. Dawn of the Dead was a brilliant remake though.

To be fair in any of the alien franchise if you work for the company you have to check out any unknown signal because if you don't your contract is null and void if they find out about it so not really a stupid decision. It is a stupid decision to not wear your helmet on a planet you know nothing about.
I thought about something. In early episodes of "Namekian Saga" of "Dragon Ball Z", Bulma told Krillin and Gohan to remain in the ship on Namek until she checks the atmosphere or until she gets the space suits ready. However, she found them on the surface as soon as she looked out the spaceship. She got upset with them. I didn't find fault with her because they could have easily breathed in toxic gases.
"Jason X": bringing Jason into the ship because of thinking they might be able to profit from him. Then de-freeze him, stack him with healing nanobots, and then give him his machete back.

I know it technically falls under the Scooby Effect, but it is just a little different since it's more spur of the moment decision rather than a conscious one. Any number of horror films do this, including DotD 2004, Scream 3, AvP:R, etc.

For me, the most ridiculously stupid decision in a horror film is found in the British horror movie 'Creep'. In one particular scene, the protagonist attacks the killer with her shoe, knocking the killer unconscious. The killers weapon is lying right next to them as well, but what does the protagonist do? Leaves. It was a perfect opportunity to finish the killer off, saving herself and the others trapped with her, yet she just runs off.

The reason I ask is her repeated consideration of murdering John Kramer's doctor, while John has a critical game going on in which the doctor's purpose is not only to (potentially) make sure John stays alive but also to make sure the main character of the movie going through this trap doesn't shoot both John and Amanda.

I think some of these are things I expect people to do. Alien: Covenant with investigating a signal isn't the same as just a spooky noise, since it implies something of an emergency that they may have thought they could have handled. In Hereditary, he was high when his sister was in a dire situation, so he probably wouldn't have thought straight. Not sure how often people are told of serious emergencies when under the influence. Now, I doubt the father knew his adopted son in Brightburn was invincible, as we saw his ability to be durable and the father probably didn't know, but he did make a decent attempt, compared to the blindly ignorant mom.
In Brightburn they already notice their son never had a single injury or even a scratch since they got him, so he would at least be more mindful on that point there is something not normal on him his wife even said that only the metal in spaceship did cut him.
In hereditary that son should have insisted not to bring his sister in a teenage party, he knows what shits are going to happen in there and not suitable for kids let alone a mentally ill one.
The point of zombie land was to be down right hilarious 😂 fun and full of dumb funny stuff so for real you can't say that if I was intended haha

That is a deep question.
Much like a genie in a bottle I think the soul would be free if the doll were destroyed. Whether that is good or bad depends on the spirit. It is possible the spirit was only being bad because it was angry about being trapped and once free it will go towards the light. Then again it could be demonic and once freed could possess a human. My course of action if I ever get a possessed doll is to gift it to the Pope. He'll know what to do.

@@Hanmacx possible as well. Like I said it is a deep and difficult to answer question. But I personally don't think a soul can be bound to anything physical. Contained yes, but not bound. And I also personally don't think souls can ever be destroyed only Sent elsewhere. But there are so many variables and unanswered questions.
When I was a kid, I genuinely pondered this question as I believed in cursed dolls and all sorts of oddball ideas. I reached the conclusion that destroying the doll was probably a very bad idea.
@@Nocturnalux there is no absolute answer. It depends on what is in the doll, how it got there, if there are other ties to this world etc.
But I'm mostly with you. If it's evil and it's trapped in a doll with the constraints of a doll. I.e. it can walk but not fly. It can move and cause noises but not possess someone else.....leave it alone. Let it stay in the doll.
