I shoot to the ground and i get free without harming the Desmo 🤔 But maybe it can be hit during the process. It's a passive tame but it's also aggressive, like the ferox and the tuso. Never tested it

Quick note: these tuso spawns are bugged I don’t think they’re supposed to spawn here, they don’t function whatsoever because of the depth. They’re above the abyss’ ceiling which is where they’re supposed to spawn afaik.
The jellyfish is the ultimate reason why Basilosaurus is a must tame dino for me. Although it's a bit slower than other tames but as long as I don't misclick E , I should be survive no matter how. They are immune to dismount, super tanky, have decent damage, Insulation buff, can afk produce oil like dung beetles, kinda OP tbh.
Chandra the Fjordhawk was a brilliant color mutation not only to call back on the argy but because of how the hawks like to fly off randomly. With those bright colors it's super easy to see her from far away. :)

Your character has to be standing on land to use it. Edit: it does work through vacuum compartments. So maybe a tuso trap build with the compartments that allows you to access a tentacle sticking through the wall into a dry compartment would work

Found this on dododex... "You cannot use the Sanguine Elixir on them UNLESS you're taming the beached ones on Crystal Isles. Place a platform beside them, get on it, and it'll be usable." added July 31st. Maybe this helps for future taming? xD
I legit only use basilo in the water as my main mount on fjordur, because it's immune to stuff. I keep a shadowmane or two as escort, that's it. You can kill whatever you need to with a good basilo and some additional dinos for extra damage.
you can only use the elixir if you stand on the ground next to the animal. dont work when flying or in water or if you get stuck on top of the animal like *floating* you cant use the elixir either

Good way to use it is when taming megachelons, as when they get close to the surface you can just be standing on their back and drip the elixir onto them. They love that shit.
Every tuso ive tamed on fjordur i used a shadowmane for, tamed in the same spot you did, shadowmanes didnt affect taming and neither did hitting the squid to get it to agro lol
@Syntac I found out why you couldn't give the Tuso the Elixir! It's because you were swimming. It seems the game doesn't allow you to give the elixir as long as you are swimming. But with a little trickery you can give it to your Tuso Babies. If you can get the Babies as far to the surface as possible so you can reach them while standing on solid ground you can give them the elixir. That seems to involve all aquatic creatures.
The Sanguine Elixir doesn't work underwater at all. Your character is technically eating it and you can't eat food while underwater. That's why it wasn't working.
I once tamed a mosa that was at the surface long long ago. I was just flying past on my argy when suddenly I see a big orange mosa by red ob (the island map) right on the shore. Stood on the shore and knocked it out and was able to tame it without ever touching the water
Can't use Elixir underwater, but if the creature is close to the shore and you're on land next it, it works. Just can't use it when character is underwater.

Whatever the time is that it takes a jelly fish to shock again, the player should have immunity from shocks for that time too. That way multiple jellies can’t stun lock you
Maybe the tuso had spawned near too close to the surface, and was probably trying to find a way to head back into deeper waters. A rare flower should’ve help to make it easy to tame😅
I lost 2 shadowmanes down there the other day while taming a 150 tusos. Died so many times to alpha megas cause jellyfish remove you off your tames. After a while i brought in 7 shadowmanes and killed everything. It took a long time to kill everything around. Still managed to get the tusos.
The ocean on fjordur is so bad… there are creatures everywhere! If just one of them see you, it’s like everything agros! It’s like riding around with a permanent rare flower/amonite debug.
I actually tamed a Tuso 2 days ago and I had the exact same issue where the squid was just chilling and didn't wanted to grab my turtle, it's hillarious how they literally do nothing against you right now. Luckilly the squid eventually snapped and I tamed him.
On Fjordur they spawn, for reasons, in the surface ocean water, which is at no point (where they spawn) deep enough to allow them to have normal behaviour. The only tiny space deep enough has a dunkleo spawn I think. The area to tame tusos "normally" is in the deep ocean, you know, with all the mosas and alpha mosas. Step one to tame it, and step two to get it out. Works better than expected, but you do walk a bit of a tightrope avoiding the ire of the mosa armies.

You can't use the Elixer whilst swimming, use an S+ vacuum chamber to give you something to stand on close to the Tuso / Mosa / whatever.
That or hop on a mount. I've been starving on the ocean floor before, and the only way I was able to eat was on the back of my baryonyx

I believe it has something to do with the fact you can't eat or use certain items underwater.
Vacuum chamber near the tame so you have "solid ground" perhaps

I found that you need to be standing on land to use the elixir. I have used it on sharks.

I'm pretty sure you can't use the sanguine elixir underwater, it might have something to fo with the fact that you can't drink underwater either

for the bat elixir to work place a chair close to the tame and sit in chair so you can consume the elixir that should work

Jellyfish are the main reason I raise my oxygen stat.

I might be wrong but I believe the Tuso is the only passive taming creature that never loses taming effectiveness no matter how many times you hit it.
Taming squids are considered passive tames. Only works on knock out tames
Use a Basilosaurus to deal with jellies since they are IMMUNE to their shock
