Another interesting tidbit about that black camo paint being that they painted their skin almost completely black in a sort of “blackface” fashion because the zanla soldiers would target the white selous scouts and then try and convert any surviving black selous scouts to their cause.
Rhodesian cammo faded quite quickly. To look authentic it should look fairly washed out. Issue shorts were grey/green. However. long cammo trousers used to get snagged a lot on thorns or barbed wire fencing, or wear at the knees, so they began to be cut down to shorts.

When I was in the services we called a water bottle a "Waterbottle". A canteen was where we went to eat! lol
