Hey brent , this is gonna be completely out of subject , but I've watched a video on perimeter defense. And the guy showed an area in the ao that was heavily vegetated and he said that it was not likely that the enemy would approach from there because it would be too loud and we would hear him from far away. So he decided to place an observation post there and 3 riflemen on the defensive perimeter oriented on that area and placed the rest of the squad from which he pulled the 3 guys in reserve. But I thought that if I were the enemy I would probably take that avenue of approach because it offers cover and concealment and approach in a slow manner to avoid making too much noise. So what do you think ? Should he have emplaced more personnel on the defensive perimeter and maybe an M240 oriented on the area ? Or am I overthinking this ? I haven't watched the video yet you linked yet so its hard for me to comment on this TDG. But... as a rule of thumb, place your crew serves to cover your all likely avenues of enemy approach (roads, trails, etc.). Human beings are lazy and generally take the path of least resistance so you want to have your heavy hitters oriented on those as top priority. Sounds like he's still covering that area with his LP/OPs and some rifleman, so he's not ignoring it. If he's going to take a minimal approach to covering that area, there should just be a plan in place for forces to occupy positions there in the event that its discovered that the enemy is moving from that direction. As well as secondary positions for crew serves to displace from their current positions to occupy those secondary positions on that side.
Anytime you feel sad, just remember there was a time not that long ago when a few good men with FAL's and Short Shorts were making the world a better place.

There's something about a modern day warrior wearing updated Rhodesian cammies, and wielding an FN scar... so majestic. Like a Marine doing a voice over about new Rhodesian cammies and FN scar rifles. Beautiful.
I remember as a kid, growing up in the 80's, Soldier Fortune, magazine, had a Rhodesian, soldier, with this camo, I think he was coming out of a river, with a rifle. It was bad ass, all my teenage friends, wanted to sign up and we did, joining the U.S. Military, under the Delayed Entry Program.
I could be mistaken but I was under the impression shoulder pads were a nuissance during real use, this way you get some protection when crawling but no binding of arm movement.
Shorts in the bush ??? Hilarious, sorry guys but that was a real scream there... Just 2 things about the pants, velcro sure makes noise out there, i wish they kept the ties at the bottom of the pant cuffs for over the boot wear, it really helps to the keep them creepy crawlies out such as ticks & other nasty buggers,..But all in all great improved repro Again really great to see you & Bruce partnering up to make great informative vids...Keep up your great work there...Let's hear it for you Texas guys !!!

I got a size small it is for sure a slimier cut, being a small asian dude thats an 03 I would recommend maybe getting a size up form what you would normally wear, I'm taking about comfort wise, almost regretted getting a pair of how much other people were to talk this uniform down complaining about the pockets, they also compared it to Crye Precision's combat uniform line which is like talking about apples to oranges, I do not know any other company that makes a combat uniform in the Rhodesian pattern there are individuals and other companies that make a uniform but probably not as good as Fire Force Ventures, a definite look though from them, if you are all curious about this uniform give a try you wont be disappointed for the most part.
I found a (nearly) complete Rhodesian camouflage outfit in a thrift shop in New Zealand in the eighties, I sold it to a militaria shop in Auckland for what I thought was a pretty good price back then. "WOW! Where'd you get the Rhodey camo, mate?" The guy said when I showed it to him. Think I got, like, 30 bucks.

So many modern companies are bringing M81 kit back and its been great updating the new with the old. All my kit is M81 and regardless of where I will live, I will not change. Did deployments all over for, 15 years and looks great. Infact, homeless people that wear M81 take me by surprise and adds to the crediability of M81. You guys stated... IYO, best overall camo. Where would you put M81, in a close second or third?

I know that it has a lot of history behind it, but I've never found the pattern that effective just looking at it; those ACUs over-dyed in apple green that Bruce showcased last time are frickin' AWESOME in comparison!
How's the quality compared to Tru spec? I'm a big fan of Tru spec! Looks very Blackhawk pattern. I've used some of fireforce's other gear and have no complaints.
I check the fireforce website. most of the items size are out of stock. Do you know whether they are making some more of the Rhodesian Brushstroke Standard BDU?
I don't know where the combat uniforms are made. I know Jeff who made the BDUs and I can tell you with 100% they are NOT made in China. Jeff asked me in the past not to reveal his source to keep his competition from figuring out where he gets his uniforms made. Jeff didn't make the combat uniforms so I don't know where those come from. I doubt China though, the FFV guys are staunch anti-communists.
Brent , you are a big dude . So am I . When I check out FireForce Ventures I noticed that the only Rhod pattern t-shirts sizes they offer are Lg ( max) I think you & I would wear a 3XL or even 4XL . Where can you get the BIG cut ones ?

This is the pattern for the military. Adjust it for NIR camouflaging, combine the BDU and ACU gen II... And you've got one helluva outfit.

Brazilian Camo is very similar, but not perfectly similiar.
More similar to the Portuguese pattern than the Rhodesian

I like how the "elbow pad insert pouch" is on the lower forearm.

"Long time listener... first time caller"... Great Video!! I mostly enjoy all the videos with M81 either in a test or at 1 Shep. So many modern companies are bringing M81 kit back and its been great updating the new with the old. All my kit is M81 and regardless of where I will live, I will not change. Did deployments all over for, 15 years and looks great. Infact, homeless people that wear M81 take me by surprise and adds to the crediability of M81.
You guys stated... IYO, best overall camo. Where would you put M81, in a close second or third?

Odd that they included elbow pad cutouts on the shirt, but didn't leave knee pad slots on the pants. I'd personally have swapped those around.
I hear that first camouflage pattern will soon be the new Venezuelan BDU, soon.
I know that it has a lot of history behind it, but I've never found the pattern that effective just looking at it; those ACUs over-dyed in apple green that Bruce showcased last time are frickin' AWESOME in comparison!

How's the quality compared to Tru spec? I'm a big fan of Tru spec! Looks very Blackhawk pattern. I've used some of fireforce's other gear and have no complaints.
I would say the quality of construction is very similar to tru-Spec and Propper.

What is the source or origin of FireForce Rhode cam ? Hopefully NOT the PRC . Can you tell us?
I don't know where the combat uniforms are made. I know Jeff who made the BDUs and I can tell you with 100% they are NOT made in China. Jeff asked me in the past not to reveal his source to keep his competition from figuring out where he gets his uniforms made. Jeff didn't make the combat uniforms so I don't know where those come from. I doubt China though, the FFV guys are staunch anti-communists.

Brent , you are a big dude . So am I . When I check out FireForce Ventures I noticed that the only Rhod pattern t-shirts sizes they offer are Lg ( max) I think you & I would wear a 3XL or even 4XL . Where can you get the BIG cut ones ?
