- A run of Ocarina of Time by omgatree that completes the game without pausing a single time.
This is a Low Optimization Tool-Assisted Demonstration [LOTAD], meaning it was created on an emulator using slowdown and savestates in order to pull off tricks that would normally be too difficult for a human, but does not necessarily aim for maximum possible optimization.

My mental notepad has never been so stimulated before
Shout out to the automatic Master Sword equip when you pick it up at the end of the Ganon fight (39:46). This is the second time that this small quality of life feature has made an entire speedrun category possible. Famously, at the end of the any% route, this automatic equip is what gives you the Master Sword that you need to beat Ganon's final phase. Since you don't acquire the Master Sword otherwise, the only reason that Ganon can still be beat when wrong warping from the Deku tree is because the game makes you pick it back up. If you had to just have it, you'd be boned.
However, in this run it is an even spicier coincidence. If Link picked up the Master Sword but had to manually equip it from the pause menu, then 0-pause wouldn't be possible. Fortunately, the game automatically equips it.
What I'm trying to say is that the auto-equip there is the true homie of Oot speedruns.

I was watching this before I went to sleep and stopped halfway through, and then I had a dream that i was watching a 0 pause Zelda run at AGDQ and at one point the runner paused twice and one of the comments of the video was a timestamp of the pause and that he was sad.
Lmao just got awake by the noise of the end of the last Mario odyssey agdq run, then I just watch this run, and I can see I'm not the only one who sleep in front of speedrun

Haha, the unfortunate thing is that back walking is faster in those circumstances.

These videos are amazing to see how far you all have come breaking this game in so many optimal ways. I have to pinch myself as a reminder this game took 100+ hours of my life as a kid and this game is NOT made for speedrunning, but turns out it is the BEST game for speedrunning because of how many different things you can do to manipulate the experience.

What’s the lore to this run?
Link suffered from brain damage and died trying to impress his friend by carrying a large rock above his head. Everything after that was more or less an illusion inside his mind as he slowly died, which was implied when he visited the graveyard. The Gohma and Ganon fights were metaphors for his internal demons he had to slay before he could pass onto heaven, after which an angel of light serenaded him as he ascended into heaven.

Beating Ganon and saving Hyrule without pausing; using only a sword, a shield, an ocarina and your nuts..... sounds about right.

You need epona song to get epona which requires you to use pocket kuko which requires a pause, and you cant guay hover over the epona wall steal loading point.

@@b.clarenc9517 I was referring that there is a guay in Lon lon but you cant use it to hover to the loading zone that gives you epona as far as I know.
Previous record for this was 2 pauses (I think)
Today came up with an idea for 1 pause (Fire temple wrong warp)

Has anyone ever done this RTA? If not, I'm curious which parts exactly are standing in the way (or if just nobody's bothered yet). Obviously that forest escape is ridiculously precise but finding an RTA-viable setup for it doesn't sound totally out of the question, though there might be something that gets in the way.
Grego_the_greatest is the only person to ever do it RTA, which he did last year
Can you get to Desert Colossus and do a guay hover to get Silver Gauntlets, thus allowing you to get bombs with 0 pauses? Not sure how much further you can get but it'd be interesting to know how many items it's possible to get in a Max% 0 pause run.

So I realize it's impossible to get below 0 pauses BUT theoretically with how this game keeps evolving and new stuff is found everyday even 20 years later do you think it would ever be possible to beat the game without pausing and without the adult automatic equip? well, my question is: if what mmoved it from 2 pause to zero pause was itemless escape, couldn't 1 pause have done this route by simply equipping sticks as child, doing the wess, and then following the same roue as this one? You'd think they would've wanted to skip the 20 minute guay hover...
Itemless DoT skip wasn't found until somewhat recently either and you can't equip Kokiri Sword if you want Blank B.
Swordless DOT skip was discovered at least 7-8 years ago.
swordless dot skip was done a long time ago. You can find it in old speedruns. It was actually in one of zfg's old videos.
1 pause is this route but with stick wess escape. But that route was figured out like 2-3 weeks before itemless escape and no run was completed using it.

Itemless dot skip, more commonly known as swordless dotskip is as easy as normal dot skip, yes there’s a setup that makes it consistent

It's fairly easy for casual players to get if you're following a tutorial, because of pause buffering. Unbuffered is MUCH harder

Wss breaking the web for getting ISG to do the superslide teleport to get into the out of bounds water to skip the second web?
They had to break the first web early in order to get to the basement and do that trick later. The compass room trick (which requires the sword) wasn't possible a second time because they would have to climb the wall to get up there, which would dim the B button.

realistically no. You would have to be able to know your quadinates a 1 thousandth of a unit which is humanly improbable.

Last I checked, the word completes isn't a name and can't own anything, and isn't a special case like the word "it".
