    I absolutely love Ronan Tyan's beautiful Irish tenor voice. It is so very touching with so much feeling. Very touching story of young Willie McBride especially as we celebrate and salute our veterans this weekend.

    Beautiful song, music, and voice.
    Ronan Tynan sings this beautiful song with feeling and sincerity. You feel as though he is actually sitting there next to young Willie's grave. The orchrastra music gives the feel of the somber but more peaceful times there in the green fields of france, as depectied in the songs lyrics. This is the best version of this song I have ever heard.

    WOW!! Best version ever. Many many thousands of young Irishmen killed in the first day of The Somme, 1st July 1916. No border in those days , Catholics and Protestants died together, for what? Regards from Northern Ireland.

    I think this version is the best I have heard of this song. Ronans' voice and the Orchestra adaptation are outstanding. He is truly a remarkable singer.
    Thank you for posting this video of the concert. I have tried to find this song sung by Ronan on CD but have not been successful.

    @tubefortom Tynan is an M.D. as well as a great tenor.; he is also a lower extremity, double amputee. So he knows a little about suffering. He still practices medicine as well in the little town where he lives in Ireland. He's a very beloved figure in his little town & in Ireland as a whole.

    Very much better than on the Irish Tenors. version; sings with more freedom, slows down, tones his voice down, making the climax so much more effective.

    Did you know that Ronan is a double leg amputee by choice because of a juvenile crippling leg malady and that he is also an MD specializing in sports medicine. With these credentials besides being a fine tenor I think that one could look past the ears.

    Apologies to all.
    As I said, I know nothing of Mr. Tynan. There just seemed to be a great disconnect between the intent of the song and the way it is performed here.
    So, again, I humbly apologize to all whom I may have offended. It all goes back to "If you can't say something nice about someone, then don't say anything at all"
    Lesson learned.

    Instead of the lyrics of the song, this is more interesting. It is a link to an article about Willie McBride, who was he, did he exist or is he just a name in this song? Here is the link: www.independent.ie/life/world-war-1/so-just-who-was-the-young-willie-mcbride-30249256.html

      Ummmm????? Pretty sure Ronan Tynan had parents that cared more about raising a quality man with integrity than a couple of ears that he uses to listen to people in his profession and music......not really sure how you can listen to him sing and think "ears" instead of 'Wow, what a talented, awesome, man!'

  • @tubefortom
    @tubefortom 14 ปีที่แล้ว

    First. Ronan Tynan has an amazing voice.
    Second. He should not sing this song! That's right. Even though he has all the notes and a great orchestra behind him, he does not convince me for one second that he could have ever experienced that which he is singing about. Please note, I know nothing of him personally. It's just that the "performance" while beautifully sung, has not one iota of sincerity of the intent of the lyrics.
    Liam Clancy or Davey Arthur will convince you.
