Me and my girlfriend first traveled to Thailand on Gulf AIR in 1993, cost £485 each, when that was a lot of Money, still got the old paper tickets, great memories, hope you enjoyed your trip as much as we did.
Hi Benjamin while your young you can do that kind of long journey I remember I did that same journey 33 years ago when I went Thailand for the first time and I’ve never looked back Thailand is an Amazing country and the Thai people are fantastic, These days I travel to Thailand 2/3 times a year I won’t go anywhere else good luck to you both
Ah!!! I remember when I was around your age and started traveling to various countries. Your observation of things ( culture, food, architecture, mannerisms..) will be like a sponge the first time- soaking up everything. Enjoy.
I did the same route without the stopover with an old boyfriend on an old 757 😮 nearly 34 years ago. 1 week in Bangkok and 1 week in cha am, loved every minute. Had my 22nd birthday in the land of a thousand smiles.🙏🏻
Did the same route in September last year- for £601 return. On both legs to Bahrain got upgraded. I used to fly Gulf Air quite regularly until very recently (having lived in the Middle East for a decade). It is a little less (ok, a lot less) flash than Emirates- but they have improved quite a lot since they moved to the new airport.
Hope you guys got through ok. Just be careful with the 3 day overstay, as it’s actually a fine. The Thai government have got really strict about overstays which might hinder you re entering within a certain time frame.
Lying by the pool in our hotel in Pattaya, Koh Samet tomorrow for a few days, went to Phu Quoc Vietnam for a fortnight before coming here for a month, we leave for Ho Chi Minh end of January for a week then home to the UK have a great time in Thailand enjoy the sunshine and great people, yes it was de-icer for the wings ,
Really enjoyed this video. Hello from Sheffield. I’ve just got back from Thailand having visited the country twice before. Keep up the great work on the channel. Really looking forward to more content.
Took a flight with Gulf Air to Bangkok at the end of November, always remember you get what you pay for in this life - Gulf Air might be cheap but the onboarding catering was disgusting, I’ve travelled to Thailand on 33 occasions and the onboard service and food has to be the worst I’ve experienced- the seats also were so uncomfortable. Pay extra and travel with emirates or Qatar, I certainly will be at the end of April. Also, don’t under any circumstances- book a sleeping pod in the airport hotel in Bahrain, absolute waste of money- soundproofing was abysmal, no chance of getting any sleep
Nice one mate, I can agree with you about the hotel and the noise! However when it come to booking the flight we saved over £400 compared to any other airline so in this case it was a no brainer! Will definitely look into the other airlines next time round
Love to see the 2 off you at your age going on a new adventure doing it the right way on a budget once you been you get hooked with land off smiles me and wife started going 20 odd years ago been on every bus taxi train ferry every island luxury hotel midrange geust house and still love it so looking forward to your new highs and lows so enjoy stay safe
The fluid sprayed onto the lift surfaces of the aircraft is anti-icing fluid. Ice on the surfaces degrades the lift provided by the wings and has caused disasters in the past.
He's probably spraying de-icer on the wings. It leaves a coating that increases surface tension. Ice on wings = less fuel economy, and less lift. AS we all know lift is very important for planes.
That hotel was actually good value but something I wouldnt waste £30 on....Bahrain has Wifi in the airport free and that transit was pretty short compared to many I've done down the years with different airlines.....flight price decent in current climate....pre Covid Gulf was rarely more than £370 out of London to Bangkok (appreciate you were Manchester)
Can't believe you didn't know why they were spraying the planes wings b4 take off..... and to think it was water hahaha They are de-icing the plane, water is the last thing they are gonna spray on it And £30 less than 3 hours for a room, whats the point? your not gonna sleep in those 3 hours. You had a morning flight and flight time would have been just less than 7 hours, your body clock would be telling you around mid afternoon, you shouldn't be tired. Better to spend the money on lounge access where you can get free food free drink and a free shower rooms
Great value flight price, but I prefer to do it in one direct flight. So I normally end up paying double your fare. However back in May'23 I flew with Qatar 16hrs with 1 hour 50 mins layover in Doha for a mere £630
I got 30 days on arrival but my parter Stefania is Romanian and they only get 15 days! It all comes down to what citizen you are. Thanks for commenting. Pattaya is one on my list 😎
Yes, Pattaya is a pretty wild place and not for those of a sensitive nature or the easily offended, but well worth a visit if you have not been before and it is a very safe place if you are sensible 👍👍🤣🤣
@@JP-oe4ry Exactly ! ONE visit to Pattaya is probably enough for most people ! I think that most young backpackers do actually avoid the place. It's more popular with, let's say, the older farang man, for obvious reasons ! 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Wot as that got to do your not right because he spelt thungland wrong grow up or just jesslo 😂😂 great xx video go and enjoy life because it's 2 short wish you Al the best
Thank you for uploading your travel video to Bangkok. It was very nice to watch and give you a big E for your effort. The reason why the wings were being sprayed was for dicing. It is normal practice by airlines to undertake this because without dicing the air providing lift to the wings will be effected. This can result in the aircraft crashing on take off. When the .aircraft is airborne the engines provide dicing automatically happen. I have only been to Thailand once in 1990. and at that time I travelled with Thai Airlines. Since marrying a Filipina I have flown 25 times to the Philippines mainly with KLM. My thoughts and experience of Thai people is neutral as Thailand is known for LOS the land of smiles. Yes, Thai people smile when you spend money at their bars, restaurants etc but in reality hate you for being a foreigner. If Thai people had their own way no foreigners would be welcomed tin Thailand. The majority of the people and the Thai government rely on tourism as it provides approximately 14% of annual GDP. Always bear in mind Thai people will happily scam you out of your money with a smile on their face.
Good question! We went to visit my grandad who lives in Nong-khai. Right on the Mekong for 4 nights, was beautiful. Since then we moved on to Phuket, Samui, Koh Tao & KPG 👌🏻
Why do you need a visa? Uk travellers allowed to stay 30 days without a visa. Staying 60 days you need a tourist visa, if longer you either have to go to immigration or pop over the border & return.
@Batesy1889 ok thanks for the reply. I've got a youtube channel myself I'm going to share ya page on my community page. See if we can get you a few subs.... Good look with the channel buddy
I fly with Emirates from Birmingham the last time I flew was in November and the return flight was not good so the next time I fly i will give Qatar airline, have a nice time in Thailand
Qatar is by far the best overall for Thailand, I have flown with others but the overall experience with Qatar is well above the others even if it might, but not always, cost more
A nice video, guys ! 👍 Yes, Gulf Air are cheap but the service looks pretty good value for money. Wow ! That stop-over hotel in Bahrain looks well worth £30 ! Hope that you had a good time in Thailand and good luck for the channel ! Well done ! 👍👍

Good and real people at last , great information in regards to the cost of flights.
Good effort and engaging narrative, your just being yourself which is unusual and a welcome change

It’s a de icing solution, they have different colours depending on how cold it is

You should be looking at round about 15 hours overall from Manchester to Bangkok, including the stop in Middle East.
All depends on the airline. This time Gulf air had 4:30 stop which makes it about 18 hours 👍🏻
indeed it depends entirely on what connections are through to Bangkok albeit they go 3 times a day@@Bates_Tube
de icing fluid mainly gylocal
The fluid sprayed onto the lift surfaces of the aircraft is anti-icing fluid. Ice on the surfaces degrades the lift provided by the wings and has caused disasters in the past.
Amazing vid hope she likes thailand
My wife and I travel a lot, we get ultra cheap deals. And go to amazing places.
Really happy for you thanks for sharing
Liked นะ..
what are the comfort of the seats like compared to say emirates and qatar
We think it was de icer they were spraying on wings
Especially in cold
They are spraying de-icer on the wings, because ice and planes don't mix too good.
He's probably spraying de-icer on the wings. It leaves a coating that increases surface tension. Ice on wings = less fuel economy, and less lift. AS we all know lift is very important for planes.

😂😂 no defending that comment about spraying water. Will deffo have to look into lounge access next time if they have showers it’s a no brainer!
I’ve been over 85+ times……cheap tickets as I worked for Etihad 9 years…..Bizz class all the way for peanuts!….i miss it
Safe flight n both of you is a perfect couple ❤
I've heard some nasty things about Gulf Air in the past, but they don't seem bad at all.
I always fly with Thai Airways to Thailand.
Great value flight price, but I prefer to do it in one direct flight. So I normally end up paying double your fare. However back in May'23 I flew with Qatar 16hrs with 1 hour 50 mins layover in Doha for a mere £630
I did a direct Thai airways from Heathrow. without doubt a better option!! But like you said, great value!! Manchester just an hour away from me too.
You both should head to Pattaya, it's one crazy city, visa on arrival. Guys you get 30 days without a visa in Thailand
I got 30 days on arrival but my parter Stefania is Romanian and they only get 15 days! It all comes down to what citizen you are. Thanks for commenting. Pattaya is one on my list 😎

Skyscanner - MyTrip. Was good 👍🏻
Glad you had a good expirence, did you take cash? And did you have any issues carring cash through UK customs? @@Bates_Tube

Did the flight from Bahrain also by Gulf, or another airline?
Yes. For our return flights Manchester > Bahrain > Bangkok > Bahrain > Manchester were all operated by Gulf air 👍🏻
Gulf Air is excellent value for money but the 4 hour wait at Bahrain is a nightmare....Oh well, you cant have everything.
but the first plane wasn't delayed lol@@user-dx1mt8bs5c

Hi did you need to get a visa to travel through bahrain ??
No mate you don’t need one for a connecting flight 👍🏻✈️

Spraying jellybean powder only joking, they are deicing the plane.
Thailand or Thialand?
Thialand in this case 😂🤦♂️
The tourist visa is free for 30 days so I don't understand why you where charged at the airport
