Sounds like something I'd do. Need a simple pine box. Dude wants $100 do make one. Me: drops $3700 on tools because I can do it cheaper.
Oof this hits close to home!! 😂😂
Yep. I’m making a table for close friends. An embarrassingly large part of my “pay” that I quoted is going towards 4 way panel clamps and pipe clamps that I’ve wanted for a while anyway. The chance to try out rough sawn live edge slabs for my first time is worth it to me to work cheap and get some tools out of it. My wife is not a fan of my thought process.
@@MemphisCorollaSLOL😂, you say that,,,as if she's ever a fan!
Hey, I hear ya buddy. That moment doesn't last long, especially when compared to the lifespan of our tools.
Mine always comes around quickly though. We have an understanding (15 year's of marriage so far 🤞).
I don't say Jack-s**t about ANY kitchen gadget she wants, and she doesn't give me too hard of a time when I add tools to my tool-crib.
Having said all that..."we've" got a bedroom that we converted to a kitchen gadget storage/pantry, because those things add up quickly.😅
My wife is an unbelievablely excellent cook. She's never worked as a chef or anything. However, she's known in our community for her cooking. It's a talent and passion that's been passed down from mother to daughter, for IDK how many generations. Her dear departed mother, was an amazing cook as well.
I know what some people would have to say about the way I described our roles, but that's just the way WE live. I couldn't care less how other people live, and the roles they play in their lives. Honestly, I know a lot of awesome women tradesmen, and even her late father was an amazing home-cook in his own right.
I can't believe that I felt the need to add this explanation to my comment.
LOL, sorry 'bout the extremely long-winded comment buddy.
I guess your comment hit close to home.
Have a good one bud!
@@dhebert111 lol 😆 sometimes a tangent just has to happen on a story man. Glad y’all have a system worked out that works for you both. I’ll have to keep that bedroom conversion idea in my back pocket. Thanks
Ya man that's the message he's being sarcastic is cleverly saying the he made $3,500 on selling a bunch of those little boxes. Now go buy the tools and make them BRUh🤔
I wouldn’t pay a dime over $3695.
$3699.99 and its yours😂😂
@@Doug-xt7bnI am bidding 3800
Tired of these kinds of titles? Me too. The title is just to appeal to the algorithm. TH-cam loves dollar signs and controversy. BTW, please consider watching the full video of this project. th-cam.com/video/NocmjPx5feM/w-d-xo.html 👍
Edit: since changing this to a clickbait title, the views and engagement has doubled. Wonder why this crap is so common now? It's what works and what TH-cam encourages.
I assumed the title was a reference to the cost of the material, time, and tools. A couple months ago I spent over $600 on a new router and router table so I could finish the doors on the home theater electronics console I’m making.
The console I’m basing it off of would have cost me $3000 configured how I want it. Parts alone cost me about $1500. Add in the new tools and the time and it doesn’t make sense to somebody on the outside. But I’m learning and have new tools for future projects, even if I don’t necessarily get my money’s worth.
Next (possibly) is a lathe so I can make some gorgeous bowls (I hope😄). Would I pay over $100 to somebody for a wood bowl? Heck no. Would I be ok absorbing that cost for each thing I make for the potential future tool use and the feeling of accomplishment? Hell yeah.
I hate to say it, but it got me to click 😂
I wanted to see what made it $3700! But it is a nice box regardless, love the close up shots of the cuts, always keep my attention lol
Lol. Dang it! Got me there!
Top Bait.... Now Blocked
😂😂 you’re the man Steve! Loved the full video. And yes, I’d pay more than $3800 just because you made it. Do I have the money? No. Do I wish I did? Yes.
Lovley box... exactly the right size to bury my dreams and aspirations in! 5 Stars, would recommend
So... you must not have very big dreams or aspersions
Best reply ever…
@@maddawgnoll his attacks against the reputation or integrity of other people and things are quite large actually! but his ambitions of achieving something are quite smalll
😆😆😆🤣🤣🤣💯
We must have similar dreams.
It took years of teaching myself woodworking before I really learned to appreciate the beauty of a neatly made box.
Lovely work
I think the real question is whether you'd charge $3,700 for that simple pine box.
The real question is why do people read a title on a TH-cam short and react to it.
I react like this mostly so that puts me in the same idiot box as the rest of you!
Doubt I could sell a dozen for $37.
1 = 0.37
@@RicardoRodriguez-om1sgone would equal $3.80
@@a1henstv o.k.
No, but if they are selling I'm going to start making them lol.
if you make it they'll come... eventually
That's the point...time?box?toooools?
True price of anything is what someone is willing to pay.
The good old difference between cost and value.
And what someone is willing to accept for the object.
After seeing it few times, reading comments, letting it play on background I get it now. ADD REVENUE!!! :D

Yes.. If there were $5000 worth of gold in inside.
Ouch, burn
Hahahaha 😐
You couldn't even fit 5k of gold in the lol
You were super helpful to me getting started into woodworking, thank you for your hard work that you put into these videos!
People don’t understand how hard it is to make something this simple, the time it takes to set up all the jigs and how precise you have to be with you measuring it’s crazy
Haha! I recognized your wooden box since I watched the original video shortly after you posted it. You got me, though ... I thought you were going to explain why you gave it such a title, and that it would be some satisfying reveal. Instead it was just a chuckle and a nod. You crafty, crafty sob, LOL! Keep up the good work.
Your video from eons ago with this technique was one of my first WW YT
vids and a wonderful intro into WWMM which I've stayed glued to since.
Steve Ramsey is an OG!
Yeah it’s nice having all the right equipment to make such things.
I’d never throw away my scraps as you can always make something out of them. 👍
With the right tools and know how you can make
a lot of things great and small.
In the UK, they make small boxes like this on the table saw with a dado stack. The problem is dados on a table saw are illegal in the UK, making it a true Banned Saw Box.
Okay that really good. 😄
you're serious?
It's not illegal
@@danieldanielson2650Bandsaw box. It's a joke
I'll say this, it takes a lot of work and talent to make that beautiful little pine box. You do nice work!
Lol hey, gotta get people to click. But for real that’s a cool little box. Make it out of walnut with some gold inlay haha
Or make it out of gold with walnut inlay! 😅
SAW THE LONG VERSION TOO
$3,700 for that little box?!?!?
Man, inflation is getting crazy!
Biden says that’s a good price for that little box 😂😂😂
No I would not.its a beautiful box you made though, damn good craftsmanship
The box is no where near worth $3700, but the value in the knowledge that Steve has to make it is priceless. Great video, even with a clickbait title 😀 thanks for all your knowledge shared over the years
I watched your awesome full length video about 30 times, and then tackled actually building one. It’s a little rough and I need to make a cross cut sled for 45 degree mitres and remember to have a spare bit of wood with the rabbet and dados to mark the location for that final groove for the top on the router table. But it actually worked and I will be making a bunch more!! Thanks Steve!
He inspires me to try and make something new every day
A perfect priceless little build for someone special
For $3700 I would do this by hand with a set of exacto knives, a shite saw, and a pack of sand paper. Then buy some lovely tools for the next one!
"Boxes... boxes... Why does it always have to be boxes? I mean, really, how many things do you really need to contain in a box?..."
🤣 That goes WAY back!
This video came up randomly while scrolling through Shorts. I’ve watched videos on your channel before, and truly wondered how this could be worth $3700 haha. What an ingenious way to use TH-cams stupid algorithms in your favor. Don’t mind the haters who are complaining-this video reminded me of your channel (I haven’t been recommended any of your videos in a while, so it’s easy to forget), and now I have to catch up!
I love this box design.
Not just any pine box, but an original Ramsey limited edition 1/1 set?!
Total steal!
4 sided grain match is an excellent detail. Guessing it's a resaw?
If you watch the full video, it's indeed that - resaw of old pallet wood!!! Steve is the best. I love his YT channel - I've learned SO MUCH
Sure! Sign me up! LoL
Not gonna lie tho pine is the most satisfying wood to work with its like smooth and soft but heavy and have nice finish
I forgot how nice that box turned out. I watched the full video when it was first uploaded. Think I'm going to rewatch.
This is the box that got me onto your channel like 11 years ago. Classic build.
I believe there's a decimal missing between the 3 and the 7. Thank you for everything
Ahhh, a sloppy little box. It’s perfect art.
Excellent
Thank you for sharing...
Great video. Something I want to add to sell them easier is call is something that pertains to a niche. I found selling my boxes that “dice” boxes sell the best
If I were to pay $3700 for a small box, it would have to be built by Steve Ramsey.
That’s a really cool technique for a box… I like it!
You probably invested that much for the saw and other tools. Well done 👍🏽
I wouldn’t even pay 3700 for my box that I get buried in
Is there a 2ct diamond in tht box:) miss ur weekly pallet project videos steve!! Ik its not worth doing anymore cuz the algorithm and ads ruined everything
Worth every penny. Nice box.
I made a box just like this year's ago. Felt lined it & used it as our ring bearer box in our wedding. It was such an enjoyable process & with the other things I built for our wedding, just made everything that much more personal. Plus I was able to brag when I got complements lol.
No, but I have made a couple using the steps in these videos, and then made a book-matched one out of bocote to fit the cushion that came with an engagement ring...she likes the ring, and loves the box
Gorgeous! I love watching your projects ❤
Yes. Without hesitation.
The world is a big place. You only need to find one person per month to say “yes” and you’re having a pretty easy life.
With lumber prices that sounds about right
it's funny most of the men in here have paid way more than that for a little pink box
Add tiny magnets. They’re used for table top game miniatures. I imagine it would make a very satisfying sound at the end of the short.
That's an expensive upgrade at these rates
I would definitely pay $3,700 for the tools and knowledge required to set up a business to create and sell these boxes. Definitely.
In fact, I already have.
Hell, I´ll take two!!!
That's cool Dude!
Yes, if the tools and personal lesson came with😊
I figured it was going to have a $3650 💍 engagement ring in it!
Nice box
I could not. But I’d want to!
Only if it was stuffed with gold bullion
Great video Steve! Thanks for sharing
Great video Steve! Thanks.
I want that time back.
Just waste time leaving cliched comments. That ought to help!
While I recognize the clickbait and don't take it seriously, there is something to be said about cost regarding the type and amount of materials in a custom made product being secondary to the labor and technique used to make it.
Thanks!
Thanks Tim!
@@SteveRamsey you're welcome, small token for the great channel. I just refurbished a mid 1940s craftsman bench saw. Cast iron. Can't post pictures here.
I think i saw these at the buck and a quarter store
Definitely. Do you have a store to buy this?
Aww! It's so little! 🥰
Yes
nice good job looks well made
It would depend on what is in the box... 😀
If he gets $3700, I'm making them myself. Sounds like easy money... you want it out of exotics woods, price goes way higher!
Nice box, but is that a serious question? I feel like I'm missing the joke. Love your work, you've inspired me on my very slow progressing woodworking career (read: I watch TH-cam videos and think about doing something someday 😅)

@@SteveRamsey yup, read it afterwards 🤦🏼♂️. But I gotta admit, this worked out. Feels like I just got an autograph from a celebrity 🥳
I would make on myself
nice. I made a humidor in a similar manner out of cherry.
Id make it myself
$3700? No but I’d give you 10 bucks for it.
No! But thank you for your honest message
it's short but, well, not a short =)
When someone says pine box I think coffin and I mean….. $3,700 is pretty reasonable for a coffin👀
Depends... what's in the box?
I'd keeeel fo dat box bo...
Keel!!
Make it fit a commander deck and then we're talkin!
I clicked cos its your video not the bait. When i see outrageous titles i know im being had.
And this, ladies and gentlemen, is why I wish to be mulched when I pass on.
I can do tree fidy.
All kidding aside. I have to ask.
What prompted the question?
Did you use 3.7k in tools?
If it had a big massive diamond ring in it
Depends on how much gold is in it! Haha. That’s pretty slick though. I like it!
I think it's a deeper meaning, if you spend 3700 on equipment then make something worthwhile not simple like a little pine box...
Súper!!!!!!
He forgot to show the gold plated lining!
Nice box, nice lid , but maybe 37 dollars
3700 in tools. You bet I’d pay that
Best I can do is 100 on that. But great work.
Id only pay high if it had ivory centers and connectors all nailed in with 14ct gold
Does the box come with a diamond ring?
You forgot the comma before the zero’s
Shoot, yeah!...and now let me tell ya 'bout a certain bridge I'd like to sell. Sheesh!!!
мне было бы стыдно если бы я просил за нее больше 10 беларусских рублей (4$), но это более-менее честная цена за такую работу
