Ya know... If my wife still ate bread... I'd make one. Other than that... love the variety of tools used. Love the convenience of the way it hangs on the board. L8er James.
Super idea James. That’s a project that would be great for gifts. I’ll have to file this one away for a future quick project. I’m looking forward to the breadboard video later this week. Thanks.
Hey great video! Thank-you! Just in time for Christmas. I think i will use an old bandsaw blade for this project. Hopefully thats food safe enough lol. Should be. Bandsaws are used in the butcher room.
Hi James Great video, with nice start (as usual). Very timely for me, just starting on my woodworking hobby, and a great fan of fiddle bow bread saws. I couldn’t find a convenient place to hang it, so my first woodworking project was to make a breadboard with a cavity to hold the bread saw. I used a power router as I could not imagine using a chisel or hand router to excavate the wood. I would upload a pic if I could, as it looks better than I expected, and works very well - might just inspire you to show us how to do the same with hand tools! Michael
I'm loving this series of beginner woodworking projects James. I find myself buying more and more hand tools now. I absolutely love old saws and there history. Mainly Disston being from Philadelphia subberbs. I buy every one I find no matter what make, at worst I upcycle the blade & saw nuts into different saws or scrapers, making a new handle for a saw is very relaxing and rewarding. By the way what was that block plane you were using? Was it a low-angle Sargent 5206 I believe, it looks exactly like one I just acquired at a flea market for five bucks! I love the darn thing lol. Any way keep up the great work James love these beginner videos.
I'm a little late to this here party but nice project. While I'm a power tool guy myself I enjoyed watching your technique. You lost me with the flat head screws which I'm not even sure why they still sell but really nice project.
Someone got me a weird looking thing to cut bread It is harder to use than a typical bread knife though It wabbles and takes much more effort for me. Maybe its my small size and lightweight. I cant seem to use it well at all.
I have every tool you used but will not be using them. Sorry but I will use my template and router table with a flush trim bit and battery powered sander.
Not sure who gave thumbs down but I give two thumbs up.
Last Christmas I made some bread boards and Swedish Butter Knives for gifts. What a great follow up gift... Thanks James!
I like it!

Thanks man.
Your passion for your craft is infectious
I don't have half the tools you have, but I want to do more handcrafting.
Thanks. That is about the best complement I could get.
That was great James, looking forward to the bread board video, it looks really cool when you put them together.
Thanks man!

Almost done! Works great. But i need to bang the bandsaw blade down. The blades teeth are jagged. Once i bang them i think it'll be good to go.
Well that f'd that blade. Broke all the tips. Haha idk what im thinking. Stillearning. Now i know
Hi there from Portugal,

Very cool and a great beginner project too, nothing too complicated. I'm sure my girlfriend will want one as soon as she sees this ;)
Looking forward to seeing it!

Thanks. I am hoping to do more. It is very similer but a Stanley
Looks fantastic, I also like your idea with the bread board too 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Now you just need to make a matching butter knife to complete your set 😁
Lol yes that would make the set.
Nice

Thanks. Regular screws they are pain. But for larger head screws they're often very useful.
nice vid as usual. When you are drilling a hole for, let's say a 3mm screw, what bit diameter do you use?
The mesurment of the shank inside the threads.
Great idea. How's the table going?
Thanks. Really looking forward to having time to hit the table again. I have been gone too much for that lately.
Great starter project for beginners! Was that a bandsaw blade?
Thanks. That is a bread knife blade I got on line. There is a link in the description to the exact one.
Is that a segment of a broken bandsaw blade?
No. It is a bread knife blade you can purchase. There's a link to it in the description if you want to see the exact one I used.
Very nice project James :) ॐ
Thanks.
Someone got me a weird looking thing to cut bread
It is harder to use than a typical bread knife though
It wabbles and takes much more effort for me.
Maybe its my small size and lightweight.
I cant seem to use it well at all.
Now I’m hungry.
Lol yup.
Something is wrong here, no white oak?
Lol I know right
WHAT!?!?!? Not using white oak! Blasphemy!!!!!
Lol I know right.
But what about those lefties?? ;)
Then flip the blade over.
I'm wondering how a used bandsaw blade would work for a bread knife. Like say the blade off my Wood-Mizer?
Naa!
Might be worth a try!
Darrel Carson I was thinking of a hacksaw blade ( new ) finest we can find .
David White I'm sure that would be a better choice than one tooth every 7/8 inch.
That is a huge watch face.....
It is a running watch. Ultra running is my other hobby.
All of the carpenters I sub to are bad@ss
ty for the vid :)
Thanks!
