Cindy you are not Rita Marley. Give Rita Marley the right to own the legacy of her husband.
Can you imagine Marilyn Monroe being allowed to disrespect John F Kennedy's widow by lecturing on their affair especially while Mrs Kennedy was alive.. HELL NO.
By listening to this in full, my takeaway is that Cindy is enamoured with the legacy and worldwide recognition Bob has achieved since his death. That is what she is desperately trying to attach herself too. But you see, the person who helped build that legacy from the very beginning was his one and only wife Rita Marley, from carrying his records on her head to selling them in-front of her aunts house when he was a nobody. Then when he passed, it was Rita who preserved his legacy over the decades by her work. Cindy was busy marrying two other rich white men and having two other kids, but now later in life wants to try and take “credit” for that work. Nope! You was not there from Day 1, you came to benefit once Rita already laid the groundwork. Cindy was one of many groupies looking for a come up and gave Bob the time of day only because of his rising star. If Bob did not become the worldwide superstar and revered legend he is today, she wouldn’t be so proud to have been a Rasta Man’s side piece and one of many baby mothers. This is what you call a barefaced shameless matey suffering from side chick syndrome who still doesn’t know her place in history. You sat at the back of his funeral for a reason. Tuh!

Sometimes I wonder, had the tables been turned; Cindy - an uptown white woman had been married to Bob and Rita was one of his many women outside his marriage. Would the same sort of platform and admiration be given? There are lots of underlining currents and I believe it says a lot about us as Jamaicans.

You spoke of no rivalry then, what changed? You are now eaten up by jealousy, after giving that powerful speech, UWI turned around and gifted Rita with honourable awards. Bob's words to Rita in a song come to mind "no woman no cry". He knew then she would be his eternal queen.
The birthday tribute was showing rivalry as it came out with the movie One Love which focuses on Rita's role in Bob's life. What kind of birthday tribute makes a list of the places where people mated?
Why should these old people keep on living in shame. Bob had a lot of women, but he loved this woman, and he loved Rita. Get over it. If he lived, he would have had many, many more women and kids. Bob said it himself, Judge Not, before you judge yourself.
She’s still deeply jealous and bitter about being the mistress in the story that she will try her hardest to be validated as someone who was “special” she’ll never come close to the importance of Rita Marley in Bob’s life. She was just a footnote in his story and he moved on after just like he did with all the others. She’s disrespectful and should think about her son in these moments, because all Cindy does is get hate and backlash!

I’m not sure why Cindy Breakespeare was invited to the Institute of Caribbean Studies to give this lecture. Really unbelievable. And if Dr Carolyn Cooper who inaugurated this institute was still the director, trust me, Cindy would NEVER have been invited. At all.
Watch the first part of the tape: Dr. Cooper was there enjoying everything and participating in the introductions. As Dr. Cooper believes, Bad publicity is better than no publicity at all.

I have continued to get to this video. Many parts of the narrative drew tears from my eyes
No ill will but she says she would be the woman to share the rest of his days with? She wasn’t with him in the end and married shortly after his death so when was she dating her then husband to be? I think she was attracted to his fame unlike his ride or die who seems to have proved her genuine dedication even after his death! Bob was preaching equal rights, truth & justice which was great, yet in the same breath he was doing so much wrong to the most significant species of the earth; the women. I don’t believe in double standards . We have to practice what we preach if we want to be exemplary leaders. In this aspect; Bob was significant in other areas & millions including myself is very proud of his accomplishments, some of his principles & what he did to put reggae, Jamaica & black people on a global platform. However Bob led a promiscuous life & hurt many people; family members mostly. Bob’s legacy is a mix of repeat hurting & emotional abused as well as bitter sweet moments of his wife, children & baby mothers. Helplessly all the women in Bob’s life were deeply & helplessly in love with this phenomenal man. In the meantime Bob wanted to complete desperately his one mission & purpose in this life that he was born to do. Great presentation Cindy well done speech. Also, a year after Cindy did this lecture this same university (UWI) honoured Rita Marley with an honorary doctorate degree, she’s now known as The Honourable Dr Rita Marley OJ OD LITT in Jamaica. Rita will always have the accolades, adulation, reverence and respect that Cindy will never have not matter how much she’s deluded herself. Rita is the Queen of his legacy and has worked tirelessly over the decades in preserving it into what it is today, she will forever have my respect.

Wow, this was really heartbreaking. When Cindy talks about how Bob was trying to prepare his children for his eventual death...how brave of them all. I wish Bob had gone to Mexico instead of Germany, too, for his final days!

What a story shared. We filter through the limited lenses we’ve known most if not all of our lives. Hearing her story of how she, Rita, Diane, Bob, and all their children celebrated holidays together at his mother’s house in Miami had me in awe, to say the least. They created their own version of family…
That was absolutely a beautiful expression of 'One Love'. Love of family, of people, of Bob's love for all people. Cindy was eloquent, honest, and loving in her presentation. She draws pictures with her words. I felt like I had journeyed through it with her. Beautiful expression of a life well lived. 🇯🇲💚💛🖤

I admire her. I was raised in a traditional western Christian culture yet I can find the space within me to be empathetic and understanding. I embrace whatever this was meant to be. We are all imperfect humans. There is no child that is a mistake in God’s creation. Bob Marley transcended societal norms. Thank God for the gift he was and remains. Thank you Cindy for sharing your little piece of the bridge with us - Powerful and relevant. We can judge, but it’s history.

Bob was always about love, one love, & to see how it played out between u & Rita, unite together by caring for him, I know he must have felt all that love around him long side of his entire family. Was I expecting too much to hear something about the importance to Bob of his visits to Africa in the last year of his life? And if there was such sisterly sharing didn't you meet Pascaline Bongo when she visited him at 56 Hope Road in that year? Yes, Africa loved Bob, and Bob longed for Africa.
Cindy can only speak of an earlier stage in Bob's life when she was with him, along with various other women. By the time Damien was born he paid her off with house and business and she was not to know about his dreams to repatriate to Africa or about the African woman that he loved.
By the last year of his life Cindy was out of Bob's life as a bedmate and companion.

Major insight from Cindy's lecture is that her bridge with Bob was physical fitness - they did push ups together.
We have learnt that Cindy was indifferent to the South African situation that had other contestants in Miss World 1976 demonstrating against the inclusion of apartheid queens from South Africa and withdrawing from the competition.

Cindy doesn't want to be what she actually is. And that's a footnote in the history of Bob Marley's life. She was one of several women he dated, fooled around and fathered a child with. She's looking to be held in higher esteem. Some of it stems from her having a chip on her shoulder birthing a illegitimate son and wanting to make her and Bob’s union more than what it is was….an adulterous affair. She'll have to do what she's always done, and that's settle for what she can get and is entitled to. She didn't get to be Mrs Bob Marley. She didn't get to be, in the eyes of the world the woman most closely tied to his music, life and musical career. She didn't get to be
acknowledged by him or the media the most important woman in his life or even one of the most important. Whatever the status of their marriage, Rita was still his wife at the time of his death and Cindy was his mistress, which is why she was sat at the back of his funeral. Rita put up with her during his life. There's no reason for her to do so now after his death. I thought with old age and after 2 marriages it would give one clarity and self respect, I guess not!
Mr. Bob Marley is an international hero. The admiration is deeper than being fans. People want to know. Ms. Breakspare has insight. All the baby mothers should come together to share their tales.

If Cindy is a spokesperson for Bob Marley's legacy, how come she made the person who tried to kill him in 1976, be the godfather of Christian, her first child for her husband Tom Tavares Finson, in 1982. Because in this day and age a woman is defined by the man she mated with and had a child. Surprisingly, Cindy attended the best girls' high school in Jamaica which has produced powerful leaders in education business and sports to just name a few. Somehow Cindy believes that it was an accomplishment to have dropped out of school before completing her academic education.
Because her delusions of grandeur in Bob's life knows no limits. Bob had extra-marital children while married to Rita but she thinks she is special.

Because of the old double standard where a man can and should have many women but a woman must only be devoted to one man. Cindy speaks as if the high point of her life was her few years with Bob Marley and her clock stopped ticking when he died. She has nothing to say about her subsequent alliances. This is disrespectful to her other husbands but she knows that her calling card to the microphone is her relationship with Bob.

Cindy is still beautiful after all these years; it's easy to see what Bob saw in her. Not just her beauty but also she is clearly an intelligent woman and has CHARISMA. Damian is one of Bob's MOST talented musicians and very spiritual Rasta music he produces! I have no idea why Rita tolerated Bob's having other women...maybe she just accepted it because he was an internationally adored musician and many women would flock to him. He has 13 kids for a reason!

I met Cindy Breakspeare in person shortly after she won, she was stunningly beautiful then and is still so now, but much more than her physical appearance is her charm, and wit, she is a person who dominates a room, you can't help but notice her, she is polite, personable, and very, very down to earth.
With all that said, she was and is still just a baby mama to Bob. Regardless of how many people who say he loved Cindy, just not enough to marry her. with all his and Rita's open marriage, she was the love of his life, and he showed it. Get over it.
