Do any of these store bought pesticides work as compared to a product the pros use such as TreeAzin?

Q: What is the odds that it will be be effective on an affected tree? Any rule of thumb?
I have an Ash tree 🌲 which I had to cut down one of its 5 main branches in early June this year because it was dead. All the other branches are having leaves 🍃 I used Bauer liquid solution right after, but not sure if I can expect any results. Is it too late to treat with home owner methods? Or I should stay hopeful? 😊

I am currently treating 3 Ash tress in my backyard. It is suggested to cut any dead limbs from the tree and burn them. My question is: Should the epicormic shoots be trimmed off as well? Thanks

2-03-2018 - - - Been watching lots of these videos and none so far tell how the EAB gets to/into the tree in the first place. Are they airborne or crawling across the ground? Thanks for the video.

Thanks for your question. Emerald Ash Borer male and female beetles feed on ash leaves for 1-2 weeks before mating. Then the female lays eggs in crevices of the bark. The eggs hatch and larvae chew through the bark and start burrowing in the cambium (phloem) layer of the tree. As they progress through four larval stages, larvae eat through the active phloem and also into xylem of the ash tree, effectively cutting off the tree's plumbing, depriving it of water and nutrients. Each female adult lays about 60-90 eggs (one at a time), so the infestation can progress rapidly in an area once the beetle is established.
The larvae spend the winter beneath the bark. In early spring, EAB pupates and transforms into an adult. The beetle emerges from under the bark by chewing a D-shaped exit hole, usually June through late July with peak emergence expected in June. Adults fly to the top of the ash tree and feed on the leaves, thus beginning the cycle again. There is only 1 generation per year for this destructive pest. Once an ash tree is infested with EAB it will die within 2-4 years.

www.domyown.com/dominion-2l-termiticide-concentrate-p-1223.html Read instructions for trees/flathead borers. .4 oz per inch diameter max. Treats 18" diameter (54" circumference ) tree for 3 yearly about 9 oz treatments. Otherwise I am sure Home Despot/Lowes has something more expensive.

Notice the evacuating worm to the left of the trunk @ 1:37. Unfortunate collateral damage that is inherent to the drenching method....can't save everything!

There are tons of worms, they aren't dying in the millions like Ash trees.

Should I wait to do treatment if it’s going to rain?

Ask you local tree professional. Mine is to injects 2-3 days after rain because the tree will be 'drinking' and the liquid moves fast through the cambian layer

Would it be ok to treat when it’s about to rain?

      Q. Our soil is very moist from all the rain. Is it too wet to use the soil drench?
      A. Avoid using the imidacloprid soil drench if there is standing water under the tree. Drenching when the soil is moist is okay, except just before a heavy rain. Drenching moist soil may even be helpful for moving the insecticide into the root zone. Movement of imidacloprid below the roots and deeper into the soil or run-off is very unlikely unless a heavy rain immediately follows a drench to saturated soil, or unless a heavy rain follows a drench to extremely sandy soil. *Source: go.iastate.edu/QR1AHG
