Hi there, thank you for your question! I would start by trying to repair the drive by going to the drive location selecting tools and then check and scan the drives for any errors. If that doesn't work Try opening up CMD and then typing the following commands 1 by 1 : "diskpart", "list disk", "select disk "drive letter"", "attributes disk clear readonly", "clean", "create partition primary", "format fs=ntfs quick", "assign letter="drive letter"" Hope this helps if not I would recommend taking it to a professional for further assistance.
Hi there, thank you for your question! If you tried all the steps mentioned it might be an issue with the drive itself and I would recommend taking it to a professional for further assistance.
I had both errors ( 1 ) the disk check could not be performed because Windows cannot access the disk ( & ) ( 2 ) the type of the file system is raw. chkdsk is not available for raw drives ( can you please help me out )
Hi there, thank you for your question! The errors you're encountering indicate that your drive might be corrupted. First, connect the drive to another USB port or a different computer to rule out connection issues. Check Disk Management to see if the drive appears as RAW or unallocated, and try assigning a new drive letter. If the file system remains RAW, I recommend trying data recovery software like Recoverit to recover your files before attempting repairs. After recovery, you can format the drive in Disk Management to convert it back to NTFS (this erases all data). If none of the steps mentioned work, the drive may have hardware damage, and I recommend taking it to a professional for further assistance.
Hi there, thank you for your question! Try close and reopen Command Prompt with administrative privileges, use the on-screen keyboard by typing osk in the Run dialog (Windows + R), or restart your computer. Additionally, ensure you run Command Prompt as an administrator by right-clicking and selecting "Run as administrator" before entering diskpart. If the issue persists, there may be an underlying system problem.
Hi there, thank you for your question! The trial version of Recoverit only supports scanning and previewing files. If you need to download files, you need to purchase the full product. At the same time, Recoverit provides a free version, which supports free download of 100M data.
Hi there, thank you for your question! You need to open Disk Management, right-click the RAW drive, and select Format. Choose NTFS or FAT32 as the file system and proceed. and then just accept all the steps and your drive should be formatted.
Hi there, thank you for your question! Start by checking physical connections and ensuring everything is secure. If the disk is recognized but inaccessible, try running CHKDSK via Command Prompt to repair file system errors, or assign a new drive letter in Disk Management. Updating the disk drivers in Device Manager may also help. If the disk shows as unallocated, be cautious when initializing as it can wipe the data. Persistent issues, especially if you hear clicking noises from the disk, may indicate hardware failure, in which case professional recovery services might be needed.
Hi there, thank you for your question! This suggests severe corruption or hardware failure in the drive. Start by checking connections, especially for external drives, and ensure the drive is recognized in Disk Management. Running CHKDSK via Command Prompt (using chkdsk X: /f /r) can attempt to repair bad sectors, but extensive damage may prevent this. Backup any critical data immediately if possible. It's most likely that you will need to replace the drive.
As an MCSE i was hopeing for something i didnt know. Not usefull really, you didnt even say about CHKDSK /f /x. fix and dismount the disk.
