  • This video discusses how dungeon masters might want to run axeholm from dragon of icespire peak. Dungeon master questions and answers for dragon of icespire peak & lost mine of phandelver. The dragon of icespire peak is in the dungeons & dragons essentials kit for d&d 5e. Dungeon Master guide and advice discussing in detail everything people want to know about the axeholm quest. Dragon of Icespire Peak is an adventure for beginner players, but more likely intermediate players for d&d 5e. This is just my opinion and experience, take it with a grain of salt as everyone's experience will be different.

    One thing needed also was how the 2nd floor connects to the 1st

      Quote
      If any character inspects the throne, the ghoul lets out a shriek and attacks. Its shriek is heard by the ghouls in area A26, which crawl down the chimney and clamber out of the fireplace. This group contains two soot-covered ghouls plus one additional ghoul for each member of the party, not including sidekicks. After all other creatures in the hall have taken a first turn in combat, these ghouls join the battle, acting on the same initiative count as the former castellan.
      That's what I meant other than the stairs :)

    Hey Fred, great video! The more videos you make about DoIP the more I want to buy it. Didn't know they had a whole undead adventure. @7:02 Fred you can't show such a epic picture like that one and not give us a stat block (just kidding Fred). I am going to try and find that picture, really curious and it's inspiring.
    Thanks Fred you have a wonderful day!

    Lost Mines of Phandelver spoilers
    I wonder have you seen if players who have already been through lost mines of phandelver would be bored because a lot of the creatures here are the same as that adventure? I think the only difference is in LMoP the adventurers were lucky because the banshee was a social encounter.

    Fred, something ive noticed is that you and other N.Z. DM's tend to make your games too easy for players. I live in USA now but my family in Auckland I keep in touch with daily tells me stories about their games and I can't help but compare them to my experiences. In USA games tend to be more challenging to downright brutal for players. Its a really interesting topic I'd like to research more about regional playstyles around the world. Have you ever noticed this yourself?

    • @HowtoRPG
      @HowtoRPG  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think that a few people from NZ that you know is not representative of the whole of New Zealand Dungeons and Dragons communities combat encounter difficulty. I don't explain what I do as a DM with my home group very often, but I can assure you that your barking up the wrong tree. Public D&D Adventurer's League games are also run the same way around the world.

    • @HowtoRPG

      @@merrickmiller1224 The only guides I have made that might mention making combat easier are Lost Mine of Phandelver and Dragon of Icespire Peak which are meant to be for beginners. I don't say that for the Curse of Strahd.

      @craven1927 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@merrickmiller1224 both Lost Mine of Phandelver and Dragon of Icespire Peak have encounters that are unbalanced for beginning players that could potentially wipe a party before they really get going. Fighting a manticore at level 1 or walking into a dragon's lair at level 2 or 3 are potentially deadly encounters. The point of the game is to have fun, and if you as a DM are killing your players' characters before they have a chance to do anything, that's not much fun for them.
