When Fubuki tells them her backstory in S2E2, he's reading the Sunman comic, which also has Boros as the main villain, who is stronger than everyone and whom no one can defeat. There is such a theory that the monsters are materialized by Saitama with his imagination. Think about it, the seaweed monster also appeared when he wanted to cook seaweed soup and went shopping. The manga also has a bonus chapter where Saitama walks down the street with a comic in hand and ponders why monsters in real life aren't as powerful as in these stories. Then he encounters a group of monsters that look just like the ones in the comic he's reading.
The thing about Saitama power is that similar to Goku, there is no limit. However with Saitama, his growth is so insane that if you were to put him in a room with Zeno, 10 minutes later and he’ll come out stronger (if Zeno didn’t choose to erase him from the start). It’s crazy.
I always thought that too. The subterraneans never died, Saitama never kills them, they are the only villains that retreated in the show….this feels like a foreshadowing to them coming back and eventually that will be the final fight.
