eh, the original compositions that got converted to the FM synth had a lot more things in them, but I guess part of the blame is the hardware and the rest goes to their driver
@@Darbyjack When it comes to Day of the Tentacle, the game had three versions of every song, one for each of the different MIDI hardwares/sound cards of the time: AdLib, Roland MT-32, and General MIDI. When people refer to the "MIDI" version of the DOTC OST, they're typically referring to the general MIDI one, which is usually seen as the highest quality one (and iirc, what the remasters based their version of the OST off of)
I recently played the game (again!) and this is exactly what I'm looking for (not the remasterization). These melodies will be on my mind for the next weeks/months. Awesome work! 😎👌
Masterpiece. I played a few Sierra and LucasArts games when I was little and when I grew up I cached up on some missing titles. Played this only in 2006 and the adlib sounds really nail it. The "remastered" version don't make any sense whatsoever. A real orchestra live show would be great, but other than that the original is the best. Thanks for taking the time to do this!

The remastered shite doesn't do it for me, the crispiness of the sound sounds so cheap.. Somehow I love this lo-fi layer of the original, it brings out all the right flavours for me. Was around 5yo when the game came out, remember me and my teenage brother pretending to sleep and waiting for my parents to go and playing this all night in our room. The ambiance of this soundtrack used to mesmerise me as a kid. It has this wacky 90's feel to it, that zeitgeist... I loved it. Now I listen it in the middle of the night with my lava lamp on having this feeling I had so many many years back. I realised how many wacky things I got in my room... Like right straight from the DOTT. Doing the full circle... who'd have known :) Thanks for taking me right back! It really is precious as hell...

I even made my own soundtrack from the files from DOTT remastered but some of the cues were missing(including the opening with the distortion sound) With all the other versions people chose to use the "Remastered" version of the ost instead so this is a great find
Though you seem to be missing the "Meanwhilst" cue when you're in the past and a cutaway happens. Also when Dr. Fred is woken up I think it's a slight variation of the theme used in "The Super Battery"
@@jasonelmore9527 You're right! I only realized I missed the "Meanwhilst" cue after uploading the video... And I guess the Dr Fred waking up cue was similar enough to the Red Edison super battery cue that I didn't notice that it was different
@@ElliottRidgway I think the only difference in waking Dr.Fred is 1) the startup that is absent alone from the double fine explorer files and 2) possibly a slight variation toward the middle or end, though that might actually be the remastered game in classic mode. I can probably get those myself although meanwhilst will have to take some patience, seeing as it's random and unlike the news in the present it can't be triggered by doing certain things
Actually there might not be much of a difference if at all after the startup but meanwhilst has 2 somewhat unique short versions of both Betsy Ross and Ben Franklin, I mostly know about them from the files found with double fine explorer from DOTT remastered. However the Ben Franklin one was in the "Lucas arts soundtracks" release online. Also the DOTT remastered game has an annoying musical problem with the chattering teeth in that in classic mode it has high pitched sound that is normal in the original release, which is one of the reasons I'm glad you put this up
Okay I have a major problem that I need help with, see I recorded the meanwhilst stuff from my laptop with audacity, but then I found out that everything I record from a computer has a computer whirring noise. It ruined several things I had recorded so I was wondering, how did you record your tracks without a computer humming noise in the background?

Thanks for uploading, anyway, it's fun to listen to on this evening, but I hope I'll find the soundtrack without these flaws elsewhere some time to listen to more often! Edit 2: Seems like it will be hard to make such a soundtrack render in general, because of the workings of iMUSE! Edit 3: Yeah wow, listen to Yann van der Cruysen's upload, he has the Rossini theme play out, and they made so much of it!

I"M WATCHING IT AGAIN TODAY! And I started the "Shadow of the Pink Panther" ! :D I also wanted to let you know that I have started the filming for my movie. It should come out early next year! 😁😁
We just drifted apart, got interested in different things as time went on. I looked at the Video editor you suggested, it looks good but it' way too much money for me right now. I found two free editors one is called Blender, the other is called Light works. If you have heard of either of these would you recommend them?
Oops, sorry! I thought Elements was free. I use Blender for 3d animation, but I don't know how good of a video editor it is. You might also try DaVinci Resolve, I know for sure that it's free, but it's kinda hard to use.

That is one of the reasons that I don't like Disney as much as I used to. Did you know that there was a Monkey Island film being made. And Disney cancelled it. I WAS SO MAD!! Also have you played Thimbleweed Park or is it not very good.
@@dottthemovie Thimbleweed Park is excellent! I would say it's most similar to Maniac Mansion, but not as difficult. I totally consider it part of the LucasArts adventure game library, even though it's not technically by LucasArts :)

Adlib is so superior to modern remasters.
This is the one I'm used to. The other one on TH-cam is not even close to what I remember as a kid.

For this game, I think the 3 versions (MT-32 / GM(SC-55) / Adlib) sounds cool. But i also grew with the SB version.
