Born & raised here in Blono and I love it! 😊 (For reference I’m 42)
This was wholesome. I grew up in Bloomington and currently live in Denver. I like it here but I always brag about how nice my hometown is.
After leaving for 30 years, I went back for a family event, and still couldn't stand it. The people were friendly, but it seemed out of boredom. There was a land locked feeling I don't know how to describe. A lot of the architecture looks stuck in the 70's, but not in a good way.
@@qua7771 it’s the community for me. I had a great time in Illinois.
@@DionteHelm I think there is a certain type that likes it there.
Appreciate the comment :) Bloomington is nice! A whole lot cheaper than Denver too lol. But we don't have mountains
*Real top 5 reasons are*
1: No fish in the lakes
2: They dont sell fun fireworks
3: The winters are too cold and the summers are too hot
4: The roads are never fixed and instead they decide to fix the sidewalks that people use every other month
5: Its nearly impossible to have a decent looking lawn without spending 400 dollars on fertilizer
Thanks for the input!
1. To catch the big fish you just need to know where the honey holes are :)
2. Illinois has a law banning real fire works unfortunately. Just drive to Indiana lol
3. Some people like the crazy weather differences.
4. I see road construction all of the time. Unfortunately, we salt the roads so often from the snow, potholes form easily.
5. Agreed with the lawn, theres always a 2 week period during the summer that the grass is absolutely dead!
Born in Bloomington. Left at 18. Back at 22 to 23. Left again and would never go back. Remember, Bloomington is in Illinois. Enough said.
That's the down fall of Bloomington, is the state it's in lol
Our family moved from Normal when I was 14 years old. I'm retired and I find I still miss it. Blo-No (as I hear some call the area) was a great, great place to grow up.
Bloomington/Normal is alright. I lived there as a kid and went to Oakdale and Pepper Ridge elementary.
Yep! It's awesome!
Bloomington is my hometown. I lived there up until I was 11 years old. Went to Emerson Elementary school which is now torn down. I miss Bloomington and I’m currently living in Tucson Arizona. A god awful place of crime low wages and homeless people. Bloomington has a lot of culture and history and I went back about 10 years ago when I was visiting my sister in Decatur. The old courthouse is still standing in the center of downtown. Awesome place! Any place is better than Tucson.
Thanks for the comment! We agree with you, it is an Awesome place to live :)
I respectfully disagree (although we all remember that picture of the street in Tucson that the mayor called the ugliest street in America). For a really awful experience, you have to go to Odessa, Texas. The armpit of Hell.
I lived in this town and left 3 years ago. I worked for State Farm Corporate at the bank until they closed it. I since moved to California. Bloomington has some nice things about it, but glad I left for warmer. They have festivals, but nothing culturally like Hispanic or Asian festivals.
Good points! Yeah Cali is super nice! I go out there every year to visit Yosemite, it's amazing. Cost of living is insaneeee tho
I'm an introvert and I loved it there when I visited 2 years ago.
And yes, the people were friendly. Definitely compared to Chicago people!
And even polite in traffic.
I hope to move there later this year.
It's a great city :) Give us a call, text or email, we'll help you move when you are ready. We are always here available to assist!
I already do all those things in Belvidere, Illinois.
Love that!
Please tell me about house prices under 100,000$.
What about $ for an average two bedroom apartment ?
I’m somewhat familiar with Bloomington/Normal.
The prices for everything near Chicago and Rockford area has gone through the roof.
I’m trying to deal with a fixed income, well almost a fixed income. The raise in even just the cost of food these days is having a profound effect on any ability to save for emergencies.
Rent for a 2 bed apartment is about $1200. To buy a 2 bed apartment, closer to $120-140k. There's honestly not much under $100k anymore that doesn't need a ton of work unfortunately. A few years back there were more. You can still buy apartments for less than $100k though.

I thank you for responding, telling us about Bloomington. Can you tell me about very small towns? I by nature like living in a rural area. I like the smell of fresh cut alfalfa and straw. I’m not doing good where I live in Belvidere, Illinois. I’m
close to Rockford, Illinois.
Do you or does anyone know about finding an old semi-.poor condition.
I’m actually pretty good carpenter.
I was a union carpenter near Chicago for years. If the house is like the old Hainy place I am interested. My children are grown and gone on to live their life independently and freely. I’m a good enough carpenter to take on a run down home. 🙋♀️
What a great video!
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks so much for watching!
I would like to move here but I live on the other side of the ocean
Where's that? South America?
Cute
I live in bloomington these facts are goofy 😂
I know. We gotta remake this video and make a legit reason why you should avoid BloNo! I'll make that in the next month or two - Brady
I want to move to Bloomington
Cool 😎 it's a great place to live! Feel free to reach out to Brady or myself if you need help with housing at all!
its good for a family. But once your children get a lot older then you have to move to a bigger house since the rooms are a bit small in a lot of the houses. but not all.
Click bait title smh
😂 I'll give you some reasons not to move here lol. 1. The weather changes a lot, 2. There's not an ocean here, 3. We don't have mountains, 4. Our roads in Illinois need some work, 5. No scenery but corn fields 😂
Hope this helps,
- Brady
A really cool aspect of bloomingtons zero-traffic Eutopia , is that no one here has learned how to navigate a safe and respectful distance when another car is anywhere on any road near them. at least once per week there is a 4 car pile up on a completely empty street that backs up traffic in the entire city for 3 hours. It’s a modern marvel honestly
I'm not sure if you are talking about Bloomington Illinois or a different Bloomington? I've definitely seen wrecks that have obviously caused some driving delays, but never three hour back ups. Interesting. Thanks for your input!

Yea, I have lived here my whole life. I have never experienced something like what you are describing.
I agree. I have lived here my whole life, save 6 years I was in college, and I am still damn near shocked at the awful driving in this town. The citizens here have zero self awareness when it comes to driving and every 4 way stop is like watching children trying to solve quantum physics. The only place I've visited that has worse drivers is Houston, TX.
There is so much traffic. If yiu drive on oakland or veterans lol.
I consider traffic where you sit and can't move your car for 20 mins. We don't really have that here right? Lol
@@LivinginBloomingtonNormalIL not a lot. Its only when theres an accident on the road or something like that. Or a really really long red light
I can only think of one reason not to move to Bloomington/Normal, IL, if you're a damn DemocRAT! 👍
Bloomington is very purple when it comes to politics (lots of democrats and republicans).
@@LivinginBloomingtonNormalIL I know, but red is better, keep the blue and purple crap up north in Shitgaco!
The mayor is democrat and he's pretty cool.
Not all democratics are bad. Not all republicans are good.
There's good and bad and suckage everywhere.😂
