The Pirates, Mick Green shaped Wilko Johnsons sound and Dr Feelgood as such. I was lucky enough to see The Pirates and was totally blown away. Check "Gibson, Martin Fender"at the Hope and Anchor on here. It sums them up.
To be fair to Brinsey Schwarz the reason the show at the Fillmore East was a disaster is that an American customs officer had spent three days trying to do all in his power to prevent the band from entering the USA (they were in Canada trying to get their visas straightened out). By the time the light aircraft had got them to New York there wasn’t even time for a sound check. And the music journalists the record company had flown in were already drunk and snaky! To this day Brinsley himself is sanguine about it, saying at least they got to see Van Morrison perform, who was on the same bill. That band also included Nick Lowe, who still enjoys his solo career, and they had an underage roadie called Elvis Costello. Nick Lowe wrote the song What’s So Funny About Peace, Love and Understanding, the Brinsley Schwartz made the first recording and a few years later Elvis Costello made it a huge hit.
Pub Rock predates punk so none of these can have 'come from the punk scene.' Eddie and the Hot Rods were an influence on punk, not the other way round. Also, there was no '2nd British Invasion' at this time, the 2nd invasion happened in the 1980s.
FURSDAY 7/3/24 Hi Hey Hello everyone, I usted to frequent a pub in East London called the " LONDONER" , it was situated on the corner of ' East India Dock Road & Commercial Road, if memory serves me correctly, in fact Limehouse Police Station was just around the corner, *Pat Holland* the famous West Ham f⚽⚽tballer's Mum lived around the corner also.
