    Definitely agree about the initial conversation. The game has crossed the threshold of fixability. Now it's doomed. People may keep playing it until the servers eventually shut down, but from an enjoyability perspective, it's doomed. All we can do at this point is play until we individually are sick of it. Personally, I suspect I have about 6 months left before frustration finally forces me to close the game for the final time. The potential damage earning nerf is going to make the game even more passive, the increasing amount of hybrid lines, the support CVs, the regular CVs, the subs, all contribute to an erosion of mid-range concealment, which combined with the increasing amount of lolpen gun calibers are killing off enjoyability in cruiser lines, the absurdity of the torpedo and main battery arms race on DDs and the proliferation of radar as a gimmick on ships that should never have had radar, it's all making the game legitimately depressing to play. It's like with every patch I see a bit more of the game I fell in love with all those years ago die off. There's not much left of it anymore.

      Haha, they made a line of carriers that are also BBs with (reportedly) good guns. WG's going to be fine. There's a whole segment of the playerbase and potential players that are going to *devour* what those ships offer. A BB that can hide in the backline doing solid damage with its planes, then come out on full health with its guns *and* planes? Hahahaha, subs are nothing compared to that. That said: Much respect to you sticking with it so far. I uninstalled when the hybrids went live; I refused to play matches with two to four carriers in a match (as a DD or cruiser).

      @RPGTKingpin 2 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      @@micheljavert5923 Yeah, the CVBBs are such a back-asswards idea. As if we needed MORE planes in this already awfully aircraft-heavy game. It honestly feels like WG took offense to the failure of WoWP and decided the best way to punish gamers for it was to move WoWP into WoWS. The hilarious part is that you could see just how much they planned to flood the game with planes before it actually happened, a few patches ago, when they suggested they were "considering" a change to AA mechanics that was going to be put into closed testing. It doesn't make AA stronger, mind. Goodness knows we can't actually threaten the God Class or its derivatives. No, they just wanted to move the AA's focus to attacking squadrons rather than background ones. And then they went dead silent on that, so it's probably safe to say they've changed their minds.

      Once carriers turned the corner into a game mechanic that negates even the Air Defense consumable, this Game was boned. Subs were merely the "shot to the back of the head" that finished off WoWs.

    V-2 rockets were area affect weapon. They were never fired at moving targets (like ships). However Germans had radio guided bombs dropped by planes which were used against ships. Japan used aircraft to suicide against ships. I put nothing past WG in adding content to the game. In WoT they have whole line of made up stuff. Chinese tanks that have rocket boosters come to mind.

    It was always a dead game for me, been playing for 7 years, but these last 2-3 years all i have wanted is a cv free game, but with a cv in 9 out of 10 games it was only i matter of time before 1 game was enough for me not to have fun and turn it off, now i don't care to play, maybe 1-2 games a week. Schlieffen is a great example, want to use my stealth to get round into a good position but a cv that is not attacking me keeps spotting me the whole time, by the time i make it to where i wanted to go i am nearly dead, the guys i was going to fight have just run away and the cv sees i am an easy kill, comes over and kills me with out me being able to do a single thing about it because his ship is at the back of the map in a corner.

      I'm a military historian, and the inaccuracies of the game are what keep me from getting involved, but if you want my opinion, the game is reasonably accurate at the lower tiers--below Tier 5--precisely because all the gizmos are missing, and you have essentially a 2-dimensional gun and torpedo fight fought at close range with optically directed weapons. The result are far more realistic than why you see in the upper tiers.

    • @StuartKoehl
      @StuartKoehl 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Dispersion is utterly ridiculous and bears no comparison with real life. In reality, most naval gun systems were very accurate in azimuth, with most dispersion being in range. Thus, a main gun salvo would look like a ladder of splashes falling on the target bearing. This is one reason why (contrary to World of Warship logic), ships sought to cap the T: not only would all guns bear, against the enemy's forward battery, but, falling down the long axis of the target, the hit probability would be much higher.

    Kitakami - yes, it has a lot of torps, and would be fun/funny to play. As far as fighting against it, other torpedo boats that are more scary are Benham, Jinan, and arguably the Mino.. A kiting Benham stalling a push is devastating. Jinan can technically launch 40 torps w/ TRB, plus the torps have faster reload, much faster speed, much lower detection, and do more damage than Kitakami's IJN torps. Jinan also has 10 useable guns for starting fires and dev striking dd's, if you practice with them.
    If Kitakami was added back into the game it would be a very weak T10 because it has been power crept. It's hull is garbage, and can be dev struck by any BB and many cruisers. It's IJN torps are slow with a long spotting range. They don't hit as hard at T10. I don't thnk the Kitakami would have much of an effect at all, other than people losing their shit for a couple of weeks because of its reputation. The game has changed too much for this ship to compete.

    You were talking about missiles. Doable, but they would be 'dumb fire' (point and shoot) like the rockets from the aircraft, to stay inside the "WW1-WW2 era" theme that they have more or less managed to do so far. I hope. Guided missiles/rockets weren't a thing until some time after the end of WWII.

    • @StuartKoehl
      @StuartKoehl 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The guided missiles of World War II, like the German Fritz-X and Hs-293 were command guided via a manual data link. All were Manual Command to Line-of-Sight: after release, a flare in the tail of the weapon allowed the operator in the dropping aircraft to track the missile in flight. He then used a joystick to bring the weapon into line with the target ("gathering"), and then guided it into the target. Given good visibility, lack of fighter interference, and an absence of electronic countermeasures, these weapons had about a 25% hit probability. Falling from high altitude (20,000 feet+), they attained near sonic speeds, and, impacting a close to the vertical, they could easily penetrate deck armor with sufficient velocity to reach the engine room or magazines. A Fritz-X hit destroyed the Italian battleship Roma, when it penetrated all the way to a magazine. Another one hit the Brooklyn-Class cruiser Savannah at Salerno. It impacted the roof of C Turret, penetrated into the magazine, and exploded. The turret and barbette were gutted (everybody in them was killed), but the ship survived because the explosion blew out the bottom of the ship and flooded the magazine before it could completely detonate.
      The advent of guided missiles changed U.S. Navy thinking about air defense, and together with the advent of the Kamikaze (think of it as a manned anti-ship missile), led to the development of shipboard surface-to-air missiles.

    • @StuartKoehl
      @StuartKoehl 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Those "Un-spun Projectile" launchers in real life were unguided rockets fired in front of attacking torpedo bombers; each projectile deployed a cable with two explosive charges slung beneath a parachute. In theory, the plane would fly into the barrage of parachute cables, which would then pull the explosive charges up into the airplane. There is no record of them ever having killed anything.
      Rocket propelled depth charges were (and are) a real thing. In World War II, the U.S. had Hedgehog and Mousetrap, the British had Squid (and the postwar Limbo). The Soviet Navy developed a whole range of rocket-propelled ASW mortars in the RBU (Reaktivno-Bombovaja Ustanovka) series, which is still in use today. In shallow waters like the Baltic and Black Seas, they can be more effective than ASW torpedoes, which have a tendency to latch onto bottom features like rocks.

    modern maritime warfare is so vastly different, it would be next to impossible to implement that with the actual Tier compression of 2.
    There is only so much you can do to defend againt missles and implement all the other aspects.
    Missles - Point defence - basically non existent armor schemes - guns beeing not the main feature anymore. Today its clicking points on a radar/sonar and defend against fast approaching points so you dont get blown up. I bet they thought about it but have no idea how to implement this stuff into gameplay that sticks with poeple. Not that they really good at it atm...
