The youth would spent one year in sawa to complete the final of high school as well as get trained in Eritrean military doctrine, vocational training also learn to be responsible and productive members of society. The cadets would write the high school leaving national exam in sawa and those that earned the required passing grade will be accepted into the colleges while those with lower grade will be given the option to either challenge the exam on the coming year or enroll into the vocational school situated in sawa.
