I'm a native speaker of English, so I got all of these correct, and most of them almost immediately, so no surprise there. However, Hadar speaks with a New York accent, and I come from Detroit, in the Midwest, so I had a bit of trouble with "out of the office", because she actually uses a different vowel in "out", which sounds to me like "at". Point is, even native speakers can still have a bit of trouble with an exercise like this, so foreign students of the language should not feel bad about missing a few of these. English not only has these strange prosodic patterns, but the vowels often shift a lot from one region to the next.
I failed when I first did the quiz, I just figured out the last one! I found this exercise very difficult, rather confusing, for those of us who are more familiar with IPA. Once you see this video and get used to the letters and the way to combine them for expressing the sounds, you´re able to understand more easily.
Thank you so much for this, I've been looking for a video like this for years. Definitely you're the best teacher for non native speakers. Do more content like this, please.
You really got me with that "chr". Even in a million years I could have image that when a T comes before a R in the beginning of a word it turns into a "chr" sound. This is absolutely amazing. You're such a didactic teacher!
English is my native language, but I love watching your videos because they get me to think aspects of the language that I've just unconsciously accepted as givens. Wuddaya tawkunna boud? (What are you talking about?)
I always heard people speaking like this, but I've never tried to analyse the sentences in this way, it's easier to training my mind, excellent. Thank you 😃🤩
This is very good, I really enjoyed it. I’d love to have seen you teach about where this accent is from though, and how there are so many places that speak primarily English, but still can hardly understand each other sometimes!
As a native english speaker, I love listening to these types of videos and getting them all wrong because my accent makes me pronounce them differently lol specifically, "out of the office" i would say TOTALLY differently
It's not usual deal for my brain, and he is against. But near to end of this video i have fet my self better and easier. I understand that it needs for me and i think i just must to catch it.
Here I am again! In this opportunity to thank you because, finally, I can understand the slogan EA SPORTS IT'S IN THE GAME. It broke my head before watching this video and now It makes sense to me. Blessings.
I watch a lot of British programs on television, but I usually have to have the closed captioning on so that I can understand what they are saying. Do the British need to do the same when they watch American programs?
Hello.Thank you mis hadar for teaching english intonation and other factors.im interested in to used correct intonation, correct fluency, could you eleborate this part of languge for me.
Hello. Thanks a lot for your amazingly superb tutorials. Could you please help me with th sound. Different people pronounce th sound differently. I am confused as to which one is correct?
The best advice I ever got on learning language? Empty your cup. Meaning never assume something in English or any other non-native language will sound similar to the way your native language sounds. Speaking a new language is taking a step out of your comfort zone. No struggle = no reward.
It’s like in phrase: „Annie are you ok” in Michael Jackson’s song Smooth Criminal, which sounds: „Any cat you walking”. I must have read lyrics, because I didn’t understand it at all.
i only have that problem in movies and tv shows, i never had a problem with youtube videos or real people (sometimes is hard through phone quality but not much) i wanted to know why e.e i guess is the accents..?
Hadar, I need to know Which type of letters(u said In ur video)....we read n write to evolve reading capability....... If I've a traditional indigenous...... TONGUE.....!!!!!
Joe Joe You can google the lyrics of many songs, then you can read them while you listen to the music. I'm a native English speaker and also ESL teacher and I still have to do that with some English songs too!
Hey, do you offer private classes? I'm trying to accomplish what you've already accomplished. I've been working on my American accent and was wondering whether you could provide any tips.
Foreigners specially of US and European are very fast in speaking English they don't want to waste their time in speaking something because they want to use their time for other important jobs. The only problem is fast delivery of speech as to get over our brain and unable to understand them.
Well for a moment I felt like I'm reciting a spell and I was anticipating a Jinn might pop up xD Actual when I tripping me up when I speak with native speakers is when they use some terminologies or metaphors or something related to their culture or they have an accent I'm not familiar with but I'm okay if they speak fast. æz ˈjuʒəwəl ju ɑr ˈrɑkɪŋ Hadar aɪ laɪkt ɪt
Piedad Loren Serrano it’s either some advice or a piece of advice because advice is a non-countable noun. You can’t divide advice into pieces. Hope this helps.

Yes, I agree with you teacher. With everything mentioned by you.

I´m trying to be an English transcriptionist, but it is difficult, I get 90% of the text but the other 10% is really difficult to get.
It’s like in phrase: „Annie are you ok” in Michael Jackson’s song Smooth Criminal, which sounds: „Any cat you walking”. I must have read lyrics, because I didn’t understand it at all.
Don't worry, nobody (except native speakers) understnad songs. :-D
I didn’t understand that part about it was pronounced as (twa zuh) is it always like that ?
