My point is that the SpinDash is essentially a more powerful version of the boost and it'd make everything way easier than it already was before. For example I'd say most Chaos Island platforming challenges are easily skipped with it.

The fact that squid can take a hit from Super Sonic makes me think at some point in one of the titan fights (probably Knight) the player had to chase down a squid as Super Sonic.

Yeah that’s one of the things I never understood on why it didn’t feel like Super Sonic. One of my headcanons for that is it might not have been able to mod into the open-world aspect since every time you transform. It’s via a cutscene rather than in gameplay.
That’s just how I see it tbh
