Thanks for caution to everyone who is planning on pushing their trees. My wife lost her uncle about 8 years ago to a tree falling on him after he was bumping with tractor. No roof cage was on tractor!!

You did a fine job on those awesome white oaks. That could be some prime stave bolt material. But I think the stave mills take logs now rather than bolts....maybe(?)
Back in the early 1960's my dad and I had some huge trees like that. I made bolts for 3 months in the summer before my senior high school year. Best job I ever had....and extremely lucrative! I was making $1.25 per face ft of the split bolts (each bolt was 39" long) but only the first 15'-20' of the tree was 'good wood'. Most 'working' people in that era were making $1.50-$2.00/hr. and gas was $.23-$.25/gal....(about a $1.00-$1.50 a day was spent per family for gas....we didn't go anywhere...lol).
I could only swing that splitting maul 6-7 hrs daily and I was worn down to nothing. We usually cut 2-3 trees a day each...80-95 bolts total for both of us. We cut and split 4 days and hand loaded, hauled and hand unloaded the 5th day (3.5hrs per week was trucking). Usually our total income was about $520.00-$550.00 per week for 35-38 hrs of work by each guy ...and one old 1300lb grey horse...lol.
Aaahhh, the good old days, bring 'em back!!!
Good work as always. Looks like several good logs with the exception of the hollow one and the one with the bad spot. Hard to beat white oak for many uses.

That white oak will make some great boards it’s getting hard to find around here
That yard is similar to mine before 19 trees were lost to a down burst in 2020. Amazingly, no tree hit the house or the garage. All of the downed trees went the same direction.

I'd love some feedback, on the following thoughts:
As I consider getting an MS400, I'm reading that the bar oiler barely handles the recommended 25" bar.
To run longer than 25" bars, people are swapping the stock oiler - for the high output oiler for bigger Stihl saws.
On some Stihl saws, there is a pin that restricts the adjustment screw of the oiler; people just drive the pin into the housing - to get more adjustment.

On any saw, always turn the oiler wide open. The saw is designed to run out of gas before oil even with oiler wide open. On the stihls that have the pin to limit u from turning wide open, take that knock that pin in and then turn it rest of way and ur good to go. The saw puts plenty of oil out for longer bars.
@@cotontop3 Great advice, I'll open my oilers - just to be sure.
I recently had low oil flow, from a sawdust-plugged bar. Perhaps wide-open, might have prevented that.
I've also read, that some new Stihl bars have reduced size oil holes - so people drill them out for better flow.

When I see such chippers I wonder why it does not control the feed so revs stay somewhat constant. Could it be that for example for a big tree and slow feed to keep revs constant, the tree would just turn into powder?
Im running the EXJ on my 400 right now. I think I like it just a little better than the EXL.
The j is square ground.
@cotontop3 actually the EXJ is the skip tooth version of the EXL

I've got a question my dad logged out on the west coast, and they cut their notches in the stump and not the tree I was wandering what's the difference between the two.
Not a 100% sure but I'm figuring because he's cutting them so close to the ground. That's why he's notching them like he is.
