Nickelback has released its 10th studio album, Get Rollin'. To mark the occasion, lead singer Chad Kroeger and guitarist Ryan Peake sat down with Tom Power to talk about the band's induction into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame, the people who backed them from day one and the song that launched a thousand memes: Photograph.

Yeh, it seemed if you sang rock songs and then they turn out to sell millions and be popular with radio listeners….. you get hated on and accused of being a sellout. Other bands went thru it too…… Journey w Steve is a prime example!!! They gave Creed a hard time and I loved their songs! Biggest example would be when Sammy joined Van Halen!! Because their stuff w Sammy was so popular… they roasted them. I think Sammy and Eddie created magic 😎 ❤

They're not "cool dudes". At least Chad isn't. Their a toxic mess of doing whatever they need to do to stay relevant. In their case, all of the memes and jokes only aided in keeping them relevant. Bad press is good press type thing.
His voice is good man just love his perfect control on the grit
Fun fact: the grit is a malformation of his vocal chords, so he's basically putting NO EFFORT in singin like this.

I saw them open for Creed in 1999 here in Montreal. I think it was their first album. The blew the roof off of the place! They were a killer band before the schlock rock!

They were great. They just hand the multi personality disorder when it came to any band. They tried country, then they did mostly loud rock, now they’re trying to be an intense metal band. It just doesn’t work like that, so obviously people started clowning on them, and made them out to be extreme posers in any genre. Not that their music is bad at all, it’s just the feel and nature is too messed up. That’s just my personal idea
They’re a heavy band, who adopted the pop music formula. I still think it’s good music, but it’s not the heavy Nickelback from 1999.
They are formulaic. They don't deviate from the basics be it good or bad.

Nickelback is from Alberta, Canada. It’s pretty country out here.
The reason Nickleback works so well with country is because their producer for most of their albums (Joey Moi) moved to Nashville around 2010 and that's what kick-started the Bro country movement.
