I just got an XT-5 recently for rock climbing photography! Excited to try out low light stuff this weekend with the Perseids shower at night this weekend.
Hi John! I missed the LIVE since I was on my vacation but thank you for editing my photo and all your comments! My photo was the one which you looked up which lens it was and kept saying it looks like tilt-shift. To be honest, I didn’t even know what tilt-shift was, so I had to look it up! Haha. (I started a photography business just a month ago!) Anyways, that photo was from my VERY FIRST SESSION - I was so nervous I didn’t know what I was doing the whole time! I love how you edit it, and I loved getting your critique! Thanks for helping me to be a better photographer! 🤍
You truly have a great eye on color. I would really like to try your Natural feel preset . But unfortunately you have increased the price from 15 to 30 double up. Is there anyway to get a special discount, I really want to buy it.
Hi. Thank you so much for the compliments. Just for clarification, the preset has never been $15. It originally was $25. Currently at this time there isn't a discount but stay tuned to the channel and my Instagram page if there ever is a discount. Thank you.
yeah I hear the same thing when people talk about super "blurry" background. For me, esp. wedding photography, I'd like to retain the environment while giving it a bit of bokeh thing. But when photographing the group, I like to to at least f5.6 to f8. YMMV, many photographers are so obsessed with bokehish...
Hi John, I love your channel. I once saw your tips for wedding photography. Do you by any chance have it or sell all the sample of shots for wedding photography?
Hey John, big shout out for editing my pic, mine was the one with the couple with the great expression walking toward the camera. Huge compliment from you saying it caught your eye. Thanks for doing this. Congrats to the winners!
John, I found this video after the stream. I have been taking photos for a while. I put down the camera for a while and just picked it up again within the last year. I have never really done any post production on my photos so I am just now looking into learning how to "edit" photos after I load them on to my computer. Where would you suggest I start to learn this skill. I enjoy watching your videos about wedding photography and have seen a few of your edits but I am a total dunce when it comes to post production.
Hey, John how do you screen record ? I want to prerecord my screen then apply a voice over. Ive tried quick time, but it’s very memory hungry any suggestions?
For screen recordings I use Screenflow. Hands down one of the best apps for screen recording. It's Mac only but not only can you record but also edit in the app too. If you've ever seen any of my screen recorded tutorials with zoom ins and highlights that's how I'm doing it.
with the couple in the lake I would have used a tripod and taken 3 frames bracketed of just the background before they get in. gives you way more dynamic range to work with than just the RAW. it is a setup shot anyway, take an extra 2min to get all that extra detail for the edit.
Hey John! OMG! You make my day! Thank you so much for editing my photo. I shot photo number 15, with the f11 and the 35mm. By the way thank you very much for the dirty sensor notice, I will clean it. My work is nominally f2.8, but it was a day to take advantage of! Seriously, I thank you infinitely for taking the time! 01:24:10 ♥
Thank you for editing my photo and your compliments. Maybe you’ll go get that 16 1.4 ;) And congrats on becoming a dad again! My wife and I are at 3…so far lol.
Hi John, great video, but categorically the background in the raw image of the couple in the water was way better, the sky and landscape detail in the after edit the nice hue of the sun, and details of the landscape was opaque and washed out.. But awesome stuff... I'm a fan and a follower :)
Unfortunately, many beginners in photography are misled by photographer. Of course presets are trash. And I will tell you why. Light, focussing, skills and so on. I never used presets or actions for colouring but my situation when I shoot is different than yours. Like one day I wanted to test a top photographer and asked him/her to edit my pic. Was done, but was waaaay different than what he/she edits. Newbies should be veeeeery careful about this because might bring them down.

Do you have any advice for a starting Street photographer?

Plenty of people have said how showing the settings helped them in the past. We can't say it again and again.
I tried Lightroom Classic I can't get it to do anything but view pics. no way to edit anything?
You have to go into develop mode to start editing.
Thank you for editing my photo and your compliments. Maybe you’ll go get that 16 1.4 ;)
