Can you hear me?" he's talking to Ulkair, like he does in his betrayal. Avitus : "Kill them all! Let there be blood!" when he betrays, he has abandoned all and consumes himself in war to hide his past Tarkus: "None other will do. It must be mine. Then we can fight back. It will be mine." Talking about the tainted bolter and how he plans to set things right with it. Jonah : "get out. get out. get out!" addressing the daemon that takes over his body.
+Phoenix Fire He's the first one. "He leads us around in circles! Why does he command?" It refers to Indrick Boreale of the Kaurava campaign. It could of course be implied to display his frustration with your command as well.
Jonah has the most "noble" betrayl, even when the deamon possess him, he still fight his psychic energy while the bloodraven kill him. And the deamon ket you know that he was terribly hurt from his fight with the hive mind, his spirit was scramble but he still served the chapter, without letting any sign of his weakness. I'm sure he was approoving his death while going into the warp,

While Cyrus, Martellus, Tarkus and Jonah show no signs of their corruption risks here in Chaos Rising ten years later as of Retribution, Avitus is confirmed dead as the traitor, while the Force Commander is absent. Most likely he's missing due to the neutral ending sending him on a Crusade of Absolution... however. One other is missing as well... Thaddeus. I think he went with Force Commander Hairgel.
Not really. In Retribution we play as the Honor Guard led by Captain Diomedes. Logically Aramus (Force Commander) was promoted to lead 4th Company as its Captain, while Angelos remained the Captain of 3rd. Thaddeus and Thule joined Aramus, Tarkus became Ancient out of shame, Cyrus and Martellus were agents of Gabriel Angelos at the side of Diomedes, Jonah remained as an advisor to Angelos.

@Papadragon18 you get one for the Bloody Hand mission (the Avatar of Khaine), a corrupting one from the Legis Uprising mission (if you destroy the Black Reliquiary), plus you can bring three from the base game that's five, or four, if you do not count/get the corrupting one
Now THIS is an awesome story. Sure Retribution allows for six races in the campaign, but that takes away story like this, since the missions are pretty much identical, albeit with different approaches and dialogue, but that's pretty much it.
I really like this mission. This is the first time Ive really seen how the warp effects men. But on another note, the aurora of this mission inside the ship, with the mystery going on it seems, makes this a creepy mission. I love it.
my personal theory is that he was taunted and tricked into an alliance by Ulkair who invaded his mind because of Thaddeus's despair on Typhon unable to save anyone. Here Ulkair merely torturing him with what Thaddeus has done.
@drzoidburgrocks Give the squad corrupted items to use. Do corruption mission objectives. Leaving some squads behind on certain missions also give corruption.
It's a really nice detail, but it simply serves to consfuse people, and makes any one of them the possible canonical traitor. Now, Avitus, being the canonical traitor, obviously is. However, with this it could be plaussible that they all became slightly corrupted, and as such the "Good" ending seems to be the most plausible instead of the full purity or neutral ending.
Wait a minute, I'm just thinking about this now but, Tyranids, apart from Geenstealers would be useless in their role as spies otherwise, have no means of sustaining themselves, so if they got stuck on a Space Hulk they should starve, unless I suppose something happened like the daemons in the warp kept them alive for their amusement, but that's unlikely because tyranids have no souls and can't be corrupted.
A space hulk is a warp-fused mass of hundreds of ships, stations, asteroids and debris that was either floating in the warp or go absorbed by a warpstorm. Either pieces or whole ships. Some hulks are the size of a planet. Some of these house tyranids. When inside the warp tyranids go into hibernation. Upon exiting they wake up and enjoy a feast. Also, tyranid gestation pools. Bunch of gaunts go in, a carnifex evolved to live in the hulk comes out. Or what have you. There are probably tyranid

So the comments the squad make all hint at them being the traitor. Do they all say it in the same mission? Clearly only one of them can be a true hint within the same playthrough.
Both Avitus and Tarkus began blathering during my playthrough since both of them have 2 and 1 corruption while I am playing this map. Its actually... interesting to see it happen. I mean it'll be nice addition to more games where corruption and evil can worm its way in your party.😊
Ha Ha I think Cyrus recalls no Lucanus because half the chapter got wiped out during that campaign; there was too many names to remember. Must've been like 500 marines killed in action during Boraeles attempt to open a theme park (Better known as the Boraeleum) lol :D

Boreale was deliberately given a command that he was completely out of his depth for. More competent and qualified Captains like Diomedes, Angelos, and Thule were kept out of it by Kyras because he knew that they would succeed. Angelos would definitely have questioned Kyras' choice, and has such he was sent on a far away assignment. Thule was disillusioned following the Kronus Campaign, and Diomedes would hardly question anything that Kyras would order, since he didn't even do so when Kyras ordered the Blood Ravens to retreat from the Aurelian sub-sector, their own sub-sector, he went ahead and executed the order without any hesitation and only FC Aramus and Tarkus capturing him and then talking sense into him made him see proper logic.
You know, this part relies heavily on the particular chapter traits. Of course, some Ultramarines fellows would follow orders to the letter, but guys like Flesh Tearers or Space Wolves are given some more freedom. And while the same couldnt be said about Blood Ravens, they are curious about everything, especially their history, beyond any reasonable measure.
