Colorization of classic silent screen era or pre-code pictures sometimes seems to be a sort of crime. It's often made me wonder: What would the producers of the picture think, so very many decades later, if they were alive right now? (And I have to think they
they would be appalled!) On the other hand, it depends on the film's subject-matter. With adventures, like this one, or a fantasy,
such as the 1915 adaption of Alice In Wonderland, colorization actually seems to be very appropriate.

I use the close captioning for my ESL students but they are not very accurate. I would fix them free of charge if I had access to do so. I have watched this at least 25 times so I think I know the story pretty well!

Many of these old movies have the wrong soundtrack ...a single violin or piano, cello or such would be more fitting & not so LOUD! 🎻🎻🎹🎹🎻🎻🎹🎹🎻🎻
So different from the original short story. I enjoyed the short story much more than this movie.

Why did Zaroff randomly tell Ivan to smile...especially the first time in a language Ivan doesn't speak? Also, look at 38:38. What about swimming to one of those little islands, so that you're specifically off Zaroff's? Would that keep the quarry safe from the armed hunter?

I think I liked it better in black and white. Don't get me wrong the quality is good in this version, but it just feels more suspenseful when it's in black and white.
