So much going on in this song, I can't believe I haven't heard it. It's got some BeeGees vibes, real disco funk. Modern twists too, some of the sound effects remind me of Scissor Sisters, I'm sure they took inspiration from George. There's a smoothness to it like MJs 90s R&B, and obviously the biggest component, George.
This song is completely his, but it pays ode to all the things that make an unforgettable synth-pop, funky, disco track.

This vid is pretty much the Land of Confusion music video but for the early 2000s (down to the guest contribution of an ongoing satirical TV series from the UK, the scalding commentary of the global situation, and a US president as a frontman). There really little difference in the general tone, but it had the misfortune of being released in 2002 during the emotional highs of the WoT, an uphill battle.
Had it come out 2-3 years later when reality set in, it could had been better remembered.

Another example of George's bravery. This song was labelled as career suicide when he released it, with practically ALL the main stream media castigating him and in many cases actually questioning his sanity. Fast forward to present day and who has been proved right....? A brave principled guy as well as an all time great artist and singer. For me he was the only voice who was brave enough to say what was really going on and what was in my head was in others. For the first time I didn't feel i was the only sane one in the asylum. To do it with such humour and class is typical of the late great George Michael. He had something to say and had the balls to make his voice and mine heard for the first time.

I watched this video a couple of times when GM died then it disappeared. Very glad to find that it suddenly showed up again.
Love the fact that he always had the ability to laugh at himself. As usual, both ahead of his time and prescient. In various interviews, he spoke on why he was against the Iraq war. A man of great courage and integrity, even when most of the media and many people denigrated him at the time.
Brave, iconoclastic, brilliant songwriter and singer. A true artist and a man of deep humanity. The world sorely needs your presence and talent in these trying times.

To the best of my knowledge, only two people can say they've done that. Of course, George Michael and the team behind 2DTV for making this music video, and then there's Phil Collins who reached out to Spitting Image to use their puppets for the video for the Genesis song 'Land of Confusion'. If I'm not mistaken there is some crossover between the Spitting Image and 2DTV teams, as some 2DTV cast and crew worked on Spitting Image prior to that.
