  • Hello everyone! The Englund Gambit is an opening feared and heavily played at beginner-intermediate level. Despite the fact it is completely lost objectively, almost nobody actually knows how to beat it!. To combat this, I will teach exactly how to beat the Englund Gambit.

    Since there are allot of folks that know these traps. As black, I tend to play the Englund gambit: Rosen trap, since that one isn't as well known.

    Nice video :-) BTW: if at 8:25 Ke8, it's mate in 5, provided white takes the c7 pawn with his or her d knight ;-)

    I've had great success (100%) against 1000-rated players with 1. d4 e5 2. d5, decline by pushing, and shutting down 2. ...Nc6. No idea if this is sound, but it has always worked. I think they don't know what to do with 2. d5. Everyone seems to expect 2. dxe5. I believe the "official" decline is 2. e3. Good video, thanks.

    Can't black just go ba5? And if we do bxe5, then black goes qxe5, forking the king and the knight?

    • @Volclus
      @Volclus  ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Then Rb5! Attack the bishop and force them to make a decision, and if they drop back to b6 then we sacrifice the rook, then play Nc7+ forking and completely winning

      @@Volclus Hi, yeah but then if you take the rook with the h pawn, after the fork, black can get back the knight with the queen. But even though black is still underdeveloped and can't rock.. pretty bad position

    Stockfish says that at this point black should play kd8. And this move actually prevents the future white move qc3, as the queen will be guarding the square. Yea, black can't castle, but black's pieces are so active. What shall I play at this point?

    • @Volclus
      @Volclus  ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Many good options, but I would recommend a simple e4. Get your bishop out to c4, safely castle, and there is no immediate win here but black's positions is just miserable and over time they will crumble.
