You know what, agitation is really underrated. You can have such a good value from it in some games that just can slap them because they can become so useless, a survivor can't do anything and becomes a hindrance and from the killers perspective IT'S EEEEEEEEEEEEEEZZZZZZZZZZZZ.
He's unfortunately frustrating to play in a fun chainsaw heavy way. I find the optimal way to play him (playing safe and using chainsaw less) effective and very boring. They really need to buff his kit like they did with Plague

It's just boring, annoying and being insta downes across the map is just infuriating. Now Oni on the other hand. Literally a far better and much more fun killer to play as and against.

After going into cardiac arrest after seeing the changes they made to the add ons and the killers themselves, well long story short I now main huntress. Rest in peace Hillbilly gone but not forgotten
Imma be honest, people think of hard killers and think nurse and huntress. Which is fair, but i honestly think nurse is easier than billy. Huntress is debatable. Pretty equal.
The hardest thing about nurse is learning her, once you get comfortable with her blinks theres nothing hard about her. She completely ignores every rule of DBD chases. With huntress, the basics are really easy to pick up on (pallet 50/50's, learning the amount of time it takes to wind up to know if you can throw in time before they round a corner), but theres a lot of smaller less-applicable techs that take a ton of practice. Cross map shots, throwing uncharged shots over structures so it arc's over, flicks, throwing through holes in structures. If youre an aimbro you'll love learning her. But id say billy is the hardest killer to use after his nerf. His insta down is nice when you have them in a dead zone, but when theres strong loops hes basically an m1 killer, so you absolutely have to make the most out of bad loops with curves. But curves are the hardest thing to learn in the game, cause it not only requires a ton of fiddling with controls and sensitivity to find what allows you to get a mix of tight turn radius and good control, but you have to know how to slide off objects and what objects can and cant be slid off of. Not to mention the fact that his power is hard to control exactly when you use it, cause it isnt like bubba where you charge and then press a button to use, if you want to wait you have to 99% it. AND, you have to have to account for ALL of that, in the middle of a chase, where if you fuck up you give them a lot of free distance. AND YOU CAN OVERHEAT YOUR CHAINSAW FROM USING IT TOO MUCH IN A SHORT AMOUNT OF TIME. It pisses me off so much that literally everyone hated the billy change and bhvr just did it anyways, got negative feedback, and just didnt give a shit.
Hillbilly nerf was one of the reasons I bounced out from the game (and I was super dedicated to it for a long time). Fine, remove carboretor tuning gide, but all the other addons were fine... Current state is very not satisfying to me. I don't see a good reason to play him over Bubba now. I also kind of agree with overheating as a mean to prevent eternal 99 revved up hook camping, but it should only be a thing around actuall hooked survivor. Getting punished for trying to use your power in chase (which already is very punishing with getting a very long cd whenever you use chainsaw (wall or air hit... even survivor hit. Only pallets are somewhat quick and this should be the base)). It makes me so sad than one of the most balanced and actually fun to go against killers got nerfed when survivor get more and more buffs. It's almost like devs only want to see killers like Nurse, Spirit, Huntress and Pyramidhead...
Yea… no clue why the overheat mechanic is a thing… and to be fair if they cared about feathering camping a hook bubba would have it too and he is way better at camping a hook. Though I will say I play double engravings billy (curve billy/skybilly), and I’m fine with insta saw not being a thing. Overall the overheat mechanic doesn’t really affect good billy players that much, the issue is it affects new billy players. I feel like the biggest issue for me is maps, some maps are just strait up unforgiving and practically unwinable unless the survivors royally mess up (The game, lerys, RPD, cowshed, where you are practically just an m1 killer most of the time.) I’d always run builds with no gen regression because I liked it that way (standard build was like BBQ, shadowborn, lethal, brutal/agitation.) But sense they added mmr, boons, and such games have just gotten worse. More map offerings, more BS to deal with and I had to put on corrupt just to feel like I could have a chance on a lot of games. They really need to fix the maps, and bring the strongest stuff and weaker stuff closer together. Like buff solo queue a bit (with like icons to kinda see what people are doing, fuck it give them base line BT) and adjust killers inside that. As it stands one game you can go against solos with meh builds and do really well then the next you get rolled by a 4 stack with map offerings. Same with killer too, you could go against a clown with a meme build one game and a Nurse with gen regression and insta downs the next. They need to bring the two extremes closer together, so then people don’t feel like there is nothing they can do if the other side is on the high extreme. And of course fix the maps BHVR, at leased for the time being let the killer have a map ban list so they aren’t a curve billy on lerys or RPD.
The only reason you'd play billy is because you like his play style these days. Other killers do his gimmicks better than he does if it's only instadowns pick bubba. oni is closer to old Billy than current Billy becuase of how hard he was nerfed.

Double engravings Billy still has better map traversal in most cases over oni and Bubba, yea sure if you are on the game oni will come out on top when he has his power. A good billy player will almost never overheat, however it is still bad because newer players will and it hurts them trying to learn the killer. I agree with them removing insta saw billy, that was busted and needed a fix. Though the overheat mechanic and other addon changes didn't need to happen. But does that make him an irrelevant killer? No not at all lmao, I think its more the game around him that really can screw him over. Maps, COH, ect. But thats honestly with almost every killer. Final point, skybilly is the coolest thing in the game.
