    But you have damaged the plastic wire cover because you were using pliers to lift it. You can see how the plastic is bent when you remove it and when you put it back.

    Tip: the hinge cover doesn't snap on the inner side, it snaps on the outer side, then you need to slide it sideways to lock it in. You can't just snap it in.

    Great video! I've taken apart a lot of computers, but always shy away from any Apple product. Your video gave me confidence that I can do this. Thanks for the clear, concise instructions!

    This still did not fix the loose hinge after tightening both sets of screws. I think the hinge itself is loose in mine :(

    This is good for hinge hardware that is loose, but does NOTHING to help if the friction affecting movement of lid/screen itself is insufficient to keep lid in proper position.

    Macbook Air 11 i7 medio 2015 is still the best laptop Apple ever made. Upgraded it of course with 2TB ssd. Everything has been working like a charm for some years but today I discovered the plastic hinge cover wasn't put back in its place properly. That\s where your video came in. Thanks a bunch!

    Congratulations to the video. My mac screen (Macbook Air early 2014 A1466) is loose and I'm looking for the hinge to replace it, I looked on the internet but I couldn't find it. Do you have a reference from where to buy it?

    This is fantastic! I just got mom a refurb so she could have a laptop in stroke rehab. The hinge is loose, but not enough at this point to mess with it. But when the time comes, I'll do this! THANKS!

    5:00 mounting back that black bar is harder than micro soldering ram slots. I had to remove internal side stoppers with a cutter in order to place it properly

    Prob the computer is done but somebody has an expensive Mac book pro computer and they didn’t take care of it by holding it with the screen dangling. The hinges got loose and they needed something behind to to keep it stable. One day, their screen started glitching as heck and would only keep stable if it were exactly 90 degrees. Is this fixable to bring to a tech place??? Please respond

    • @TMDDTM
      @TMDDTM  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, a tech store can fix this. Is sounds like the internal cable that connect the screen to the base has been compromised. They can attach a new cable is that is the root of the problem. The worst case is they will offer to replace the whole screen

      Since I do not know which MacBook Air you have... I have attached a link for you so you can find replacement screws. These screw should be the same for all MacBook Airs from 2010-2017.
      Just copy and past in the whole link in the address bar I pasted below.
      Let me know if this helps.

    you just made me unscrew a macbook air without any result. the only result that i've got is breaking the plastic cover and now i can't put it back. it doesn't fix the screen hinge issue at all. thanks, now i need to buy a new plastic and i must wait until i can use my macbook again. the hinge itself is loose and to reapair it you need to buy a new one.

    Hello thanks for this vid we followed all instruction but cover still floppy, can you suggest any other possible solutions? Could the actual hinge unit itself be loose and can we replace it? much thanks - cliffatcliffworksdotnet

    • @TMDDTM
      @TMDDTM  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Cliff, if it is still floppy, I suggest that you take it to a local apple fix it shop. Here is Arizona we have “You Break It We Fix Store” they can typically resolve the issue same day.
      Or you can take it to an Apple store or BestBuy and they can replace the hinges.
      Maybe the hinges are worn. Typically it is just loose screws but of the hinges themselves are stripped they may need to be replaced.

      @@TMDDTM Hi just saw your reply and thank you! here in Tokyo we don't have BestBuy Stores but do have Mac repair shops. Will try them. Apple won't touch older models.

      Great vid. Broke the hinge cover (that plastic is brittle), but replacement is $8. Hinge is slightly more stiff.
