Is... there anything to save? lmao. I never felt Endwalker was in bad spot, I've still enjoying it, and taking breaks time to time for other games etc. First time I'm hearing ''EW'' is bad.
The game has absolutely gotten stale, mostly due to the developer's inability to innovate and try new things. Game isn't dying or anything, but this has been a huge talking point during EW.
The discourse around FFXIV has soured somewhat with some of FFXIV community's more popular content creators have openly criticized the EW's endgame. However, this led to cottage industry of clickbait videos and over the top reactions proclaiming the "downfall" of FFXIV. This video's thumbnail is parodying this, I think. Personally, it's WAY too early to say FFXIV is experiencing it's downfall. EW, and FFXIV as a whole, has a number of issues that could potentially hurt FFXIV in the long run if not addressed, but I don't think the game is in the state where it needs saving.
@@tropicalrubi Game has been stale since Stormblood(HW was peak combat IMO before they started pruning/gutting everything) but the story was still great. The switchup in writers after Shadowbringers(LOVE SHADOWBRINGERS STORY) is what I think caused the most damage alongside a rather lackluster and unevolving battle system that caters around job balance and ease of use which leads to a lack of identity. Feel like Healers are the worst with 1 button rotations. I don't think the game is dying at all and Endwalker sold the most of any previous expansion but I think what's happening is boredom. Unles Dawntrail switches things up I don't think you'll see a lot of player retention. Mostly loyalists and casuals will stay. And the issue is really no midcore content to keep you invested. Viper has received mixed reception from intriguing to boring. It's intriguing as a Zidane Tribal/Thief job class but also doesn't do anything new and is a good indicator that the PvE combat style is still focused on burst damage which means 2 minute meta is likely here to stay and a lot of players absolutely LOATHE the 2 minute meta. I think they will stick to the formula they've had since 2.0. FFXIV is pretty much like Pokemon where it doesn't matter what they do. Everyone will buy it. So there's less incentive to put all their effort into it.

Especially if those people STARTED in ShB, they have not been part of the community for long enough to actually prove 'commitment' to the community and start spouting BS so they can get clicks on their videos.
The game does not need saving, it still is one of the most if not the most thriving MMO. The problem is that it has become stale as of late and the reason is FFXIV has no serious competence, not even WoW. As such, the devs don't feel the need to change the game's formula because it still works and prints money. Just because some youtubers are saying "awwww the game is dead yo" doesn't make it true. 😂😂
I feel its the same issue as WoW after Wrath of the Lich King. the long term players came in got invested in the Garlean story line and now its over and don't want to emotionally invest into a potentially 2-3 expansion story (if not another 10 year story). I do think Dawntrail will probably be self contained and set up a big bad for later though.

Have some one patch antagonists depending on how the story goes it could even be some of the scions and then band back together for a bigger threat. It is likely nothing but a potential clue is the new limited job. They said it would be added in the later half of the expansion.
Ffxiv is about 13 years old. They should just make a new game and leave a small team to update Ffxiv. They did this with FFXI and they still support that game. This game came out on PS3. We have PS5s now, 40 Series gpus etc.. This game looks like a mobile game now. I started playing Final Fantasy online in 2004.. Ffxiv was a step up in combat but a step back in gear sets, unique items, economy, etc. I think they can fix a couple things with a new game. I know the FFXIV warriors will say nothing is wrong, but if you like this version of the game, the next version will be better. Damn near every series gets better over time.
The funny thing is, in order to make certain dungeons playable for “duty support”, they had to completely change the uniqueness of a couple boss fights that added something different to the fight. Now all the bosses are practically the same besides different aoe mechanics. How brain dead do you have to make this game.
Outside of a few outliers, I'm not a fan of the changes they've had to make to the boss encounters. But, at the same time I understand they have to make encounters that they can script the NPC allies to handle. Duty Support is not something that's benefitted me personally, but I think it's overall a healthy feature for the game to have. Dungeons are mandatory for MSQ progression, so if certain players have to play at odd hours or are on a low-pop data center the queue times can be a serious roadblock. There are also players who have had bad experiences online and really aren't interested in grouping with strangers, and the promise of being able to fully enjoy the main story solo like any single-player Final Fantasy is appealing.

From revisits to dungeons, I know for sure some groups would pull the last boss without waiting for the first-timer's cutscene to end. Additionally, if I as dps end up with a single-pulling tank or cure/physick/benefic botting healer, I might as well skip the wait queue and just duty support, it's faster doing a 20-23 min dungeon with NPCs than doing a 15-18 min dungeon with players after a 10 min queue. Slightly different story if I'm a tank or healer on a dungeon revisit, that guarantees the prevention of either the single pulling tank or cure bot healer.

removing flight is a hot take conisdering you like Guild Wars 2s open world... as a result of GW2s flight the expansion story takes me less than 8 hours to clear as you skip all of the exploration and go straight to green star. I do not get the hate Endwalker got it introduced DC Travel which opened up the possibility for more social groups and raid groups to be formed. The Duty Support extension was a needed addition as I remember waiting long as times to continue the story on a DPS job when I was new. Being able to just find out what happens next in the story without relying on people being up at my weird time of 4am is pretty important and also important to have built out whenever they move to a new FF MMO in 10 or so years. EW had more put into it than people give credit.

I feel like the bored streamers/youtubers who are chasing the trend (not you) are like Meteion; ever stoking despair against the community; its the others that point out the blatant obvious lies, hypocrisy, apathy, hyperbolic comments that are the warriors of light. I don't think Dawntrail will save the game (Its the best it has ever been, lest we forget the fact that it sold out once during EW and was drastically well received to be put as a contender for goty despite having been released already as ARR) The game is incredibly healthy; but its weird seeing youtubers who were the most hype during/for endwalker, who suddenly change their tune completely a year or so after its out once they were done with it (Zepla as one example). The topic of burnout has been rampant and noone wants to admit that bordom is normal; its not bad that your favorite game cant appease you every waking second of your life (especially if your reach past 10k hours). Theres a limitation to what you can create in a span of time as game developers (making games takes a while. And even if they got more content it would be completed in the matter of days/weeks because this game is their life) People are being melodramatic; though some TH-camrs speak against these doomsayers by givng an actual list of statistics, and a breakdown of mechanics that help padd the lies with actual context (negating the doom saying). like Xenos and Pyro on the Lynx controversy. Zepla kicked this cascade off with her endwalker vid, (though I love her content so much and used to watch it all the time, this all started after the release of her vid.) Idk; The stigma this is passively building is wild; its nice to have some people who are conscious of that actually defend the game properly with evidence. Dismantle the chaos one point at a time. I saw somewere that your doing to be descussing this; I have no idea what stance you have (I think i have a little from the intro) but whatever you do, Lay out what you think and why with factual evidence and stats to back what you think.
