Some may criticize certain stylistic tendencies of his, but he remains an unquestionably great musician who has been humble and well-humored enough to entertain us, along with showing us what the bass is capable of in the right hands.
Yes I do agree Gary Karr is the best double bass should be a solo instrument people have been soloing a lot now and I fear it’s gonna be so common by the time I grow up I won’t be able to solo
Tbh the orchestration is not that good, bass part is fine, orchestration is too romantic for it to fit with the bass part which is supposed to imitate classical playing. In the 2nd movement at least.
How can you play the contra bass perfectly without any pitch or beat mistakes? I was moved by the sound of the contra bass. Gary Karr is a great man to me.🌺🤩😍
That third movement makes me want to learn this song. When he started playing the bass like it was a guitar....i just laughed at how unpredictable a bass and why does no one care for it.
Honestly I think these are great times for the double bass, just look at Andrés Martin, Rabbath and Simón Garcia works, they are sooooo good and showcases the virtuosity of the double bass
Ya, Eduoard Nanny. But he wrote it under Dragonetti's name so the name has stuck. He perpetrated the hoax that resulted in his greatest work being attributed to a long dead virtuoso bassist, ironic!
my god. in this comment section, all the comments are the same: "um asckshually, it was written by french composer Édouard Nanny". we know! It's not necessary to repeat every single time

In addition to being one of the most amazing musicians ever, Gary Karr is one of the most humble and unassuming people I have ever met.

Thanks
Thank you for this post, the double bass is an amazing solo instrument. It shines in it's own kind of light!
It's too bad that it was neglected as such for so long. This is a rare gem from the past.
+Paul Neener you guys sure know how harps feel..we've been in a similar situation (and the time it took to at least get into the orchestra!)
Yeah, we missed the harp, it adds a subtle flavor to the winds and strings.
Yes I do agree Gary Karr is the best double bass should be a solo instrument people have been soloing a lot now and I fear it’s gonna be so common by the time I grow up I won’t be able to solo
Thanks, Gary! You are magnificent!
French composer Édouard Nanny wrote a nice piece here!
Ah ah ah
Ayyyyyyyyy
Not his best work but it’s still pretty neat

Gary karr and his unmistakable sound
What beautiful music and the instrument and performance are great compliments.
Awesome music played by a legendary player!
A masterpiece by a lesser known, but great composer.
It was written by Eduard Nanny :D
@@Funmodescondidas *Edouard
The fact this is a musical "hoax" doesn't lessen the composition. As is the "Benda" grave it's simply marvelous music. And Karr nails it.
why is this a musical hoax?

God, that 2nd movement is damn beautiful. Especially during this fucking part right here: 9:44. Fucking shit, I love Gary Karr.

Jackson Briggs because often times and especially in most modern orchestral music we get boring and unheard parts

Hasn't it been long known that this is not by Dragonetti, but by a 20th century French bassist?

It’s attributed to Dragonetti, so it is called the “Dragonetti bass concerto”.

Hello. You can give the orchestra notes of this concert please
It is written on the first picture of this video.
Does somebody know from which piece this cadenza in the second movement comes?
the same one you are hearing.
