In Lebanon we drink it neat when raw meat, raw liver and some fatty stuff are served for Sunday breakfasts. However it is mostly topped with room temperature water (ratio 1:3) and an ice cube... to enjoy the plethora of food that is being served (known as mezzeh), prolong the “journey” and have a good nap afterwards.

best way to drink it is to add either half arak half water with a cube of ice; or one third arak and two thirds cold water and enjoy it.
