- 𝐅𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐚 𝐭𝐚' 𝐒𝐚𝐧𝐭' 𝐄𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐚/ Viva Santa Elena! il-festa t-tajba lil Karkarizi kollha! Birkirkara's main religious feast is that of St Helen at St. Helen's Basilica, which is celebrated on 18 August or on the first Sunday after that date. The main event of the celebration is a procession with a wooden statue carved by the Maltese master-sculptor Salvu Psaila.

Hi Steve I hope you are fine and that your feet are ok. I have just finished watching your video about st Helen s feast .lt brings me memories from my childhood days when we used to go to my grandparents who lived at birkirkara for the village festa and as always it was celebrated in the morning.l enjoy most hearing the music of the marches but l also liked watching the people who were so enthusiastic singing the traditional song to st Helen. The colour of the picture was very clear and l could feel as if I were there with you . Well done once more Steve . Take care until next time bye bye.❤❤❤❤😊😊❤😊

I would never have the opportunity to experience this festival there in Malta without your videos. I enjoy seeing what's happening all the way across the world in your town. Its been very hot this year all I am getting old !!
Another enjoyable video, thanks Steve. And I have only just realised, Malta doesn't seem to be afflicted with graffiti all over those beautiful buildings and walk ways. How anyone thinks it's ok to deface property is beyond me, so utterly selfish and criminal behaviour.

Hey Annie, are you from B'kara ? No idea why in the morning all I know that old days all festas were in the morning because they had no electricity,I know something about St Helens march is after the mass ?? The feast of St Helen in Birkirkara 2003 broke with tradition and was celebrated in the evening, But please Annie Tell me more
