It’s a pity there aren’t more views of this. What a wonderful and constructive exploration of tribalism. This is the medicine society needs.

I absolutely loved this episode! My favourite one so far, I've been working my way through them, I found out about your channel pretty late. The story about Tanya was scary and fascinating!! Thank God that school administrator went the extra mile and the truth was uncovered. I also enjoyed the stories about your dad and how you became curious about brains.

About empathy, if a baby is treated empathically as the brain is developing, and if it is cared for with love and positive attention, it will develop empathy. The opposite holds true. An example would be the Roumanian Orphans, never even held and treated like machines - left alone and never spoken to, left in their excrement for days. These infants grew up unable to relate to others and brain scans showed that the empathy areas were missing. I suggest reading about them in the Atlantic magazine.

Aphantasia if I recall was in "Never ending Story". I loved that movie and often recall much from it. Thank you for this upload. I am adequately fascinated.

I'm on the hyperfantasia side. It's awesome for my writing. All I do is close my eyes, watch the proposed scene play like a movie with surround sound, smell-o-vision, and even touch, in my head. Then I describe it.

Sense of self sets the stage for our perceptions. Nurture (or lack of) and birth order is foundational in creating sense of self

Life has given an obvious understandings as to our internal differences. All one has to do, is look at your thumbprint. One of a kind amongst 8 billion people. Not even twins share the same thumbprint.

Mainly because most people use symbols to communicate instead of words. You are guilty yourself Sir. "Far Left" and "Far Right". Symbols are used to manipulate, not communicate.

    Dear Dr. Eagleman
In a world where you have 7 thousand subscribers with 14 comments while Mr. Beast has millions, I can't be as hopeful as your are (See how I demonized Mr. Beast in order to be your ingroup? 😁😁😁😁)
