      @@nick-3808 Here's another trick nobody really mentions... If the sun is out, wait until the sun is shining on 1 side of the car and you'll notice the other side isn't facing the sun. Be quicker on the side where the sun is shining and the other side you can be a little more slow since it's not in direct sun light.

      This would work great on a car that's well maintained with possibly a coating on the wheels and paint that also has a longer lasting tire protectant. Nasty wheels and tires can take 5 minutes a piece. I would definitely change out wash towels or flip to a new side on each panel but to be fair in all of this if you only want efficiency then quality will always suffer but 90% of folk don't care about water drips or a keeping a perfectly clean vehicle all the time. I wish I didn't care lol. Ignorance isn't bliss but it is alot less work and stress in these instances.

      Dam it's takes me an average 10minute per wheel

    • @dustin3700
      @dustin3700 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@bacchasmichael2017 if the wheels are cool I don't pre spray with water I usually use bilt hamber @ 10:1
      apply wait 1-2 minutes and agitate with a vary soft interior brush on the wheels and a green body brush for tires let sit for 1 minute and rinse, if the wheels have brown staining after that and are factory cleared I use acid 4:1 appy on brush wipe in and rinse. If the wheels are trashed or are steelies I just apply cleaner and agitate with green body brush on wheels and tires wait a minute and rinse. Some tires can require multiple rounds of cleaning and some are permanently stained and have tried everything from mckees tire rejuvenator, multiple degreesers to acid to vary stiff brushes and iron removers even acetone and some just can't be saved but it's rare. Black gloss wheels usually get a presoak and rinse before brushing unless they are already scratched to death which most are.

    lol that's the exact process I use. no need to waste time when you have great chemicals and tools to use them to your advantage and speed up the processes. Great demonstration. I don't even use buckets anymore. I have a wash mit at ech corner of the car and do a quarter at a time spraying ringing them out then spraying with the power washer... wheels just foam all the wheels them go around with your wand, woolie and tire brush. why roll a bucket around to do anything. don't even need buckets of water at all. some clients question your work though since you can finish quickly so they have to see the result and then apologize.
    every new detailer.. don't worry you only get faster and more efficient as you go and find out tips n tricks.

    Your channel is so great. I am a 63-year-old nurse that works really long hours. I live on a dirt road. My car gets so dirty I got scolded at the car wash... even though I prewashed it with a hose. Looks like I'm going to have to do it myself. Picking up my Greenworks 3000 2 gph electric pressure washer tomorrow and using your tips. I think I can do this in less time than waiting at the carwash. It will be much cheaper and no fussing because i have a little dirt under my fender. Goodbye to Tidal Wave! (And good riddance!) Goo Goo car wash didn't complain but just tore my back windshield washer off twice. And I worry about how driving on that thing affects my car. Thank you so much!

    A 1st-time viewer here (now a subscriber) , a longtime detailer (35+ years). A lot has changed during my time and I am trying to get more modernized. I am taking your advice on a foam canon- thanks. 2 questions( for now) . 1) I have always wanted a mobile car wash truck - does yours have water onboard or do you plug into your location's water supply? 2) How much $ do you charge for a basic hand wash like the one you so gracefully performed in this video?

  • @thehonestman26
    @thehonestman26 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +14

    I want to clean my car now. lol. I do a very similar wash when on a time crunch except for one step: Instead of a pre-rinse, I foam it, rinse it, then foam it again to start the contact wash. It doesn't take much more time than a pre-rinse would, and I feel more comfortable removing a lot of the abrasives before taking my towel to the car. I also saw a test of someone foaming a car in two halves, one side without a pre-rinse and the other side with a pre-rinse. It showed the side without the pre-rinse left the paint cleaner after rinsing the foam off. The thought was that the water from the pre-rinse made it more difficult for the foam to attach to the dirt, while without the pre-rinse, the foam quickly encapsulated the dirt and rinsed off cleaner. I guess you could call this a pre-rinse as well but with foam before water. Just wanted to throw that out there. Thought it was pretty interesting.

    • @imjoshv
      @imjoshv  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yea I agree with that. I don’t always prefoam, dwell, and rinse… I do if the car is extra dirty and want it to break down the dirt more. With this car it wasn’t too bad so I don’t have any concerns with that. And as a mobile Detailer I have limited resources with me so I need to use the water as efficiently as possible.

    Man. I’ve been watching a ton of videos from you and from other pros. I grew up in a family of detail enthusiast and have found that most of the practices I use line up with professional methods. What I DO NOT understand is how you foamed that car and proceeded to wash the entire thing before rinsing. If I did those exact steps the soap would be drying before I finished my first panel. I sure wish I could get to the bottom of this as I am starting to do some weekend warrior detailing and figuring that out would save me A TON of time.

    This strategy is only applicable to either new cars or clients who maintain there cars well. The slow down in any detail usually has to do with the condition of the vehicle. You couldn’t do this on a 2008 Chevy Tahoe that’s been thru a shit storm. Rims will have to be thoroughly cleaned and in my experience- requires 1-2 passes of agitation to get adequate results.
    On poorly maintained paint- I usually go in with an APC diluted 10-1 pre wash to help make my life easier when it comes to the contact wash.
    Anybody can wash a new car or well maintained car since it requires to little no agitation.
    Try this on a an older unprotected vehicle and show the results.

Rinse off that first foam coat after 5 minutes to wash away that surface the foam breaks up so it doesn’t act as an abrasive during the hand wash step. After rinse, apply a 2nd foam coat, THEN HAND WASH….

    Hey, quick question, I have an electric PW with a working pressure of 1595 PSI(maximum rated 1885 PSI) and 1.6 GPM(maximum rated 1.8 GPM), do you think that the 1.1 orifice on a foam gun would stall/pulsate the PW ?

    What do you recommend when a vehicle of any kind is covered in bugs your foam cannon and hand wash combined doesn’t get them all off i typically get the bugs off with CG bug and tar remover first then do what you did for the 10 min wash ??

    I do 5 min washes. No wheel focus. I use a big soft brush on the foam and a Makita leaf blower to dry... Not as good towels but does it for me

    What do you use for aluminum alloy wheels? I noticed the prewash spray you used on the wheels you recommended not to use on alloy wheels.

    What noozles are you using for the rinse? I just purchased the Greenworks 3000 psi. Are there specific noozles I should use to ensure I don't have too much pressure?

    Thank you for the video. So, when drying the car, using a clean dedicated drying towel , you don't need to use a drying aid for lubrication when drying? I've used quick detailers before, spraying on the panel as I dry, but I've always wondered if this is necessary? ( my car is ceramic coated ).

    Do you go back and take extra time to clean off bugs/tar that are not removed during the contact wash? The Mercedes looked clean and probably garage kept. What about the minivan that sits outside and gets trashed?

    Josh- The editing of your videos has definitely jumped up a few notches, music was great. In stead of hand drying, have you ever considered a high-powered battery leaf blower?

    I don't detail but would a small electric leaf blower help to get rid of most of the water and if so what are your thoughts on using one for drying?

    My brother has a hand car wash and I am constantly trying to get him to be more efficient with his customer's time. If he could do an outside only wash in 10 to 12 minutes he could make so much more money. 🤦🏾‍♀️ Also Im so glad you used that particular vehicle for demonstration. Its the same one I have so he knows exactly how long it takes him and his employees to do it...it is not 10 minutes.
