    Thank you for putting much needed attention on my favorite singer,
    and the BEST singer to ever grace a stage, studio, or any other forum.
    I say much needed, because I can't tell how many reactions I have watched where the reactor has never heard of Linda Ronstadt ... and that is just TRAGIC !

    Thanks to all of the teachers for their appreciative comments in their analysis of the beautiful voice of Linda Ronstadt. Like your friend, she’s been my number one since I was about 12 years old. She taught me how to sing , her and a few others. And she touched my heart. What you said at the end was beautiful and profound, and it brought me tears; tears that I used to have when I heard some of her records, the lonely sad songs that she would sing. Very touching and appreciated. thank you so much.

    Can't tell you how profoundly happy your video made me. It just came up on my Google queue because I'm plugged into anything Ronstadt. Your analysis of her voice and her importance as an artist was just spot on. You picked some of my favorite videos to make your points. The depth of respect you demonstrated for her body of work and her resilience as a human being moved me deeply.
    For those of you who are grateful to Ms. Ronstadt for her enormous contributions to not only the music world, but for all the personal pleasure and comfort she has given to you over the years, I can think of no better way to repay her than to support "Los Cenzontles." She has been involved with this group since the 90's and recently made a documentary featuring them called "Linda and the Mockingbirds." The footage of Ms. Ronstadt watching the young people in this group sing and dance to traditional Mexican music can be seen in the 2019 documentary based on her musical memoir "Linda Ronstadt: the Sound of My Voice."
    Thank you again for featuring Ms. Ronstadt in this episode. All she ever wanted to do in her life was to sing and get ever better at doing it. We have all been the better for her having accomplished that goal. Having seen this video, I'm confident that the next generation of singers is in excellent hands.

    Linda Ronstadt obviously has a beautiful and versatile voice that is also recognizably hers. I do want to make one small point, based on a quote I read from her. LR said in her earlier career she had a tendency to "yell" a lot instead of singing with genuine feeling and control. She was being very critical of her performances in that earlier period, pointing out how she tried to improve as she progressed in the business. I can understand what she means. "You're No Good" is an example, depending on which version you listen to, of yelling instead of singing with passion and still vocal control. As vocal coaches, do you know what she was getting at?

    • @NewYorkVocalCoaching
      @NewYorkVocalCoaching  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Surfwriter- Yes indeed! Linda would do "register dragging" and drag her chest voice up to higher ranges. This can lead to "shouty" singing. It's not necessarily bad, it's a choice some singers make and it's a habit other singers have. Ultimately we want variety and registration options to keep the voice healthy. Sounds like Linda was simply working toward developing more registrational control in the middle voice area! When we have more vocal control, we also have more control over how we express and emote. -NYVC

    • @surfwriter8461
      @surfwriter8461 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@NewYorkVocalCoaching Thanks for that response with some explanation of what LR was referring to. She seemed to feel, in retrospect, that the form of singing she describing as more like "yelling" was a poor strategy, that it was not her at her best and that she was depriving the song of the vocal quality it deserved when she sang that way. I suspect that she felt the rock genre she was highlighting at the time was influencing her to sing that way to satisfy the audience or prove her vocal chops in a way that was detrimental to performing with her best voice, and she got caught up in a bad habit.

    • @deadandburied7626
      @deadandburied7626 ปีที่แล้ว

      In some songs Linda yells/belts too much. If not for its iconic status, "You're No Good" is almost a throwaway song on the lovely "Heart Like A Wheel" album.

    Thank you for spotlighting Linda. My heroine. Truly one of my inspirations as a young singer studying classical voice in my teens in the 70s. I really want to sing pop music, but no one taught that than. I’m much, much older now and back to voice lessons because I want to sing contemporary music better. Linda is the perfect example of how it can be done. Thank you also for your excellent lessons. I’m burning through them reacquainting myself with things I learned decades ago and brand new information about how to sing in a different genre. So happy I found you.

    Muito bom, bem legal, ela é uma grande cantora, mas note que a voz funciona como um instrumento que se bem tocado executa se e se faz chegar a perfeição.
    Mas existem outras questões, um vasto conhecimento sobre música ajuda muito a entender o funcionamento de todos os mecanismos musicais, mas para se chegar tão longe é preciso uma longa estrada uma longa caminhada.
    Além de saber cantar as notas é preciso uma outra questão, buscar dentro de si um personagem que irá personificar esta voz.
